I hope her perspective is correct and we (me included) look like idiots as we get to the season or closer to ESD.
Well, let's see here........

We can take the momma, Amee, at her word. She has some experience in observing the behaviors and attitudes of Peyton and Eli

OR, we can take the "smartest man in Norman," some kid named Thune who is more interested in clickbait than the welfare and happiness and future of the Brothers Bowen.

Not a hard choice!

And a 1st round draft pick. Give me the drama in recruiting if it gives me wins.
Tillery wasn't even actual drama, IIRC, just message board stressing. He lived in Shreveport and liked going to party at LSU. Who wouldn't?
He also requested a personal meeting with Fr. Hesburgh on a trip to Notre Dame and took an OV to Dartmouth. He was never actually in doubt. And once he grew up a little bit he was a warrior for us. I miss that cat.

I guess I am just referring to the drama of us old farts going crazy that one of our 16-17 recruits is going to colleges not named Notre Dame.

Ryan Roberts on the IB podcast said he spoke to his source on the OU side & that source told him Bowen was still ND’s to lose. That Bowen was still fully committed to ND.
He then said he spoke with Bowen’s mom (not sure when?) & she is 100% on the ND train. The family wants ND.
Then him and Bryan said they talked to recruits and they said at the future 50 he was recruiting hard for ND. And just this week he was contacting kids & recruiting for ND.

They said that’s important because with other recruits, like Dante, who went elsewhere, that was the first bad sign, when recruits told them they hadn’t heard from Dante and he wasn’t recruiting for ND anymore.

And with Walker last year the family did not want him at ND, unlike Bowen.
Let’s keep this train moving. Gotta make sure we have a good year this year.

Honest question what’s the difference between Bowen visiting OU with friends and Tillery visiting LSU with friends? Is it just cause we have a bad taste in our mouths right now from Moore?
If I remember correctly, this board had the same response to Tillery visiting LSU. Exact same response.

Yes that’s a fair assessment. I thought Tillery would flip & am grateful he did not flip. But fan is short for fanatic and we (& I assume most fans) only remember the ones that got away. I do think most that drag out like this after a public commitment tend to not end well for ND. I also acknowledge that ND has been on the receiving end of situations like this where the Irish were able to flip kids who were publicly committed to another school.

Tillery was a pretty unique kid. I wouldn't necessarily compare this one and that one.
Also, while we do flip recruits, it's pretty rare for us to flip someone from another elite program (like Oklahoma for instance). Usually we pluck guys we like from schools that are a tier below us in the pecking order.

All that said, if Bowen is indeed actively recruiting kids for Notre Dame and talking us up and keeping the staff up to speed, I'm less worried about him going to Oklahoma with friends or going to see places with his brother. But we'll see.

You'd have to think someone like Drayk would say something to Freeman/any coach if someone goes radio silent in their group chats. Especially after the Moore saga.

I imagine he would. I just listened to a podcast this morning and they had Drayk as a guest. He said he talks to Peyton, and Adon the most and he has no reason to believe he won’t be a part of this class. He did say he didn’t know why he was visiting all the other schools but again feels confident he sticks.

Let's not forget these kids are 16-17 year old kids and we are in a new era of college football with NIL.

Post #420 has me sold. Drayk Bowen is the Dayne Crist of the class by keeping in contact with recruits.

Sure it is bothersome that he is visiting OU, but maybe Bowen/James are recruiting Arnold to ND; we do need a QB.

For anyone worried that Freeman is all of a sudden going to quit recruiting Bowen need to get a new hobby, we have a HC that is going to recruit his ass off.

I think Bowen sticks.

Same response from beat guys as well. They see a guy at another school and they immediatly want it to be a story.

I mean, does Saban really need arguably the 3 best safeties in the class? (Mitchell, Downs, and Bowen) F*** Bama.

When Tillery said he wanted to meet Father Hesburgh, I posted that he was Irish. That was the biggest indicator on where he was going.

He does that’s how he has won. He isn’t the best coach but he surrounds himself with soooo much talent. The guy was a failure at NFL level.

He was around .500 in the NFL despite inheriting a pretty bad team.
They were improving & one game away from the playoffs.
If he stayed they would have been better & he would have been successful. The Dolphins were worse before & after he left.
He was successful at Michigan St with less talent & even won a title at LSU beating multiple teams who had much more talent than LSU at that time. He is the reason LSU became a powerhouse when Les Miles was there and since.
Saban loses coordinators & coaches every single season & still wins.
His first title at Bama was with recruiting classes either he inherited (that were below .500 teams) or outside the top 10.

Dude is a great, elite, legendary coach.
