It was after the third down play…it was fourth down and freeman had no clue (it seemed) what they should do on fourth . We had a timeout to figure it out thankfully

I haven’t lied about playing … nor do I care if you believe me or not. Announcers awarded nd the win before we had it locked up and it seemed to me that freeman wasn’t sure what to do.

Funny, I also got my varsity letter today from my school I played at to donate and it came with a few free passes to any game of my choice (not football or hockey) since those tickets are at times sold out. There’s a clue to the school I played at.

I wasn’t a yes man player in the sense I just did what coaches said, I tried to understand the why behind it. I think freeman struggles game day with the “what to do and why” in big moments so he just goes off analytics to make quick decisions. But analytics don’t tell you everything. I think he can lay out a thorough good long term plan but struggles with quick decision making
Funny how we win and you are still criticizing Freeman. Are you a coach? You must be the best one ever because you seem to have all the answers.

To be honest I would’ve punted. A lot could’ve gone wrong there and I was surprised they kicked the 46 yard FG. So I assume that’s what the conversations were about.
kicking a fg under 50 is far more probable to make than fourth and 5 or more so it should have been easy decision. Punting puts ball in A&M hands, other two options seal the game

Where’d you play? I thought varsity letters was HS shit. And can a get one of those tickets to the girls creamed corn wrestling?

Everyone criticized freeman all game long until 3 minutes left… I’m not backing off just because we won. He and the team need to improve

Put up or shut up, right? Where’d you play?

And if it’s Purdue, you can keep your cream corn fed girls. Indiana, however…I’m there. 😉
It has to be a school that has good hockey attendance. He played cornerback at either MSU, Wisky, or Minnesota is my guess.

I haven't criticized him. I would take freeman over BK any day of the week. He still has much to learn, but in big games Freeman has not had our ass handed to us like our predecessor has.

ND/A&M was the highest rated game yesterday……edging out UGA/Clemson with Miami/FL in 3rd place.

I feel like this is the most talk to hear myself talk statement after week 1 of college football. Isn't it widely understood that week 1 is riddled with mistakes and the need to adjust from a practice mind sight to the game actually counting. Things need to be cleaned up...which is a big reason teams schedule cupcake matchups to open the season.

Maybe, just maybe, MF realizes that in game decision aren't currently a strength of his and he was seeking insurance. I'd much rather he clarify, then just shoot from the hip in that situation.

So what the hell were they doing/discussing the 10-15 minutes (due to timeouts) before the 3rd down play? Discussing where the nd fans were in the stadium to celebrate with? lol

Everyone knew nd was running it 3 straight plays and most likely not getting a first down

It all worked out, but it was sloppy
They were discussing why that Douchebag that thinks he knows football on IE hasn’t been banned yet

The guy behind me at the game said the same thing and i told him he’s nuts. If you cant trust your special teams operation and your kicker to ice a game from 46 yds, what are we even doing? As a coach you want your guys to go out and win a game, you have to trust them to do it when its time.

By “everyone” you mean “you,” right? Seems like most are trying enjoy the win except you and your trollish, nails-on-a-chalkboard commentary about what needs to happen for Freeman to meet your uncompromising expectations. He just beat the best team, one favored to beat ND, on the schedule by double digits. You are insufferable. Do us all a favor and discover a little self-awareness.

Thanks for the invite, I will be back throughout the year. I will be pulling for the Irish.

I have heard from many of our fans that the Irish fans that traveled to the game were great people.

The Irish D was as advertised.

What a defensive battle last night.

The crowd was amazing......but unfortunately the 12th man cannot throw passes or get separation. Elko/Klein have some work to do.
Give Elko time, I think he'll get it sorted. It's just the first game. That defense is absolutely legit, and Weigman should get a little slack for facing our secondary.

That defense will get better just like ours. And if they keep dropping bags he will do ok recruiting the defensive side of the ball. Weigman doesn’t look like a 5 star to me.

Enjoy the win Saturday night back to work Sunday to get better! Isn’t that the mantra?

I complimented freeman and the team a ton, you just get all worked up over any comment that points out imperfections.

I think there are quite a few in-game coaching things to criticize Freeman for…….

Double-checking with his guys on his FG kicker’s distance right before making the final call on FG vs Punt isn’t one of them, imo.

Yeah, maybe Freeman should know the “FG Range” tv line in his head from pregame prep. But it’s wild to die on that hill when there are guys who’s literal job is to continuously confirm that shit with their coaches in-game.

You might call it over-communication, which maybe they learned a bit about after OSU last year.

not to keep beating it but he wasn't checking the range, he didn't know at the time if they were kicking or going for it. It was clear we were in range.

What i'm talking about is he didn't have a clear strategy even with all the timeouts to handle the last 90 seconds once we got the ball back (other than run it). The game wasn't over. If love didn't fight for extra yards both runs after the price loss, we probably punt and A&M gets the ball back with however many seconds (35ish). What if we didn't have a timeout and give him more time to make a decision? The announcers were acting like the game was over, but we all know it wasn't. Everything worked out as it should have. I just think he's still struggling with in game decisions. He went for it on fourth down both times first drive of second half because analytics said to. Analytics is great, but it's not an end all because it's not taking into account everything happening in the game.

Freemans passion before the game I think was huge, we've come out flat so much on the road. He clearly had the team locked in to the game plan, just need to really clean up all the sloppy penalties.
