I've agreed with this, but I think they need to bring back one free transfer. If you sign and want to go to a different school the next day, congrats, one free transfer. Now you have to sit if you want to go anywhere else.

Why? Why can't you be eligible as long as you're enrolled and taking classes?

Because no other sport allows players to switch teams constantly with the teams having no recourse or say in the matter.

This is all resolved through multi-year contracts that tie scholarships, NIL and clear transfer rules all together but apparently that would define student-athletes as "employees" and we clutch pearls at that idea. But the current system is incredibly not sustainable.

I don't disagree but that's when the mouthbreathers started going "Muhhh...the coaches can leave whenever they want....muhhh"

As if comparing what a 30-60 year old is doing with their professional career/livelihood and what a college kid is doing is not a false equivalent.

"But but but a regular kid can transfer to a different college whenever they want"

Correct, and so can an athlete--just can't play the sport for a year at the new for the obvious reason that you mentioned that there has to be some semblance of a contact/commitment with the realm of team sports or otherwise the other 100 or so people involved get impacted too. But if you run out that train of thought you're being a Big Meanie to the kid plus "Like you could switch your job whenever you want so why are you even saying anything about this?"

Otherwise, by all means transfer to the new school and immediately jump right into your academics as I'm sure that was the underlying reason you were transferring in the first place, just like a "regular" kid

I took a duece this morning and as I flushed I wished it well and kindly asked that it float to Notre Dame… I’m sure this will work just as well as going all Bang Bang Notre Dame gang and messaging this kid love letters. Maybe we can get Tee Sheppard and Deontay Greenberry to add him to the Facebook group….

I'm assuming that if a NIL contract is front end loaded so that all/most of the money is paid up front, the contract is written in a way that the athlete has to pay back a portion of the up front payment if they don't fulfill the terms of the contract.

I would have to think the big donors are doing what they can to protect their interests.

He's still telling MF he's coming. Tough spot for the staff to be in.
Sad when a kid can look you in the eye and flat out lie.
If he was coming, he would have shut down the Auburn rumors by now because he wouldnt want it to negatively impact the recruiting class that he has been a part of and helped build.

Right idea but instead of young kids we should do it with some our our recruits mom's. We should focus on flipping Vines-Bright first though. If Heather Vines Bright sending Duece a video saying "I need you" doesn't work then nothing will keep him.
Along those same lines I was going to suggest that we use the on campus talent instead of the moms, but I could see Ole Miss blowing us out of the water in a counter attack followup lol.

I think he's waiting to hear "final offer". Not saying that's wrong. Just how I feel.

He racked up a lot of yards on poor defenses that season. He struggled in the two biggest games that year, Cincinnati and Oklahoma State. To be fair, he was pretty good for a half against Oklahoma State when their coverage was soft, Coan actually set a Fiesta Bowl passing record that 1st half, but when they wised up and played him tight 2nd half he completely disappeared. That was the story of his career, along with the drops.
Granted, Cincinnati did have the best CB college football has seen in a while covering him

It didn't really matter who was covering Austin that year though. Same thing happened against Oklahoma State and a few others. He just disappeared if the teams played tight coverage. He did better in soft coverages or zone.
