A lot of disturbing shit in there. My favorite bit might be how their campus is a barren and dusty wasteland, the only grass reserved for a military shrine. Sounds lovely.

Maybe I missed it but I thought Evans was on track for October return.. Full speed Mitch Evans would be huge

Not the end of the world w/ Ben Mo not being full go at the start of camp. If we get into A&M prep and he's not ready to go (2 weeks till the game), then I'm going to worry. More practice time for the defense to get ready in case BM is not a full go.

TAMU's OL and secondary are going to be question marks until they show otherwise. Hopefully Golden and Denbrock attack both early and often.

This is likely going to be the toughest road game on the schedule. Win it right out of the gate and bring Louisville into South Bend for a pound of flesh at 4-0.

From the previews I've read, their dline is going to be their strength. In particular, a transfer Nic Scourton who had 10 sacks last year for Purdue. Oline better be ready, as the environment will likely be deafening also. Also, Elko said recently that Conner Weigman should be ready to go who the draft is already looking at as a potential 1st rounder. This game is going to be tough.

Yes and Elko can coach. Feel he is a significant improvement over Fisher. Very tough road opener but still winnable. Oline must come together in camp. Really need tackles to step up. Game is going to be intense and a good one.

He is a good coach. And he is going to change that shitty team atmosphere the Fisher had. His defense in a season or two is going to be much improved.

But what is not be considered is our coaches. Golden and his staff has proven they can play ball.

Denbrock knows all about the SEC. He is a very good OC and coach. We will have an experienced QB although this might be the biggest game he has ever played in.

Our coaching staff is no slouch either. Freeman has done a fantastic job putting his team together.

ND is a 3-4 point favorite now? That's what a quick Google search showed, but I don't know how accurate that is. Anybody put down some money?

And it’s worth repeating that Elko knows more about our QB than anyone on either sidine.

I’m confident in our defense. I think the O is more capable and in a better situation than last year. I’m hoping all their new parts and new coach that it takes them at least a few games to figure things out.

Riley Leonard will be under the microscope in this game, especially now going against his recent former coach and barely playing spring ball. Dude is literally walking straight into the fire @AM v. his last coach with our enormous fanbase and the college football world watching him and this game. Going to be awesome.

ND is a 1 to 1.5 underdog on every betting site.
The one you googled, is a Rivals board & not accurate.

Wasn't A&M a couple point favorite initially over the Irish (several months back)? Regardless, with Elko at the helm, this appears to be a tough battle to start the season. Go Irish!

Quick rundown...

They are changing everything. D should get up to speed before the O but even Elko will struggle to have them ready for Week 1. He obviously knows how to game plan for Leonard's skill set. OL's been a prob but Cushing did a very good job with what he had at both NW & Duke and it's not like they don't have talent up front. But I don't expect he'll fix the OL by Week 1. They do have a very talented QB and good WR's coming back but Golden & Mickens are waiting. They are at home.

ND's changing O with a lot of new pieces. The pieces Denbrock has now are similar in skill set but not as talented as his last group. Running game needs to be set up by the pass and chain moving QB runs (whether designed or improvised... and that's what he's good at)
ND's D is the biggest constant in this game. It's probably a Top 5 unit with a line that can expose their OL's weaknesses and a secondary that can cut their production. LB's just have to be solid and they should be that and more.

On the backs of the D and the longer tenured staff of ND, I'd put the line at ND -2.5 and expect them to cover on the assumption Riley Leonard is healthy for fall camp.

It’s harder to gauge the college football landscape because of the movement. Unit v unit is put ND Defense > AM Defense but the offense on either side is hard. I’d probably give ND Off > AM Off because Riley has a ton more experience.

BTW...

I don't follow A&M closely... Is there any talk of a divided locker room because of Henderson and Weigman both being there? Or is it Weigman's team this year with the idea that he'll leave for the draft giving Henderson the team in '25?

When Prister rates ND’s QB + all 12 opponents QB, he has Leonard as #1. That’s fair when you consider Weigman has missed so much time despite his potential & talent. Also, DJ U may not have been as elite as advertised coming out of HS but he still set the record for most passing yards in ND stadium by an opponent as a freshman. So while a case can be made that Leonard is #1, I think it’s by a slim margin & he could finish the season lower than that when all is said and done.

It’s not fair to call Leonard ”injury prone” b/c he’s only had the one major injury. That said, that lone injury has had multiple setbacks so his transition to the offense & rhythm w/ the WR/TE corps is still in question for the opener. He had one good year, 2022. He looked to be building on that last year before the injury, however; he only threw 2 TDs so be careful going all in based on one good year. Brennan Armstrong is one among many who were flashes in the pan & couldn’t build on their success for numerous reasons.

All good points. The one huge benefit for us assuming he stays is our backup QB has been in the program multiple years, has gotten gametime experience and shown he may not be a gamechanger but is talented enough to give ND a chance in any game on the schedule should Leonard moss time.
