Away against the two best teams in the conference (Clemson and FSU). At least we don't have to go to Blacksburg though.

Really balanced schedule...

3 "tough" teams in 2014 = 2 home, 1 away
1 "tough" team in 2015 = 0 home, 1 away... I'm assuming Mike London doesn't turn UVA into a powerhouse, but you never know with all of the talent in Virginia Beach/the Carolinas these days
2 "tough" teams in 2016 = 2 home, 0 away

The 'double' up' team is Syracuse. Not too shabby. Obviously, the home/away thing will rotate for the 3 years following... will be interesting see if the ACC has added another team by then and we won't have to 'double up' with anyone for that slate.

So are we "over" by one now in 2014 or no? I thought someone said we needed to drop another game in to get the 5 ACC opponents...

Right, and I thought that was being replaced by FSU. Looking at this site: 2014 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Schedule we were supposed to play Pitt and Syracuse already, so replace ASU with FSU, Pitt with one of the others let's say Wake, add in one freebie because there was only 11 games listed (UNC), and you still have an extra game with Louisville...

So this:
8/30 Rice
9/6 Michigan
9/13 Purdue
9/20 OPEN
9/27 Syracuse
10/4 Stanford
10/11 Temple
10/18 OPEN
10/25 ASU
11/1 Navy
11/8 Pitt
11/15 Northwestern
11/22 OPEN
11/29 USC

Becomes this (EXAMPLE):
8/30 Rice
9/6 Michigan
9/13 Purdue
9/20 OPEN North Carolina
9/27 Syracuse
10/4 Stanford
10/11 Temple
10/18 OPEN
10/25 ASU FSU
11/1 Navy
11/8 Pitt Wake Forest
11/15 Northwestern
11/22 OPEN
11/29 USC

Louisville????

I count 11 games there plus Louisville. Maybe I'm missing something?

well now with the edit I see what you're saying. I don't know if anything has come out with how that will be worked out.

Syracuse away twice?

I guess the next set of 15 will see SU being one of 8 home games.

Morgan Burke, Purdue AD:

“@carminjc: Burke said ND series now "off cycle" w/ #B1G going to 9 games starting in 2016.”

“@carminjc: Burke on playing 7 home games vs. keeping ND: "I cannot balance the budget on six home games. Can’t do it. It doesn't work." #Purdue”

“@carminjc: Burke to meet with ND AD Jack Swarbrick next 2 weeks. "Both of us want to see if we can make it work." #Purdue”

I don't get it... 9 conf games = 5 home, 4 away alternating... so have ND be "away" when they have 4 away games... and schedule the other two opponents... presumably cupcakes... for home games. There's your 7-5. This is similar to what every B1G school will be doing except some schools (see: Michigan) are going to push hard to make sure they can still wrangle 8 home games every year possible.

I could care less about keeping Purdue. Notre Dame is moving into the 21st Century, the Big Ten is not.

You guys are crazy. Name me any other team with as minimal travel as Purdue that can also be used as a quasi tune up game that is also a BCS conference team that we have history with. Oh yeah there aren't any. This is the ideal early season home-and-home opponent for us.

I swear to God if you let posters on this board make a schedule it would look something like:

Michigan
Boston College
@Florida State
@Miami
Texas (in Cowboys Stadium)
New England Patriots (in London)
@Virginia Tech (night game)
Stanford
Navy (in Pacific Ocean [game played on super carriers lashed together])
@USC
NFC Pro Bowl Squad (space football... played on the moon or international space station)

And then you all would complain about not going undefeated against a schedule that only had 4 true road games.

Not to mention Purdue will be trending upwards with Hazell, not that there is any possible way they can go further south.

Good points. The Purdue series is extremely boring, but not every series can be an exciting rivalry or top notch opponent. Purdue fills a good niche.
