He's worth the risk. Worst case scenario is that he transfers out within a year. Best case is that he's a three year starter, two time All American, and a top 15 draft pick.

This goes to my post last night. Look at the landscape. How many of these five star kids come without any headaches and shenanigans?

We have to shop down THIS aisle, even with all the pitfalls.

I think he wanted ND round 2.
Told ND he's coming
Calls OK to say bye
They magically come up with money
...ok, now we're talking

I think OK striking out on 2 five stars yesterday hurt them. I think knowing that they have the chance to buy one on a day-after sale woke them up.
I wouldn’t be shocked with whatever team he picks. My point is, ND has a legitimate shot and should keep fighting for him.

Correct. And if immaturity is his biggest flaw, that’s worth the risk.

Also, at this point it would be such an epic waste of the last year to say “nah, we’re good” if he’s still available…which, as of this post, he is.

Not if mom has a say. Seeing her reaction, ND isn’t out of it.
His Mom seems like good people. She's obviously a smart lady to favor ND. That being said, the Oregon or Oklahoma check hitting their bank account will help her get over being disappointed.

Why? That’s not an elite trio. Hillman has a ton of developing to do. Minich is at his ceiling already. Shuler will be a good college player, nothing special.

Bowen is elite. And in the real world, teams put up with more shit from talented players.

How do you know? That’s just a ton of projecting.

He’s a pathological liar and looks like future, potential locker room cancer. Sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

Tennessee lost their chance at a CFP on the heels of NIL and locker room issues. One game. If Bowen ended up being that one guy, I don’t want him in the locker room. Freeman made multiple references to this type of worry in his presser. I choose the rest of the class over him.

So? Tuitt’s recruitment was also a shit show.
This is way worse. The kid literally goes out and tells all the ND commits and coaches he will be committing to ND after telling the same thing to the Oklahoma recruiting class. He then commits to Oklahoma. Then from Loys intel posted on here today he regrets it and tells both the ND staff and the Oklahoma staff he recgrets it and wants back in on their class. This shit has been going on for months. He cannot stop lying to people. Plus all the drama and the hat thing is very disrespectful given the situation. This kid has lying issues, commitment issues and ego issues.

Thune's on Twitter and thinks they've got it locked up....again.
Idiot Sooners in the comments "People owe you an apology!" Brah, he didn't even have an OU hat on the table yesterday. You're sloppy thirds at best if this happens because a deal fell through

If that's the case, see ya, kids like that will tear a room apart. I have played (hockey) in both JR and College with pure cancers. They divide rooms, effect performance and relationships even after they are gone. It's likely not worth it, but I am also a God fearing Christian and believe in forgiveness and redemption.

This whole thing blows my mind. I get embarrassed when my 5 year old throws a fit at Target, I can't imagine what his folks feel like.

In a weird way, I think the way this recruitment has gone could actually make the BoT LESS likely to address their approach to NIL. If they’re saying what most on here are saying, then they may well see Bowen’s recruitment and feel that opening the purse strings for kids who exhibit these types of antics isn’t worth it and would be damaging to the reputation of the university.

I think, if the coaching staff is using losing out on 5* talent as a means of increasing our play in the NIL scene, they’re better off using Keeley as the exemplar and not Bowen or Moore.

Again, I still think you recruit Bowen until it’s OVER over…but I don’t think this recruitment is likely to move the needle for the BoT—but maybe Keeley’s would.

Loy stating one source of his thinks it will be OU.
Said this yesterday. I don’t expect the Oregon NIL package to actually work out how it was presented to him and for him to ultimately take the “easy” choice that he didn’t disrespect. ND is not going to “push” for him, at least from what I’ve heard. He’d have to beg to be in the class at this point. Staff isn’t bending over backwards to deal with a habitual liar who also also clearly has a poor support structure and misaligned priorities.

And before people say this is sour grapes, coaches in every sport drop kids all the time because of “fit” and because of their parents and lots of other reasons. Had one of my players last year get dropped by a Big Ten school because his dad offended the coach with something innocuous about wanting to consider all their options and take their time. What Bowen did yesterday crosses so many lines it is hard to walk back.

The whole thing - abruptly committing to Notre Dame a year ago, dragging it out all season with Oklahoma, flat-out lying to our recruits and staff on Tuesday, the hat move, the look of absolute shock/disappointment on his mom's face, now coming back with second thoughts? - it's just too much.
I get being torn, not knowing what you want. Then take your time and make a decision the right way. He didn't have to announce on Wednesday, and this kid's entire recruitment has been a mess. That's not likely to end this week. We've got 24 other kids who want to be here. I'm fine riding with them.

I want to find out why OK hat wasn't on the table yesterday, but now this?

Something pretty crazy must have changed - or he was OK all along and this the greatest PR troll attention shit I've ever seen.

I don't think it's that crazy. Either the Oregon $ didn't pan out as they thought or he made too many people with him angry by that choice. The way he did ND dirty burned that bridge, but he didn't do OU as dirty since their hat was never displayed.

MLB Banks was suspended for fighting with Hooker in the locker room, over NIL. No Banks for the game, divided locker room.
I'm afraid that we'll hear more stories like this - and worse
NIL is going to be a cancer
No closing this pandora's box

Yep. A lot of people didn't like Freeman's comments yesterday about not worrying over the ones you don't get, but he's entirely correct about that mindset. It was instilled in me as a GA by some young coaches that went on to Power Five jobs while on my first signing day, sitting around and name dropping guys we didn't get when we had signed one of the best classes in the school's history that ended up winning two conference championships. It has served me well professionally and personally two decades later.

That's tacky shit for fans to worry about. A coaching staff cannot. You get the ones that sign and get to work. All the mental gymnastics is for the mouth breathers. Google Omar Hunter and CJ Leak. Tell me what they're up to. I don't know and don't give a fuck.

The staff learns from their mistakes, assesses needs for the next class and presses ahead.

Loy just said Bowen spoke with ND after and told them he wants to go to South Bend...an hour after that he told OK he wants to be there....

He is not remorseful. He is still lying.
I don’t think he’s lying. I think he legitimately wants to go to each school for different reasons and is clearly being pulled in a million different directions behind the scenes.
