Remember when everyone wanted NIL and the Portal?

Sorry, just bitter my beloved Irish can't or won't compete. We have the coach/recruiting chops finally and now we still can't get ahead. Maybe BK saw the writing on the wall. Bummed

Can't win championships without difference makes all over the field. Recent history has proven the following:

You can only win a championship with elite talent at the QB position, UNLESS...you field an elite defense. This cycle alone we lost an elite QB, elite WDE, and now (likely) elite safety.

Hate to burst your bubble, but we're not winning any championships anytime soon. Best we can hope for is to finally get that "NY6" monkey off our back. That's our new ceiling IMO, at least until we find a way to better navigate these NIL waters.

If ND hits on any of Minchey, Carr, and/or transfer QB, they’ll be just fine. We can’t have another Pyne situation no matter how elite the defense is.

Agree 100% you can miss the chance of a championship goodbye. ND needs to do a few things if they want to compete.
1. They need to get with the program with NIL. All 5 star guys want money up front, if you can’t offer it then the next team will.
2. ND needs to lesson their academic standards for athletes so ND can have success in the transfer portal
Just because he is a 5 star doesn’t mean he is a difference maker. He may be in the bench for 2 years.

You can't burst my bubble because your opinions and prognostications mean very little to me. I still love our class and no amount of whining or complaining on this board will change my view of the class. Great class that could've been better but NIL/girlfriend lost us 3+ top recruits.

No, it's not. But it's still very good. We just need to stack top 5-7 classes together and get better qbs. Which we are.

NIL and the portal may end up evening things out a bit. ALL the talent won't be at the same four programs anymore.
Maybe, but it’s still top heavy. 4 of the top 10 recruiting programs in 2023 are SEC, 2 of them will be SEC soon. So 6 of them are essentially SEC, add Ohio State and Clemson who have been mainstays in the top10. Miami and ND are the other two with Florida (SEC) making a charge toward the top 10. If Florida jumps anyone to get into the top 10 you will essentially have 7 of the top 10 teams in the 2023 recruiting class SEC. The recipe for winning just might be to not play SEC teams.

The SEC seems to playing the game better than anyone. It’s like they’ve been doing this for years.

When are we officially turning this into a drinking & being bitter thread?

Just got done sparring & grappling & was trying to decide if I was going to drink today like usual since I did last night instead.
I will leave my decision up to the board with the Bowen crap.

Hey do you do MMA?
I did it professionally for 7 years. Retired from it in 2015.
Now I train other pros, military, police, feds, fire fighters, etc…
I still do it for fun & to stay in shape, but not more than just sparing with other guys who have events scheduled.
I had another real career too in medical research.

Drink man, it's the weekend/holidays/day that ends in "y" (or whatever generic excuse you need to justify it).

Watch us go 7-5 next year and we're right back in the Davie/Willingham/Weis years.

Well if we don't get to the "Kelly Standard" of double digit wins by MF Year II I am officially panicking and starting to raise money for either Coach Prime or Urban Meyer to come to South Bend
What are you doing posting here when your Oregon St is playing?

The food threads are the worst trend on this board right now, including the recent influx of garbage posters.
When it becomes a food thread you know it's over, so you might as well stay out at that point...just let it go.

Does the cauliflower make it more difficult to hear?

No.
All you need is a pinhole size hole to hear.
My right ear isn’t too bad. I had surgery on my left to make it somewhat presentable. It was pretty bad.
Right handed, not southpaw, right? Guessing it would make sense that your left is taking more shots with your body angled towards the right.

Yeah.
And I usually passed guard to the right so my left ear would be buried against their body & just receiving all the friction.
