lol I get it. But I mean as a college football fan, the weird crap is the crap I love. A tradition formed in a completely different time. And to their credit, I haven’t seen any cheerleading squad in CFB that instantly gets the crowd in sync making some crazy loud noise. It looks absolutely hilarious without a crowd or a small crowd, but it’s impressive with 110,000 people following their lead.

No man I get it, I'm very pro weird cfb stuff. You guys wear white capris and be as flamboyant as you want.

OMG.
Also, it's a huge school so I assume they have some normal students, but do you have to belong to some sort of paramilitary organization to get tickets to the football game? Every student you see in that video looks like they're straight off the base.
That's the Corps of Cadets you're seeing - student military, Army ROTC group. There's about 2,500 of them and they're generally the rowdiest of the student population, so they get seated closest to the field and show up on TV the most.

I guess when nobody needs to ask...nobody needs to tell. Very bold.

Thanks! But yeah, you pretty much nailed it. We’re excited about Elko and his staff, confident in all of our position groups except maybe O-line. It really feels like A&M is going to be the kind of team that looks totally transformed by week 13 compared to week 1. Meshing a completely new staff with a team with that many transfers that quickly is incredibly difficult no matter who is coaching. Home field advantage is great but to be honest I’d trade home field advantage for a ND game in the back half of our schedule.
Don't underestimate the elements. Even with it being a night game, the heat may work to ya'lls favor. Our boys melted against Florida State at night to start the 2021 season. I imagine Elko will have the wheels rolling better toward the end of the season, but he could come out of the gate firing too.

Tell coach to call up NDSU's strength coach and ask what they did for Kansas State in 2013. It was 100 degrees all day. NDSU took over in the 4th quarter. I think they added some salt and stuff to the Gatorade on the sideline.

You know I thought you were being a little ridiculous and then I watched the video, nothing like having your bros carry you to a fountain where you swim around in 2 feet of water while wearing your milk man uniform as all the bros scream and yell about how wet and cool you are
Yea the whole schtick is corny and contrived, and if im carrying some dude around on my shoulders he damn well better have some fucking shoes on. I know the bottoms of shoes are disgusting, but id rather have that in my face than another dudes bare feet all day long.

I meet and interact with a lot of ND ROTC guys. Rowdy isn’t a word I would use… but then again I don’t see them on Saturdays.

Doing a little googling, the average high for College Station on August 31 is 93% with an average humidity of 59%. I expected the humidity to be around 80%.

The trainers better have the player hydration on point. Don’t want to see a team full of 4th quarter cramping like a PMS convention……

ND played in prime time in Austin back in 2016 to kick off the season. Listening to fans who traveled to that game, they couldn’t recount feeling more miserable from the humidity. Of course the misery increased that night and thoughout the season but weather was not the culprit by that point.

I do think humidity is more of an adverse factor vs cold weather for good teams. Bad teams quit in any adverse weather conditions.

That’s the thing. My Aggie buddies agree that it’s cultish but it’s their traditions so they embrace it as part of the the pageantry of college football.

I have no doubt MF will have everyone hydrating a lot more the week of the game.

I would expect it to be that temperature at kickoff in the stadium. It's hot as hell down here in August/early September and the stadium should retain a lot of heat too. It'll be miserable, for anyone considering going to the game.

Difference being these Corps of Cadets guys have to be in uniform at all time, whereas ND ROTC folks don't have to be in uniform except the once-a-week uniform day.

Yep. I graduated from A&M in 2014. Being in the corps there is definitely a full on lifestyle choice.

So they let the normies into the game but the best seats go to the paramilitary organization. Got it.

I've played in every temperature imaginable in Georgia. Droughts, jungle-humidity, torrential downpour, bitter cold, 40 mph winds. And that's all in the same week.

Humidity is without question the X-factor. Heat and cold in and of themselves present their own collection of challenges, but nothing is worse than the combination of excessive heat and humidity. It being in the 90's and dry still sucks, but your body can at least cool itself reasonably, especially with the help of misters and fans on the sidelines. But add humidity into the mix, it's like wearing a thin coat of hot moisture all over your body, preventing your sweat from escaping and cooling you naturally. It sucks.

59% humidity isn't as bad as I expected. Normally when it hits 70% or higher it takes a toll much quicker.

All I know is...if I would have been forced to attend A&M, I would have hung myself week 1 or thrown myself off a belltower.

I love the wacky college traditions too, but A&M is just cringe (or, back in the pre-PC days, we would have called it gay).

Hung yourself? Soft AF. A little adversity would do a world of good for many.
