We all know how these things end of in today’s world. If he survives, there’s a shotgun already loaded with other shady shit he has done that will spill out into the world. Just wait for it.

Good grief, they are really dragging this out (on purpose I might add)
How long does it take to determine what to do with UM? Two week investigation, then a whole 5 days (counting the weekend) to review the info from the investigating body and THEN you have a BOT meeting?
Are they going to release the BOT recommendation today or are they going to have to have a review of the review and determine UM's fate, which would most likely be sometime in mid January.

Could have been handled in about an hour. If Urban actually reported the incident up and can show that he did, the only question that remained would be whether tOSU wants to take the PR hit for keeping him around or buy him out to get him to leave. I know it's never that simple but the decision could have been made on what to do within an hour of the story breaking.... and probably was.

PLOT TWIST:

Some of the CFB peeps on Twitter say it is strange that he's there at all, regardless of projected outcome... if it was a suspension, he wouldn't be there because he'd simply be continuing his current punishment, and he'd want to avoid questioning on the spot. If he were getting fired, he'd be with his lawyer, agent, and personal PR guy right now waiting for the fallout.

Some reporters think he might be trying to throw the admin a final curveball as part of his reported efforts to push back against getting any punishment at all.

I would think he would be present in case the BoT had any specific questions for him. Something along the lines of:

BoT: "Coach Meyer, do you promise to straighten up and do right?"
UM: "Yes... I pinky swear."
BoT: "Awesome. You are free to resume your duties. Meeting adjourned."

Michigan should be placing calls to every major donor and coordinate a media (I'm sure Sam Zell would be happy to help) onslaught against Urban and the University if he's not fired. Money well spent if they want to win.

BoT: "Keep those grad rates at the highest in the country, and we're good."

UM: "You know I got you... watch how I do this."

Yup, agree 100%.
This is not difficult, they are just trying to wait until the dust settles so when they come to the predetermined outcome of keeping UM the blow back wont be as bad........

That'd be such an Urban Meyer thing to do. Sociopath indeed.

So, you're saying you and Urban think alike? Interesting........ ACamp for next ND football coach ;)

Basically...... Nah, honestly when I read grey's post I almost responded something like, "He's just there to power move the BoT and such, probably completely taking them off guard... it'd be a super UM thing to do."

Pics were taken at 9:42AM or a little sooner. It doesn't make sense for him to be there unless they made their decision to keep him and called him in so the prez could talk to him after the meeting.

If he is being let go, I would think they lawyers would be doing the talking and Urban wouldn't be on campus unless he is trying a power move, but that would probably keep him from coaching again. Academia don't like jocks showing them up.

I would love to hear the BOT discussion. I’m sure they all try to sound ethical, and focus on character, and the prestigue of the University. But everyone in there is thinking “yeah but this is Urban Freaking Meyer”. And I want to be there the moment someone finally says “Are we really going to cut one of the greatest football coaches of all time? This is crazy!”. He’s so good, they cannot do their job without keeping that in mind. And I credit the first one to pop and say “there’s no way he’s being let go”. We all know they’re thinking it.

I don't know... I've been in meetings with high ranking University officials and such. The idea that they are all bending to the knee to the football team may not be a safe assumption. I'd bet at least a few in there were ready to flex their muscle, question is were there enough of them?

Per Clark Kellog, "A good robust discussion is taking place. Progress is being made and no decision has been made. Urban Meyer is not in the room."

Agree. There are plenty of people in academia that don't give a rat's ass about football or any sport.

Yeah....... sure............uh-huh..........I bet there is......

This whole thing is laughable.
Does anyone (other than tO$U fans) think for 1 second that the leaking of "a good robust discussion" was unintentional? Give me a break...

Huh? Do you care to expand on this? If I was the one making the decision, I would not be thinking Urban is too great of a coach to be let go. If this is all true, I'm quite frankly shocked you'd say this. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to say.

I'm saying there is no way he's being let go, and if you don't think it's in the back of their mind that he's an all time great CFB coach in his prime, I disagree with you.

They're not deciding this in a vacuum. They're deciding this realizing who the coach is, that the program is premier right now, how much that brings in, and how hard it is to get an elite CFB coach.

There are arguably only 3 of them in the world, and he's 1 of them.

All true. Add to that the fact that pOSU could potentially be on the hook for 38 million dollars if they fire him, all but guarantees the outcome.

This is all true, from a football fan perspective... I'm telling from my experience that I can almost guarantee there are some in that room who want blood because they are the exact opposite of 'football fan' and probably hold the athletics department in contempt to begin with. Now I also agree he'll probably not be going anywhere for a wide variety of reasons, but it won't be because "everyone in there is thinking 'yeah but this is Urban Freaking Meyer'”.

While all of this is probably true, I don't agree with it. So, when you say you give "credit" to the first person to say it, I'm kind of shocked. Sounds like you agree with the outcome and would make the same decision. That's kind of crazy to me.

I don't agree with the outcome, or that they're probably thinking about it.

My assumption is they are - you guys can disagree with that or not.

My "credit" was for the first person to have the ballz to actually say that out loud, rather than just spin around it but derive at the same conclusion.

IMO, there will be 2 types of people in there. 1) that knows they want to keep Urban, but will be politically correct and 'ignore' the fact that he's a great coach, but they'll be making sure to protect him in their reasoning. 2) One that also wants to keep him, and actually has the stones to speak directly about how great he is and how it factors in to the other BOT's.

Neither are the right way of thinking, but I at least respect person #2 for not faking it.

That is how it came across to me as well, that Koon agrees he should stay. Shocked if that is the case.

I don't agree he should stay. At least I don't have enough info to know one way or another.

I'm saying he's staying, and I at least have some respect for the BOT's that actually talk openly about his greatness playing a factor, over the BOT's who will do that anyway, but talk around it acting like it's not a factor.

You are still looking at this from a football fan angle... I promise you that room is not filled with myopic views like that.
