I think this thread belongs here. Aside from being our previous coach, he is an ND alum. I will be following Kansas closely because I hope Charlie does well and really hope Dayne plays very well. I'm sure others feel the same way.

I for one, am very interested in seeing how Kansas does this year and will watch any and all games available to me on my ridiculously large tv. I will be rooting for Dayne and Charlie to succeed.

Now that Chuck released the QB he was holding hostage, I'm back on board.

I think watching Kansas will be enjoyable...I might learn what its like to be a normal casual fan...

It should be a niice escape, and I like that I don't have to go to a KU board...this is just enough...

He may actually do very well because of that.

He's had time to experience what being a college coach is like at the most pressure packed job. Now he goes to a place with very low pressure and psyches them up because now they have a real (kind of) celebrity coach.

It could be real interesting.

Sorry again guys, but he was not and will not be a good head coach. He was a very good offensive coordinator, and that's it. He throws around Parcels and Bellichek (spelling may be wrong) as if he can take credit for what they had done. Patriots are still good because of the system even the coaches have been plug and play. I will leave this forum permantly if at anytime Weis can take another team to a bcs game. However the last .fata$$ did pretty good there so time will tell.

Wow this topic is apparently too sensitive for me be on here talking about. Seriously Weis didn't understand the mentality at the college level because kids need to get jacked up for games. He said he wasn't that type of coach so he better be now. Weis seemed humbled when he took the job at Kansas. I don't hate the guy at all, but his arrogance proved to be his downfall..

Thanks for your response! I have gotten into with a few people on other sights when they referred to CHarlie in this manner. I will never understand personal attacks about someones weight just because they didn't succeed. He loves ND and tried the best he could. It wasn't good enough, once more he has admitted mistakes. I am hoping he can turn Kansas around.

Kansas fan chatter seems happy with Charlie's approach so far both in what he's been saying [including reasonable first year goals] and his recruiting and the transfers coming. Hopefully he'll have some success in a tough place to win [in football]. I was intrigued to hear that the linemen were already talking about how much tougher the CONDITIONING was! If that's true then that's a sign right off that he's learned something important about head coaching in the NCAA.

When a new coaching staff comes in, the conditioning is always tougher than the last regime... hmmm. Weis is doomed to fail because he hired the same loser staff he had at ND. His teams were always soft.

You just dig your hole deeper. "Ianello was an awful WR Coach" Psst, the 4 most prolific receiving seasons in ND history took place while Ianello was WR Coach.

As ND WR coach he turned a HS RB who could only run fly patterns as a freshman into a Biletnikoff winner and an All-American. Under his mentoring Samardzija was a 2 time Biletnikoff Finalist and an All-American. How many other Biletnikoff Winners/Finalists has ND had?

Ianello also coached Kamara to a record breaking freshman year. Then coach Floyd breaking Kamara's record. As I recall Stovall and McKnight also caught a lot of passes under Ianello's guidance.

At Wisconsin he converted a backup QB into a TE who became a 4th Round NFL Draft choice and a Pro Bowler.

At Arizona he developed a pair of All Pac 10 WRs.


Ianello has also been recognized as a top recruiter at every place he's been an Recruiting Coordinator by Rivals, ESPN, and Lemming. Recruiting Coordinator is a significant part of his coaching duties. He had what, 4 Top 15 Recruiting Classes in his 4 recruiting seasons at ND?
