Wow - many of those posters truly believe Harbaugh is coming to AA. They're going to be highly disappointed.

On the local radio show here in Michigan Sean Peyton's name was mentioned several times as a legit pssobility.

I would take Payton as the Bears coach. And the Cowboys would swoop him up too.I bet the odds are greater that Payton comes than Harbaugh. New Orleans is ripe for a change.
Trestman is in his second year. Without trying to derail the thread too much, there has been rampant speculation in the media that Trestman would be fired ever since the Green Bay catastrophe. So I've seen a couple times on here talk about people becoming bears coach. Is there really talk dudes gonna get canned after year 1?
I think Gruden turning down Tennessee was proof positive he has no interest in coaching, at least at the college level.
First, I am not saying it's impossible. But, already has kush jobs of kush jobs. Why recruit if u don't have to. And why deal with what's becoming usual bullshit at ND as opposed to if he was going to coach college somewhere else is certainly going to be "easier".
I think the same question could be asked about JH/Michigan.
IMO, JH to scUM is more likely than Gruden to anywhere in college.
I can't remember who I heard it from, but that he's always wanted to go back to the Raiders. He and Mark Davis supposedly have a good relationship. I think.I agree with all of this. But I think he could be enticed by the right opportunity IF you threw $5 mil+ at him. In comments he's made privately he's never closed the door on coaching again, the main impediment is how great his current gig is on TV.
Does ND even want Gruden?
When was the last time he was on the recruiting trail? Like 25 years ago?
Has there ever been a NFL HC with a Superbowl Ring, go back to college and coach?
It was mentioned in the Jerry Tillery thread but can you imagine a multi millionaire with a Super Bowl ring, that has to go into a 17 year olds house and basically beg them to come to play for him?
It must be different graveling to a Pro like Peyton Manning or darrelle Revis, but a high schooler?
Just some of my thoughts on Gruden
Chryst I could see returning to Wisconsin, but you don't think he'd be on the list? Addazio?I mentioned this months ago, but I'm going to bring up the best list of possible Skunk hires:
Dave Doeren (NCST)
Ruffin McNeil (ECU)
Mark Hudspeth (LLU)
Sonny Dykes (CAL)
Todd Graham (ASU)
Doc Holiday (Marshall)
And I would add:
Dana Holgerson (WVU)

Ah. I understand then.Just going off my original list. Lax has thrown out Addazio and I don't want to steal his thunder. But yes I could see that.
I don't get the Gruden love. I just don't.
I think people talk about Gruden just to talk about Gruden.
Stop talking about Gruden, people! History has shown he's not interested in coaching, who knows how good he'd really be given those circumstances, and he isn't coming to South Bend if he does decide to start coaching again.
Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett told the media this week that he’s been blown away by the interest in the job.
Without dramatic movement yet, some believe UM might be waiting for someone, perhaps Jim Harbaugh’s last regular season game on December 28th.
Twitter has been a buzz this week with conflicting stories on potential targets.
Longtime NFL personnel man Gil Brandt tweeted that Duke coach David Cutcliffe was offered the UM job and turned it down.
Meanwhile ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen responded saying he spoke to Cutcliffe and Cutcliffe has not talked to Michigan, nor has Duke athletic director Kevin White or even a third party, through a search firm.
If that wasn’t enough to get the Michiganders going, sources continue to indicate mutual interest between LSU Coach Les Miles and his alma mater. However, we’re told there’s a disconnect between what Miles would require for staff salaries and what Michigan would like to pay.
Finally, a well placed source indicates Kentucky coach Mark Stoops could be a backup candidate for the Wolverines job. Michigan believes it’s imperative they land someone with the ability to recruit Ohio. Stoops attended Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, where his father was an assistant coach.
We’re also told former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano remains a viable candidate.
