My thinking is that it was probably the phrasing/context that was a problem. I mean, when has ND ever done something like that with a kid? Why would you ever bring up that someone isn't good enough/smart enough for your school? Just doesn't even make sense.

My guess is that Mattison was probably trying to contrast Michigan to Nebraska and say something like "Nebraska is ordinary/normal, Michigan is exceptional" and just phrased it like an idiot.

this. he was trying to show the family that because of football he should be taking full advantage of his ability to get into otherwise unattainable universities.

He just stated it very very poorly.

Any intel on why???
He's taking two 4star guys in 2015, one of whom is Gentry. Could be the kid just saw early PT potential, and now that they got "their" guy in Gentry, he wanted something else. Could also be scheme change. Who knows.

It's prolly what you said, but I don't like F'ichigan. So I imagined the scenario...which could still be true...to a degree

This is happening right now at MGoBlog:

Is Notre Dame or Northwestern worth the coin over UM? $60K vs $30K | mgoblog

My brother is a HS junior and is going through the college application process. I would be happy for him if he choses any of these fine institutions. If he does end up in Ann Arbor, I can only hope the humility with which he was raised counteracts the baseless arrogance that place breeds.

Today I learned that according to some posters on Mgofuckyourself, ND has an inflated academic reputation because of the nationwide infatuation with Catholics. That would be one of the most comical things I've heard, if another dipshit hadn't posted that ND doesn't teach evolution. Right, a school that pumps out as many doctors and engineers as ND does clearly doesn't teach science. good lord I hate that institution - f*ck michigan.

Michigan is just another generic public school. They have a lot of great graduate programs which pump up their name, but that matters little to quality of undergraduate education. There is little consistency. You can get a great education there, or a very mediocre one.

ND's big advantage (aside from the obvious family/fit/rank) is consistency. Our student body is, on average, just way better than Michigan's, and we don't have to accept bozos just because we're meeting an in-state quota. That allows the ND educational experience to be truly, consistency exceptional. You just get more out of learning from a community of intelligent peers like that. F Michigan.

Gosh, I should stop reading that thread. Tons of bigots just tossing around uninformed opinions like it was the 1920s and it was in vogue to hate Catholics again. People saying things like, 'Honestly, I just don't consider ND to be a peer institution to the other two. Toss it out the window.' What claptrap. They talk smack about ND's acceptance rate without mentioning that it's the lowest of the three, or that ND has the highest average SAT of the three. Just a rust belt regional Klan circle jerk on Mgoblog tonight.

Ross > Mendoza for undergrad... GTFO.

I'm not saying Ross isn't a good business school. There are certainly some publications that lean more towards Ross and others that lean more towards Mendoza...I think the funny part was the fact the poster said "it's not even close." On the contrary, they're actually quite close (And based on some of those publications they're behind).

Paging Whiskey.

You rang?

In Businessweek's ranking of undergraduate business programs, ND has been #1 for four straight years. Michigan isn't even top-10. Payscale's ranking, which is based entirely on objective salary figures, puts ND at 3rd and Michigan at 203rd. I can't find a single piece of objective evidence indicating that Ross is remotely comparable to Mendoza.

Today I learned that according to some posters on Mgofuckyourself, ND has an inflated academic reputation because of the nationwide infatuation with Catholics.

Totes. This WASPy nation loves itself some papists. Always has, really. Just ask the Irish.

There are plenty of publications that rate Michigan's graduate business programs as better than ND's. But I can't find a single one that makes the same claim about undergrad.

Hey YOU...

No image

I fixed it, Photobucket is being stupid, had to move it to tinyurl. I even tried taking the image and reuploading it, same error from Photobucket when linking. Their admin must be a scUM grad.

If you say anything over there that doesn't agree with the echo chamber of 'special' children, they ban you quickly. Despite the popularity of the website, I've only seen a handful of posters that weren't raised in an Ann Arbor trailer park, including phork, and I'm not sure how they survive. Everything they say seems to include calls for their head.

I just dropped in two rather ambivalent posts for fun. We'll see what happens.

That's the most woefully inaccurate and uninformed thread I've maybe ever read on the internet though.

Not that I know of. There was a poster named Irish who has disappeared.

Fighting the zombie hordes is hard. But I try to remember how enemy fan bases are treated here and sometimes I troll over that line over there (Its not hard go figure). What I have come to learn is that there are a whole lot of idiots over there and then a bunch of pretty decent guys.

Much like you give reputation here, you can upvote or downvote a post or reply there. Typically a newbie enemy fan base person gets run out quickly. I have somehow managed to collect like 2600 Mgopoints. I have become respected. Lolz, our as close to it as possible.

Picked up a commitment from Grant Perry, WR from my old high school. Solid player that does a lot of things well, but nothing spectacular. Perry and Malzone basically ran the show at Rice this year, and nearly won their fourth state title in a row. I thought Perry really made Malzone look better than he really is, yet his only real P5 offer was northwestern. I believe Perry made scouts first team All-American as well. I think Grant will be a nice little player for Michigan in the future.

Apparently Wayne Lyons is trying to transfer to Michigan for his 5th year. Good for us.

Also looking like they will take Van Jefferson from Ole Miss.
