Two morons whose employment doubtless has something profound to say about us ... though I fear what exactly.

And both guys are intelligent and capable of serious, thoughtful discussion. They've just allowed themselves to sink to trolling and schtick until it's become almost all they can do any longer. I used to like Stephen A, and he LOVES my Tide, but I just can't listen to his over-the-top, phony, Baptist preacher on a roll routine anymore. Finebaum's smart as hell and knows football, but he's let himself become the Jerry Springer of the industry, making trolling his calling card when he could often actually add something of substance.

Wonder what they all have in common - an employer, perhaps?

It doesn't really *matter* at this point, and it's unfortunate we lost to Marshall, but why are we still receiving fewer votes than UNC and BYU? Like, I would be curious what voter could have watched our last two games and determined that those teams are better than Notre Dame.

The voters are only looking at the records……if we just keep winning, it will take care of itself ☘️. ND is better than most of the teams in the top 25 but that Marshall loss is one that the voters are just not going to overlook until we stack more victories.

Because the Irish should have had a total of at least an extra 20 points in those games combined. 14 last night at least. The 'eye-test' is at work brother.

BYU is a head scratcher. UNC only has one loss so I can see that even though their wins aren’t that great.

It doesn’t really matter anyways. The first playoff rankings come out the Wednesday before the Clemson game so if we are 6-2 then and on a six game win streak that ranking will be very telling as to where the playoff committee sees us

We beat #4 so we should be #3 now, yeah?

#3 then.
That only applies to the SEC. #20 seems about right for us. Couple convincing wins against Navy and BC and I could see us move to 15-16 with a chance to knock off a top-7, maybe even top-5 SC which could carpult is into NY6 territory, for better or worse...

ESPN.com power ranks the Irish at #22. Don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves but a strong finishing kick could still find the Irish at maybe top 10?

Pull that off and we’d have a really weird resume. Two top-ten wins, two atrocious losses.

Can we make an NY6 at 9-3? I mean obviously we should just be handed the ACC’s spot, but only so many at-larges to go around and there’ll be some combo of LSU/Bama/Tennessee, plus the Michigan-OSU loser, among others, to contend with.

I’m thinking it’s more likely to go to the Capital One Bowl on January 2nd and face the #4 SEC team. And I would be more than happy to play in the best bowl game outside of the playoffs and NY6 bowls.

I don't think there's a path to the NY6.

ACC is now probably only looking at one NY6 spot since there's little/no chance of them getting a playoff team.

That's okay though. Let's just control what we can control. Win out, including the bowl game, and keep the 10 win streak alive.

LSU is almost certainly going to be #2 right? Didn't they soft lock the SECW last night?
But if they lose to Georgia in the SEC title game they’d be 9-3, while Bama’s 10-2 and Tennessee goes 11-1 (do they make the CFP in that scenario?). Ole Miss could be in the mix there as well.
Not sure how the bowl seeding works in all that.
