Urban needs to pick a QB and ride him to the end without the fear of the other one looking over his shoulder.

I thought if Braxton was healthy he should have went with him, but since that doesn't seem to be the case after all the Cardale drama, I'd go with JT. He's the more mature player.

Buckeye fans i know are putting the blame on Tim Beck for their offensive woes. Nebraska fans are surely chuckling about his struggles

I think Barrett is the best option for OSU. He is more efficient and more under control when he's on the field.

Cardale makes amazing things happen because of his size and his arm strength, but it also feels like he's an extra second or two from disaster on nearly every play.

The most perplexing thing is that two of my very good friends are about as die-hard OSU as you can be, and they both tell me that they prefer Cardale. I think they are blinded by the natty run, which saw unprepared teams trying to deal with a tank running play action. Now teams know that to beat Cardale, just send the house at him in passing situations and force him to be efficient (which is beginning to look like his weakness).

Very true.

coupled with the fact that he doesn't have devin smith to launch it to on those play action passes getting one on one coverage. This was a concern of their's throughout the spring and fall camp season. they don't have the burner on the field like a will fuller that will just take the top off the coverage.

one thing I don't like right now too as the fact that Samuel, Braxton, and jalin marshall don't play all at the same time. I think if they want to get better they'll need to put packages in with those three on the field and force the defense to defend all of them, but that's not urban's offense.

going to be interesting to see what they can come up with before sparty comes to town, which might end up being a #1 vs #2 game if espn and the other pollers have their way.

For a supposed coaching genius, Urbie was probably the last man in america to figure this out.

Urbie really likes Cardale and I believe he talked him into coming back to Columbus and felt he needed to reward Cardale for that.

You're right though, JT is so much better.

Tells me all I need to know about whether Joe Schmidt is starting because he is the best option or because of some other reason.

Anyone who thinks coaches are beyond making personnel mistakes is a fool.

No info, but I'll bet anything Urban promised Cardale the starting job without telling anyone else.

I know. Jones reminded me of Russel from LSU (big, strong, cannon arm) who was "the hottest thing going" because he had a great bowl game and then never met expectations with the Raiders.

I agree completely. In fact I had written that I think the CJ situation is similar to our JS situation and deleted it.

Through the OH rumor mill I had heard that the press conference that Cardale had last year was to announce he was leaving and going pro. Then Urbie showed up...

That decision cost Cardale millions of dollars.

That makes three threads in which you're ripping Joe Schmidt. That's some kind of focus.

Just messin' with you.

It's a stupid mistake that should carry consequences but I hope Barrett doesn't get railroaded just because his idiot coach put his foot in his mouth trying to make himself appear a paragon of virtue.

Tried to avoid a ovi checkpoint and police I guess tracked him down

Blew barely over the limit but over the limit

Cardale bailed him out and gave him a ride home

See, that's not good.

Avoiding the checkpoint shows that he knew he wouldn't pass.

And remember, it takes a while for the blood alcohol level to rise; if you pound an unreasonable amount, and get on the road immediately, a field sobriety test would most likely show a lower level than if you had a bit less alcohol over a longer period of time, and tried to wait out the buzz.

I wouldn't worry about that. Like posted above, 2 games sounds about right, and IMO is enough.

@McMurphyESPN: Ohio State’s athletics policy indicates J.T. Barrett could be subject to 2-week suspension. OSU off this week, vs. Minnesota Nov. 7
