I think Loy is terrific. He’s the only one going out on a limb. I could care less about the guys who put in a prediction at the last minute when everyone knows who a guy is choosing. Their job is to prognosticate to some degree. He does this well. I greatly enjoy the game, especially when it’s boring, with no real meaningful activity.

Loy's got his problems (as seen in the Davis Andrews update), but I appreciate that Loy uses the Crystal Ball as it's intended and not exclusively when a recruit gives a silent. Prescod, Young, and Johnson were clearly projection picks. Nate Roberts he had in April. Loghan Thomas prior to his visit. Guerby Lambert back in October. Sure the misses catch him some flack, but the concept of the crystal ball needs to go away to begin with.

Yep. Loy is simply reporting what he’s being told. It’s not his fault that the staff isn’t great at reading the room and misses out on guys they’re confident in landing. I suspect KVA will be the latest example.

It looks like Loy had an article hyping up a big 2024 target that is visiting soon and it's Andrews. People find it funny because he won't be on campus until 2026 and since he's from Utah, it's entirely possible that if he signs with ND he changes his mind in the next 2 years and enrolls at Utah or BYU.

Loy was the only one that stayed on the “Tae Johnson to ND” train after his junior day prediction in January.

Loy has his flaws, but he nowhere near the worst on the beat. Hell, one could argue he's had a better cycle than ISD.

Not Loy's fault the staff hasn't closed. He reports what he hears. Which is from the staff..

He keeps reporting that Andrews is taking the mission so not much of a chance to say told you so when he's just saying what everyone else is. Though I'm sure he'll try.

Why is it an inaccurate description?

I’ve heard from multiple people I trust that Andrews was a “take no matter what” kid for ND.
ND has 3 Safties already & Andrews was the one they were saving the 4th spot for.

You might not think he’s that good, but I can assure you that Marcus Freeman thinks he is that good. This kid is on ND’s board because of Marcus Freeman.
That would make him a “huge target” for ND, when he is the Head Coach’s guy.

That’s an argument to have with Marcus Freeman, not me, or Loy.

ND holds Davis Andrews on some high pedestal.
So if a ND coach tells Loy that Andrews is their top guy, regardless if you or I agree with that, then that’s what Loy will, and should, report.
He can’t just ignore the actual coaches at ND & post what fans perceive.
