Loy commented again. Dudes a clown. He knows more than what he's saying. Idk how people continue to have a subscription with him. The Dante end saga would of been enough me. (I share an account with my Illinois buddies, I cant post on the ND site, just observe)

"I have connections on this one on both sides. Just going to have to see what happens. But I’ll keep digging as always."

This class is sweet, that said, MF and the gang better win this year or its going to be donezo.

Now on the other hand. Bowen has, while admittedly being led into it, said some awfully definitive things about his commitment lately. And i get they are children etc etc… but I would sure have some character question about someone asked clear concise yes/no questions and says yes when he knows it is no.

But that is Loy's job. Building relationships with these young men and reporting that info. If he hurts those relationships, what good is he? We know what happend with Dante Moore, he committed and then he burned us.

This is an industry dependant on teenagers. If a recruit is telling everyone he is going to Notre Dame and then wakes up on his announcement day and decides to go to Alabama, is that the reporters fault or just the nature of the business?

All they can do is report what they know currently. All we can do is hope it works out. Hopefully in Bowens case, it works out for us.

I don’t think he needed to drag Moore like Driskell did but he over the top to ends of the earth defended him on a personal level that really no one cares about. On the actual recruiting front that we do care about, he said basically “then things changed”. Summarized months of questions into one like 8 word sentence. Compare that to his co-worker Kevin Sinclair acknowledged, without any flaming or disrespect when he thought there were some red flags. I don’t think the latter would have burned a single bridge.

On Bowen, if the OU 247 site is reporting visits, even if they try to be coy about it, there is no reason the ND 247 site shouldn’t be.

Correct he could have stated timelines and facts without using the flavor shading adjectives and adverbs and allowed the paying readers to form their own opinion.

Because if your not value added and burn your subscribers then you don’t have a job. I get it is a fine line but there does have to be the big honest reveal when enough time has passed. If my $100 a year never gets me what Devante did or the weird ass Jalen Guyton story then why should I pay for anything. Loy was crap. Loy worked hard and built one of the better if not best reps on the beat. Loy shit the bed with Moore, Moore, and maybe now Bowen.
So what exactly DID Davonte do?

Well that is Loy right? I think he is overall good at his job but we also know he is a homer and he actively avoids drama. This is where you miss a guy like Pete Sampson on the recruiting trail.

That said, If you are an ND reporter and you hear Bowen is taking a visit but you can't confirm it, How in good conscience can you report that? Tom Loy isn't sharing Brandon Drumm's info, he is sharing his info. This is where I look at stuff like message boards or certain websites and think they have eroded what we think of as reporting.

Brandon Drumm is good at his job. If he says this is happening than we should all take that seriously. This isn't EJ Holland. But if the Bowen team is lying to or not returning calls from ND writers than what do you expect? Them to make it up? Or to share second hand info? All they can say is they are looking into it.

I think Bowen ends up sticking. He is close with the recruits and is actively recruiting for the Irish. He and his family understand the importance of an education. If his knee gets blown out his freshman year, he would be waaaaaaay better off with an ND degree than a crappy Oklahoma or A&M one. No brainer. My kid would be going somewhere where his future family is set for life, no matter what happens on the field. Too many variables.

Shopping down this aisle is like going to your local Kroger and trying to get to the butcher counter to buy the highest quality grade beef. There’s some there, but not much and everybody wants it.

Oh, and to get back there you have to chug three FourLokos and the floor is lined with mousetraps. And there are strobe lights. And laser beams you have to avoid. And that terrifying Incan guard from Legends of the Hidden Temple could jump out at any time and end the game for you.

But other than that it’s just crootin’

This sounds eerily similar to a night I spent in Cavanaugh Hall

I noticed Sea Turtle hasn't chimed in with a "All is well", so we should land this guy.

Not sure if it was posted here, but the OU insider was asked the reason for his no shot comment and it boiled down to "If you want to be at Notre Dame, you don’t keep visiting other schools."

So it doesn't seem like it was a "my inside info indicates ND has no shot here" comment so much as "reading the tea leaves, it is my opinion Notre Dame has no shot. here" Which is way less worrisome.

Agreed. And while that may be statistically "true" for us from a historical standpoint, NDFB recruiting under Freeman is clearly a different beast from what we're used to.

I saw some touting of Thune’s CB record. He was the very last one to put in a ND CB for Tyson Ford. Less than 24 hours before announcement.

Bowen is mostly visiting one school, where he has friends.

Honest question what’s the difference between Bowen visiting OU with friends and Tillery visiting LSU with friends? Is it just cause we have a bad taste in our mouths right now from Moore?

I hope her perspective is correct and we (me included) look like idiots as we get to the season or closer to ESD.

I say he sticks. If he is indeed recruiting for ND and taking visits the other schools would have to accept him to visit, right? Tell them what they want to hear to get the trojan horse through the gates? Anyone else as optimistic as me?
I will put my own CB in for ND here.

Ryan Roberts on the IB podcast said he spoke to his source on the OU side & that source told him Bowen was still ND’s to lose. That Bowen was still fully committed to ND.
He then said he spoke with Bowen’s mom (not sure when?) & she is 100% on the ND train. The family wants ND.
Then him and Bryan said they talked to recruits and they said at the future 50 he was recruiting hard for ND. And just this week he was contacting kids & recruiting for ND.

They said that’s important because with other recruits, like Dante, who went elsewhere, that was the first bad sign, when recruits told them they hadn’t heard from Dante and he wasn’t recruiting for ND anymore.

And with Walker last year the family did not want him at ND, unlike Bowen.
