My hopes are for a competitive game, no major injuries on either side, and Rice covering the spread. Your athletes should prevail, but I hope we will not be embarrassed! The drive home from Memphis was twice as bad as the trip up.

You won't be embarrassed. If ND sticks to the recent script, they will play down to their competition (no offense) and make this game closer than it should be. One thing you can count on (especially if you like gambling) is ND not covering the spread when they're a heavy favorite. Maybe it's b/c so many ND fans bet w/ their heart & drive the spread higher, but rarely does ND cover when they're a big favorite. I can see ND winning a close one (10 pts or less) or losing outright (ala South Florida in the rain back in 2011 opener). I'd take the under on 8.5 wins this regular season. If they finish 8-4 w/ all the crap that's happened, it will set up nicely for next season.
