Poggi is unofficial to Alabama this weekend to see his buddy Cyrus Jones. But Michigan fans think he is visiting to visit Cyrus even though Cryus was in town last week. Nah Cyrus we will drive 8 hours to see you. Fan base is unreal sometimes.

Taylor Lewan will return to the University of Michigan.

Well that's a shocker. Although I guess it's also expected whenever someone schedules an announcement.

Sucks for us. Good for Lewan. He'll be projected as the #1 tackle and get his degree next year.

I'm not aware of anyone besides ND that requires a degree and graduate school admission as a requirement for a 5th year.

Right I'm just assuming he already got his degree in 4 years and isn't a stupid face.

He has his degree. I talked about this with my scUM buddy. He was pretty surprised as well. He even said that if Lewan was his kid, there is no way he would let him come back. I hope Lewan plays well and stays healthy. After all, for every guy that comes back and doesn't get burned (Luck) there are guys that really take a hit (Locker, Barkley, etc).

Michigan just picked up a commitment from low :s::s::s: ATH Reon Dawson (formerly an Illinois commit). Some pundits, including Berk from Scout, think they are getting a steal here.

He's a project, from what I read he just started playing organized football a few years ago. If he works out it will be nice to have a 6' 2" corner.

Looks like they'll get Derrick Green as he's announcing on the 26th. That's a big pickup. Don't know if they have any other prospects left on their board after that except for maybe Smythe. All around really darn solid class for Michigan despite them totally sucking on the field and losing 5 games.

I have a hard time caring since the series is ending soon. Meyer is going to dominate them for as long as he stays at OSU anyway, so meh.

I can't think of why we should even care anymore. We're not going to be playing against any of these kids.

Oh wait. Pure hatred. Almost forgot.

Green will be a great pickup for them. However, I have to laugh at how poorly Morris looked throughout the season and during AA week. They seem to have a lot riding on that kid.

Won't matter if Gardner gets his medical redshirt.

If Gardner gets a "medical" with Slaughter not getting his that will be the biggest injustice in the history of ever. They have completely fabricated the extent of his "injury".... he was totally available to play that season.

As many of us speculated, looks like Poggi's visit to 'Bama could be a big deal. Very well might flip.

Brady Hoke's "if you visit you lose your spot" crap is officially total BS. Dawson didn't lose his spot, neither is Poggi. What a load of hooey.

Might not be totally bogus, since such a recruit presumably only loses his sport if a better prospect wants it at the time. Michigan was terrible this year, so Poggi and Dawson had nothing to worry about.

That's kinda my point. They're good recruits, so they have nothing to worry about. His threat is a total paper tiger to anyone who is a high 4:s: at a position of need.

Dawson had to "decommit" and Hoke even said he lost his spot and couldn't be part of the class... then I guess Florida was kinda full up or something and when he asked back in Hoke did a 180 and said "oh yeah sure we'd love to have you."

Why hasn't Michigan lost more commits?

This is why you recruit the Midwest. For a Midwest kid that wants to stay in the Midwest, what are their "big time" options besides Michigan? Basically Ohio State or Notre Dame. Who in Michigan's class does Notre Dame or Ohio State even want? Only maybe a small handful of people.

I think my favorite is Derrick Green (not a Midwest kid, but logic applies to him)... really wanted to go to Ohio State and Urban just straight up didn't want him. Michigan? They DESPERATELY want him. And it looks like he'll end up there unless he pulls a huge shocker (which he might)... basically by default.

When you recruit Midwest kids it's much easier to get them to stick because they don't have local schools/fans/coaches pulling at them if ND has a bad year. How many kids in Michigan's class did ND or Ohio State even want?

Dymonte Thomas - Ohio State wanted him
Kyle Bosch - ND offered him late after Michigan was going all out and didn't keep pursuing
Logan Tulley-Tillman - Another guy ND offered and did want bad... stopped pursuing after OL filled up

And I think that's basically it. I dunno, maybe Ohio State wanted more guys than I listed. But those two OL are the only guys that ND even really recruited hard at all. That's why Michigan is holding onto all of their players. Kids with good alternative options are headed elsewhere... like the CB who flipped to Ohio State.

Small nitpick, he's actually rated 7th best by both composite and 247.

And looking at it closer he's basically T-4th as they have 3 recruits at a 95 and then he's at a 94... I hadn't looked at it closely until now, but it's kinda shocking that Michigan has zero top 50 recruits in either composite or 247. ND has multiple guys all rated far better than Michigan's best guy.

Michigan's best recruit? A freaking center.

This sounds about right. I defiantly agree Ohio State and ND have a better recruiting class then Michigan.
