I love the 11 nation champions of Michigan... We count back to the civil war for UM but back to the mid 20s for ND...

F U C K Michigan.

lucky, I totally agree. He looked fast off the edge (Grant)

Honestly, I like how Utupo looked as well.

A lot of good, and a lot to work on. But, getting a W makes a great day.

Go Irish!

That's because Bama counts roughly 40

We could claim 13 but we don't.

Haha yeah I know.. I was all about who REALLY had the most for a while.

It's just silly that teams like michigan and bama are like "we won a few games that year... lets go ahead and give ourselves that one."

I feel like there must be around 200 national champions in around 150 years of CFB haha

That's the problem with not having some standard criteria to claim some of these older titles.

Fucking tasty win. Golson looked great, running backs looked great, and the defense wasn't a complete disaster! Stoked for next week. Fuck Michigan!

Nice win guys. Thought you played well in all phases. You guys were right, Golson looked great. Very accurate passer and ability to keep plays alive is special. Wish we could have given you a little more stress, but we clearly have a lot of work to do.

Good luck against Michigan.

Bama counts 1973 when ND beat them in the Sugar Bowl. #shameless

Thanks man, Rice is definitely on the come up. Get everybody healthy, make a few post first game adjustments and give TAMU hell in two weeks. I respect the heck out of Rice, they will play anybody, anywhere, and they are one of the good guys in college football. Rice Fight!

true, but (1) the other two have been more consistent; and (2) I'm more worried about feeding the two young beasts (keeping them happy) than I am keeping the senior captain happy. Production being generally equal, of course.

I'm not worried about feeding our two young beasts because they have two more possible seasons to rack up yards. Cam produces, he's a captain because he's earned it, and he's consistent with every aspect of the position. There is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't get some touches. Folston and Bryant will still gets their opportunities, Cam is not costing us any games if he carries 6-7 times.

Remind me not to hire you as a talent scout. Stats are deceiving.

Stats are facts, and BGIF would be awesome as a talent scout. Bryant is explosive, but he's young. He still has to hone all the aspects of his game, and that's why Cam will still get touches. Plus, I'm going to go ahead and trust Kelly before I trust your analysis. If Cam never takes another snap, then I guess you're right.

Had Golson not been banished last year we had the talent to go back to the national championship, stupid Tommy Rees.

Do you always post like this? Don't blame Rees for Golson being stupid.

Don't worry, he got his neg. I'm not holding back at this point. I've never seen a player become a bigger scapegoat than Tommy. Nobody is saying he's the greatest player to ever suit up for the Irish, but damn you'd think he cost us every damn loss for the last 4 years the way some people talk. The kid did nothing but clean up after the mistakes/injuries of Golson and Crist for 4 years. When he WAS the legitimate starter it's because no one else on that current roster could beat him, so don't blame Tommy for executing when others couldn't. How do you throw a player like that under the bus? Rees may have put us in a bad spots in a couple games last year, but ultimately it was the defense and probably poor play calling that cost us more. 5 wide formations on 3rd and short? That's not on Tommy, that's stupid play calling when you have athletic running backs and a good offensive line.

Because there are some that still think Rees was a good QB when in reality was one of the most overrated players I have seen in years, and if Rees was good why wasn't he drafted?

How many college QBs are drafted every year? How many have we had drafted in the last 25 years outside of Quinn and Clausen, neither of which really panned out in the Pros? Just because you weren't drafted doesn't mean you're a poor college QB...and again, I'm not saying Tommy was Heisman QB material, the problem is that you and a few others want to blame Tommy on what little failure this team has experienced over the last 4 years. Tommy didn't cost us nearly as many games as people like to pretend he did, and he's saved our butts a number of times that people seem to forget. There is absolutely no way we go to a bowl game last year if Hendrix was the one leading the team, without question. We would have lost to USC, Navy, Purdue, Arizona State, Michigan State, and probably BYU. So, you should probably count your blessings that Tommy ever suited up for the Irish, because with Golson gone in 2013 we would have probably lost a few more players to transfers after a season like that.

I don't want to take anything away from Golson's performance today. The dude was awesome, and I'm very glad he's back. It's an exciting time. Just don't call Tommy "stupid" when he was the smart one academically that bailed us out last year.

sorry for the beating bro

I think it could not have a more enjoyable experience, except for not being there. I hope we can do it again some time soon, maybe even in Houston. It is really refreshing to play a team that stress STUDENT athlete as much as we do. Here's hoping there is a national championship in your near future! And Tuck Michigan!

Observations from section 3:

1. Golson is not a great quarterback. He's a great athlete and an okay quarterback. His athleticism saved slow decision making several times. He looks uncomfortable in the pocket and tends to have happy feet. That said, holy athlete.

2. Greg Bryant should be RB1 and I don't think it's that close. All three guys deserve carries but GB was very impressive.

3. Where did that punt return game come from?

4. I get the feeling that Brian Kelly uttered an "oh shit" when Zaire busted that big run. The fan base in the stadium was very aware of MZ and there was some buzz when he came in the game. Impatient fans aren't going to hesitate to fabricate a quarterback controversy if EG makes some mistakes. I'm not saying they SHOULD, but they will.

Your vision of a QB is too traditional/pro-style.

Bingo.

This is growing tiresome, by the way. Rees was the best we had and did the best he could. He was never gonna be Vince Young. Either way, he's gone. Can we wish the man well and move on?
