I work with a building full of Aggies...no tix forthcoming, even with offer of trade for their visit to SB in 2025. They understand this is a rare opportunity to have ND at home. I'll attend for tailgating and see what happens.

FYI for anyone thinking of visiting, it’ll be miserable weather wise. College Station is roughly halfway between Austin and Houston if you go by US 290 and San Antonio might even yield a cheap flight if necessary.

Drink a lot of live oak Hefeweizen or their Pilsner while here. Best German style beers you’ll find.

Superbowl for A&M and you know how that usually goes

As someone in the Houston metro area that works with a shit ton of A&M fans and lives amongst them, I can assure that this game simply lagniappe in comparison to the UT game. It's all they discuss and talk about, seriously. They have "little brother syndrome" to the umpteenth degree.

For those travelling to the game, the accommodations in Bryan-College Station, like South Bend, are few and far in between. Most hotel rooms and AirBnbs are likely booked. Staying outside of the Loop or The Grand Parkway of Houston will be likely your best bet (if flying into Houston).

As others mentioned, the heat will likely be unbearable. Aggys are a real weird, cult-y bunch. Friendly, but odd...with all the yips and woos, the rings, the towel waving and swaying...it's a different, unique atmosphere. I'd submit that it is the most unique atmosphere in all of college football.

The campus is ... well ... hideous, and it's impossible to find a tree for shade. The campus has this certain Soviet, Constructivist architectural "charm" to it. I presume O'Bannons will be the ND hangout, but be sure to go to Dixie Chicken and The Backyard. Eat plenty of bbq, some kolaches and breakfast tacos. As Zelezo mentioned, Live Oak's Hefe is great. I really like St. Arnold's Fancy Lawnmower -- I could drink about a case of those in the Texas summer heat. Also, enjoy their band. I'll tip my cap and give them credit, they are the best band in my opinion. Make sure and get into the stadium early to see them march around the field.

Oh yeah, when on campus, be sure to walk on their grass and do not remove your cap when entering the student center.;)

Enjoy it, and beat aggy. 🍀

No problem. Had to sneak the time to do it over the weekend with my little one getting baptized, but Clash had always handled it and done a great job so I did my best to make him proud. hah
Great job, and congrats on the little one getting baptized. Awesome stuff!

I figure this has to be the most difficult game of the regular season. It's College station, likely a night game, they've got Elko who we know is a good coach. We'll be installing a new offense, with a lot of new starters likely on the OL and at skill positions. I'm not terribly worried about USC losing Williams and that defense probably won't get turned around just yet. I don't expect Louisville to pull a fast one two years in a row, especially at home. I think Florida State will struggle in South Bend, especially if it ends up cold. This A&M game is a real question mark though, lots of new variables for both teams.

I'm definilty saving money for this one, it's a few hrs from Dallas and there's no way I am skip it. Have a few Bama buddies who are dating A&M chicks so we'll all prob get an AirBnB for this one.
I am just praying this is a night game, that late Aug Sun in Texas is no joke.
I went to the UT/Bama game a few years ago, which was an afternoon game, and we saw ppl passing out left and right.

Elko is a great coach, but glad we get them first game of the year. It'll take him some time to get the Jimbo out of this team.
I was thinking the same thing. I know they have a lot of talent but they have also lost a lot in the transfer portal.

Debating going despite the pain in the ass it is to get there, weather, and likely pain in the ass fans. Just think it is such a unique experience that warrants it. Kyle Field is better than most NFL stadium, and the traditions (however cringey) of A&M in person are something we likely won’t get a chance to see for decades. Like going to a game in a foreign country effectively.

I’d definitely go if you haven’t been.

Apart from the Service Academies, it’s the
most unique atmosphere and traditions in college football. You’ve got assholes everywhere, but the fans, largely, should be great and welcoming.

They’ve done a great job enclosing the stadium (as it used to resemble a tackle box). And while it isn’t to the level of LSU, Auburn, Florida, the stadium can get very loud.

It’s likely College Gameday will be there too (I believe Georgia vs. Clemson is the only other possibility).

Put it like this, I would definitely drive up for it if I wasn’t going to Vegas for LSU-USC.

I think it’s the most unique environment in college football. Very loud. Would echo this. I’ve been to a few around the country and the volume, weird traditions, and environment is probably the most impressive. I still haven’t been to a tailgate in Oxford or to a game in Rocky Top. I’ve seen most of the SEC and a chunk of BIG 10. After that, I’ll feel confident truly ranking them.
Def better than Auburn, IMO. LSU feels like another country in a different way, but it wasn’t that special, IMO. Florida State >> Florida, IMO.

Congrats Beau!

It isn't seeing the birthdate and recruiting years that make me feel old. It was first seeing Beau was in college, then graduate and get a job, married, now a baby!

Bit the bullet and bought my tickets yesterday. Dont see a world where these prices go down since its the first game of the season and A&M wont have a chance to have dropped a couple games yet. Prices are def ugly.

Where did you buy them? Sounds like visitor section is around 131? I’m considering going since it’s an about an eight hour drive.

section 125, I tried to get a little higher up in the section, field level views suck to actually watch a game. Theyre similarly priced everywhere but with the $45 discount code and lower fees they came out to be about $200 less at Ticketcity than other places.
