I used to think that Tyler was set on playing TE and that would be the only way we'd get him. But the way TV made it sound was that he is aware of the possibility of playing OLB and we are still leading the pack. Never thought that would be the case.

my guess is that most kids who choose ND (Kelly era) don't do it because they were recruited for position x, its because the staff shows them what the university can do for them outside of football, and tells them he is going to pout them inbthe best position to succeed.

if Luatua likes what we offer outside of football, and trusts the staff have his best interest, then its no surprise we are out front.

Uggg...I hate when there is that one huge recruiting weekend. To many recruits in one place at one time. Spread it out between USC game and Oklahoma game.

That's actually not true. They were coming to see an up and coming ND program against a faltering USC program. There was a TON of buzz around that game, almost all of it around ND (we were 8 pt favorites).

Unfortunately, what they saw was a rising USC team kick the snot out of ND (score notwithstanding, they manhandled us for much of that game...it was actually amazing we were within one yard of tying it) and have fun while doing it, and all the recruits were on hand to witness it, and took note of it.

That weekend was a disaster, but we actually did get some recruits out of it, like Kavarai Russell (sp?) and Steve Elmer. From people that were there, it was a great atmosphere, and ND put its best foot forward...until game time. And it worked out OK for the Michigan game this past year, so it has its advantages as well. Gotta win though!

CMIIW -- Steve Elmer was at the Michigan night game against Notre Dame as Michigan's guest and he was upset that Notre Dame lost....that is when he realized he wanted to go to Notre Dame.

That's how I remember it. Perhaps he was visiting at the SC game as well?

The year before, when he was a sophomore, is how I remember it. The Michigan story is absolutely true, however, I was just talking about recruits that were at the USC game (Elmer was there unofficially), and how it wasn't as disastrous as we all thought when it happened (but still a horrible might for recruiting all things considered)...

Clearly doesn't mean anything since he left out the 14.
