Pyne is about to make himself a Notre Dane legend one way or the other,… let’s hope it’s of the ‘let’s make a film of this kid who totally saved Notre Dame football way back in 2022’ variety and not,… ‘remember that time Notre Dame went 0-12 because,….’
Coach Rees had written Drew off as a career bench warmer. But when the starting QB goes down, it's Tommy's turn to Ride the Pyne. Coming to a theater near you in 2023.

Definitely needs an intro of Pyne standing on a biplane mid flight

This. Is. ND. Football.

Angeli lead to 8+ wins this year, a Carr transfer at the end of next year, and two blowout playoff losses.

Starting Rupaul as Drew Pyne

I hate when I hear how complicated our offense is and that a FR QB hasn't picked it up yet. I can understand that he doesn't know 100% of the playbook but he should be around 75% or am I off my rocker? How is any other FR QB in the country able to go to a university and start?

Those other schools' QBs have time to learn the playbook and don't play school.

Kinda kidding.

i cant speak to tommy or any previous ND offensive instsall, just what I went through in college.

Most of fall camp was for "install" where they put in the base offense. Formations, nomenclature, maybe 20 standard plays (10 runs 10 passes).

then back half/quarter of fall camp moves to your more standard game week style (1s/2s break off) continue install and you start finding what plays fit your roster/have high success rate.

A freshman qb who isnt a 1/2 at that point is now off running scout.

So i dont think its some sort of the offense is so complicated they havent picked it up, its that they had like 3 weeks of running it to date and not in the last 3 weeks.

Bigger question: "what even is our offense?" I couldn't tell you. Seems like a grab bag of bullshit.
Tommy is trying to run an NFL style spread offense IMO. Trouble is that his OL stinks, his receivers stink, and his QB didn't have the skill set to run that. And the rest of the room is a huge question mark.

I get what you are saying but on the other side of that its not a FR first year playing football. A lot of the changes is verbiage and reads. Hard for me to grasp how we can not get players ready to play once on campus.

he's trying to look smart in front of McVay IMO and turning into a Matt Nagy type

You know, I kinda agree. He's trying to live up to the young genius hype I think. Overthinking what his offense should be. And Buchner was the one punished for it. Hopefully he gets his head out of his ass for Pyne.

Another frustration with Rees. Is it too much to ask that our OC runs an offense that says "hey lets see if you can stop this?" like GA ST or that can make an in game adjustment?

Tyler wasn’t punished for Tommy’s offense. Tyler can’t consistently make the throws that is needed at this level. He was way overhyped here, and he’s now missed half of his last 6 years of football. He isn’t accurate, and he doesn’t work through progressions well. That is where Tommy has made the mistake. He’s done a tremendously poor job of recruiting QBs.

Buchner wasn't punished. Tommy was punished for picking Tyler over JJ and others. How many TDs have we left on the field because Tyler overthrew, underthrew, threw to late, etc. I'm not saying anything to defend Tommy on this one, he picked his QB and he had to live with him in the offense but FFS, we haven't completed a single deep shot for a TD.

One thing we can basically guarantee as that this OL will get Pyne killed or at least make him minimally effective. He can barely see over the line to begin with so when he's getting 1 second in the pocket and gets eaten by a 6-6 290 LB DL, he's going to feel it for weeks or make a plethora of mistakes. Angeli better be ready. As should whoever that tall kid is.

Lets be real, he's going to get eaten up by Navy's 6'1 260 lb defensive tackles too.

Well this is his first year. Once he's had a couple of seasons here, he will have the players needed to run his offense 😉

I dunno. Buchner's the one who had season-ending shoulder surgery today and whose once promising career is now very much in doubt. Tommy gets paid either way.
