Lol. Pat did take talking past people and making sneaky non sequiturs to an art form. Sometimes I would read his posts and think, "how are you so good at seeming to stay on topic without actually responding to one thing the other poster said?" I almost admired his trollability.

Just curious: Why was Irishfan33 banned? Wasn't he the insider guy who was close with Rabassa? Or do I have him confused?

Pat was single-handedly responsible for ~80-90% of the issues requiring moderator intervention around here. None of the mods are sad to see him go.

Your recollection is correct. LAX and TP checked him out and discovered that he had lied about his profession and connections to the team, so he got banned. We haven't lost any legitimate inside info as a result.

I personally will miss Pat. Not his inflamatory comments or his brash namecalling posting style, but his steadfast constency of message. I may have had more disagreements with Pat than just about anyone on this board, but I found his predictable jabs and jeers pretty funny. It isn't like many took his seriously. Even though he could be rude and antagonistic, he seemed like a real dude. No matter how crazy the stuff he was saying, I almost always thought he beleived it and I found him to be pretty genuine, even if we disagreed on virtually everything. That said, he did crank it up a few notches over the past month or so and for the good of the board, I understand why he had to go.

Frankly my man... I don't want to speak for all of the mods, but we don't really believe that to be true. When you really follow his pattern posting and meta game it became painfully obvious that he was just in this to antagonize and troll. I honestly wonder if anything he said was authentic or if he was just playing a part. I think he is very far from a "real dude." Here are some examples just off the top of my head from the past month or so that I personally observed:

-Every single commit who is not a 5:s: "sucks" or is "overrated"... except consensus 90 rating, low 4:s: Richard Yeargin who compares to Mario Williams? He doesn't post a single freaking post in Yeargin's thread until he goes on the Clemson visit... and then he comes out of the woodwork talking about how he's going to be a "beast" and is a "freak" and compares to a #1 draft pick and multi-time All Pro. Never mind that on no level are the players similar, it's the timing of everything that completely betrays his ulterior motives.

-When discussing teams and rankings he made the unequivocal claim that Notre Dame "couldn't play with" any team in the top 10 at that point and sucks and would get blown out by everyone. When people explained how Miami and Texas Tech certainly weren't great teams, and that ASU was per Vegas a team that would be favored over Missouri on a neutral field... he spent another half dozen posts deflecting, obfuscating, trolling, and otherwise refusing to use or listen to any facts before finally relenting when his feet were held to the fire.

-When it was floated that Tommy was a top 25 QB (and currently he is #24 in QBR... sooo.....) his posting style wasn't in the vein of "oh hey... let's discuss this..."... he went immediately to his same schitck. Tommy sucks and anyone who thinks he's any good at all is an idiot. To this day he STILL brings up the Tommy thing even though Tommy is ranked in the top 25 of QBs as a point of how smart he is and "LOL you all are so dumb."

The list really goes on and on and on and on. Even more than all of antagonistic posts, insults, and everything else lobbed at a myriad of different members that required endless policing and moderation... the fatal flaw is that he is so clearly not trying to have an honest discussion with anyone on this board. His main move is to post something outlandish, entice someone to respond, and then quote their post while not addressing a single point they made in order to elicit more responses/emotion. He is a classic troll who pushed it to the limit again and again and again... and this has been a very long time coming.

I know you understand why he needed to go, but I think it's important for everyone to realize that he wasn't just some opinionated dude ruffling feathers... he was actively trolling and disingenuous in everything from politics to recruiting to football.

I agree with GI41 for the most part, he was a guy who stood by his guns and just took his delivery too far... just my two cents.

Lol that was exactly his MO. Nicely put. He would quote the post and then pivot slightly while seeming to remain on topic.

He was actually quite skillful at it. If Pat was on Obama's staff that first debate with Romney wouldn't have been such a disaster. LOL.
