He's been bringing people in to "talk offensive philosophy" namely Kiffin. Bama fans seem to be saying it as if it's common knowledge. They blame him for their last 3 losses due to playcalling. (they think he passes too much/doesn't run enough screens) Pass plays are critiqued for being too long developing. Really hope he tries that at UM with that OL. LOL.

The only year Kelly had a capable qb we went to the nc and that was with a sr fr.

Momentum and football is significant.

Alabama is wayyyyy overrated and so is saban. Just as any coach once it has gone so far. Is saban the best maybe.....but not near the level most paint the picture,

I would not trade kelly for anyone and our coordinators leaving is a blessing. Kelly is finally got the recruits, got the coaches and will win titles.

Also Bama fans seem to know a new OC was coming: It's Looking Like Doug Nussmeier | mgoblog

Alabama boards have been buzzing for weeks about who their new OC would be. Saban told Nussmeier to look around for a nice landing spot and Michigan provided one. For whatever reason, Nussmeier was just not process-y enough for Dear Robot.

I agree with Greyhammer.

Its a sexy headline bc of the word Alabama. He def had success there, but I mean in 2012 Bama had one of the greatest defenses in the history of college football out there with one of the greatest OLs in the history of college football. He basically had to not eff it up. He called a brilliant screen pass in the LSU game, but also cost them the game against AM by being too conservative. This year, he left a lot of question marks with his playcalling. And to be honest, you can put most the blame on him for their 2 losses if you are in the camp of questioning Diacos schemes.

He is a good coach, but hes not someone that you would bring in and change your entire philosophy for. Brian Kelly is a founding father of the spread and with the success he has had there is no reason to deviate from that. He has a set QBs that can run his O and he wont have to change it too much if someone goes down unlike the past 2 years with Rees.

I give props to Kelly for sticking to his guns and taking the time to find the right guy. And I also feel that it solidifies he is looking at someone on the outside. I have stated a few times on this site and different ones, that if he cant find the perfect fit, he has Denbrock or Alford or both in his back pocket where he has a comfort level. BK being patient and not hiring someone on the spot is a good thing for ND bc ND will get the right guy for it.

Then again, SI's Stewart Mandel thinks Saban wasn't a fan of this year's offense, and Nussmeier reportedly was interested in the currently vacant OC job at Notre Dame. Apparently Paul Finebaum was insinuating that Nussmeier wasn't long for the job yesterday, though I didn't hear that myself. The fact that UM swiped him mere hours after announcing Borges's firing would make it seem like this was prearranged. I don't think this was a, "leave so we don't have to fire you" deal, but it doesn't seem like Bama wanted to fight for him.

Bama fan on II stated Nussmeier and McCarron got into a little spat after the Auburn game and that led to the wheels being put in motion for his looking for a new job.

So the OC was fired because the QB disagreed with him?

Actually, the wheels were set in motion for Nuss to leave when Lane came down to review the offense recently. He explained every offensive tendency of Nuss when he was in the Pac 12 and then showed Nick every one of those same tendencies in Nick's offense. Mainly Boy Wonder showed Nick how a tremendous amount of plays were easily telegraphed and could tell him the next play Nuss would call in most situations. Also, he pointed out to Nick that Nuss was weak in the area of player matchups and thus was underutililizing the talent he had at Bama by not putting them in the best matchup position to make the play. I think he sold Nick on it and Nuss was told to begin looking around.
