I don’t know what Washington would have “coached” for a veteran like Jayson A to suddenly not be good. It’s not like Washington is coaching him to just get pancaked 1-1. Jayson A has talked the talk and not backed it up, period.

I don’t know who is responsible for the vanilla DL calls Golden or Washington but that needs to change.

Cross we’ve always known is disruptive but undersized at NT so I’m not shocked to see the pros and cons of that choice over Lacey.

A huge part of coaching is the mental aspect or mental preparedness. Getting your players mentally prepared to compete.

But, to the specific point about technique/performance, they literally talked all spring and fall camp about how much different the coaching has been and folks were getting amped up. Well, this is what you get. Veteran guys who have played a lot of football playing worse football than they've played before.

I hope Pyne leads us to some Ws and gives Angeli time to ramp up into the playbook and spell him for some drives. That would be the smartest decision. Start testing the waters because this season is a colossal drop from the previous 6.

I also agree with those people suggesting getting Jr and Kollie more snaps.

That’s all possible and fair I’m sure on some levels but at some point players play the game. Everything being on coaches instantly is too convenient. Jayson A said he/we was a bad mother****** and that got pancaked on a goal line run by Marshall.

To me sounds like Al Washington came in and told foskey and Jayson everything we as fans were telling outsiders. Telling them how badass they are and to play with that dominant mindset. But something went wrong with their development or preparation, which is so disappointing considering how long they've been in the program and what they mean to this team. And the results are abysmal. Not sure where the blame lies most.

I’m sure a talking head has/will do a breakdown but while I want more of Foskey, he is getting double teamed almost every play when I’ve bothered to focus in. That is one I will go back to the coaches on, because they should be scheming him open/taking advantage of that.

Kid is going to have every opportunity to compete to play. Practice well during the week and earn a spot kid.

You are right and wrong. Yes it is on the players but if they are bitched at for doing the older way instead of the Washington way then no.

But you are right he said that and against Marshall was blah. He wasn't terrible against OSU.

Get dialed in mentally young man, because if Pyne's brief play Saturday is any indication, you're seeing the field sooner rather than later.

On the contrary, I fully expect Pyne to play as one SHOULD against a shit team like Cal, thus giving the program and all its fans false hope leading into an inevitable bending-over at the hands of UNC and then BYU the following week...

Am I recalling correctly that Pyne came in last year and looked alright in limited action?
He came in and looked admittedly really impressive against Wisconsin.

He came in the next week and looked meh against Cincinnati (still better than Coan, but not amazing).

Since then, all our viewings of Pyne, albeit brief, have been some of the most flat out abysmal displays of QB that I can care to remember.

Yeah he was good in relief last year. But now there is film on him and it would appear he is prone to throw the ball to the other team with very little urging.

Realistically, how much of the playbook could Angeli be able to run by Sat? Hasn’t his only role been running the scout team w/ the highlight being he was CJ Stroud leading up to the OSU game?

If he sees the field Saturday, ND is in big trouble.

At least he EE’d. Presumably learned some of it in spring ball.
Honestly I’m not even sure what our “playbook” is at this point. Midrange throws to Mayer. Slants to Styles. Swing pass and screens to Tyree. Ram Estime into the line. That’s about all we can manage right now now matter who’s at QB.

Pyne is about to make himself a Notre Dane legend one way or the other,… let’s hope it’s of the ‘let’s make a film of this kid who totally saved Notre Dame football way back in 2022’ variety and not,… ‘remember that time Notre Dame went 0-12 because,….’

Did yall listen to the press conference? Sounded like Angeli is nowhere near ready to be in the conversation outside of injury. May be coach speak but that was not my takeaway at all.
