2 things on that....

1) If you would have told my 2018 self that "ND recruiting" and "financial package" would be used jointly, I would have assumed you would be talking about summer school tuition. CFB is freaking nuts, and not in a good way.

2) What the hell is market value anyway? Is there some super secret spreadsheet that tabulates future football success and imperfect recruiting rankings, along with bragging rights for select boosters? I say that sarcastically, but using terms like that right now is just crazy to me. There is no way to value this other than what someone is willing to pay. This just proves how imbalanced of a country we live in where some rich boosters are now as important, or even more important, than the staff or university. Again, nuts.

Not sarcasticly, On3 has an NIL Value thing.

well, a quibble or two.

First, CFB left "being freaking nuts" a long time ago. We are not talking street walking crazy, we are talking straitjackets and heavy medication.

Second, I recommend McKay "Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" There are rational market theories, Ben Graham blah blah, but the Quinn Ewers/A&M/TN quarterback situation have nothing in common with rational markets. Really, truly, it is much like Dutch Tulip Bulbs.(investigate McKay and you will understand)

And this thing of booster control predates NIL by AT LEAST three decades.

CF Bobby Lowder and that cesspool in Auburn-Opelika.

And market value is all nice and well until he steps foot I. College station and they are above market
That's the name of the game as of today unfortunately. There very well is a market, like it or not.

That said, it's still against rules to offer recruits incentives. So if the school puts together an NIL package for DM, that means we're breaking the rules. And I'm not so sure I hate it.

I must challenge your reliability/credibility in declaring what or what is not
the market
above the market
below the makret.

That is very tricky stuff and billions have been lost by people who thought they "knew the market" but didn't..
Further, there is an ancient Confucian saying which is loosely translated as

"Just because something pisses me off doesn't proportionately increase my understanding of a market"

Dante and Carnell doing the OV tours together. Next up LSU. Neither is going there but they'll gain thousands of followers.
If I might pull out my soapbox for a second....what galls me is the same people now admonishing Irish fans not to panic etc are the exact same people who created the narratives that caused people to start putting the recruiting horse before the cart. "Over/under on April verbals". "blank talks to blank everyday". Then when it didn't materialize: "you all need to calm down".

Not great Bob!

The visual of them both not at NDs spring game isn’t ideal, though neither were expected to be I’d rather hear there have a track meet or something that weekend haha

Could you imagine if Moore suddenly looks to comitt elsewhere and Freeman and Co come out with some multi million dollar NIL package to bring him to ND??

I'd wet myself.
Going to be interesting to read the articles down the road about some of these NIL busts. Paying 17, 18 year olds millions because they have a certain number of stars next to their name.

Could you imagine if we gave Dayne Crist a $2M NIL deal?

Excuse me bro, but no one comes to IE for this kind of negativity... the hell were you thinking??

Lol, before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm in no way implying that Moore will be one of those busts.

But paying kids this kind of money is asinine. I agree with NDAccountant that CFB is heading down a really bad path, IMO. It's one thing to pay kids for their "Name, Image, and Likeness" with profit sharing or sponsorships, but it's a whole other ball game for boosters and their shell companies to present a blank check to these kids, with no cap on how much a program can spend.

The Bamas and UGAs of the world are going to get more and more powerful.

Some coaching staffs, or individuals on those staffs, are reportedly receiving bonuses for signing "5*'s". Which opens up a whole nother front on why rankings seem to vary and change months between games.

I wonder if Kelly is gonna Dance on them, which is now seemingly becoming a very creepy MO of BKs?

So let me get this straight we told a high 4* likely future pro QB no thanks because we wanted to put all our eggs in the basket of a high 5 star who plans on taking all his visits.

Uncommitted prospect takes visits that he said all along he was going to take.

Better LSU than TAMU.

Also, 1 down, 3 to go (assuming ND gets 1).

Not worried about LSU so that's good, my guess is LSU, ND, MIAMI, OSU, and Texas A&M or Michigan for the last one.
gets 1

You are also probably someone who was excited for Freeman's "recruiting".

This is big boy recruiting now, not Kelly "settling on the other aisle" era.

But aren’t there silent CB’s for him to go to ND???

Lol, I do hope TR and MF are regularly checking in on Avery Johnson. Gut feeling is that we won’t be reeling in a QB currently committed elsewhere if Moore doesn’t commit to ND.

LSU just signed a five-star. Dante probably isn’t going there to sit behind him. And we all know Kelly’s track record with QBs. Yeah, better LSU than A&M or Oregon.

I will continue to give Rees and Freeman the benefit of the doubt that they knew exactly what they were doing when they essentially blackballed themselves from CV's recruitment in favor of the "Moore or Bust" plan.

But it is getting more difficult to not join in the worried hysteria.

In the end, we may still land Moore. At which point, I’ll give an incredible amount of credit to the staff. However, between now and then, for that to happen, we have to hope that Moore turns down stupid amounts of NIL dollars. LSU up first.

Anyone else afraid of BK's negative recruiting?

He may not land Dante, but if something he says sticks it could screw things up for ND.
