If you guys had the cash and the greenlight, and you thought it as a now-or-never year to make a run at a natty, would you drop $1.3M to put Judkins in the backfield for a year?

I don’t think I would… unless it was very clear that a stud RB was the missing piece for a sure-fire, natty-caliber offense. I liken it to the Rams dumping a bunch of first-round picks and (kind of) mortgaging their future on proven veterans in order to maximize their Super Bowl window.

I think there’s too much guesswork on a college roster to try that. But it’s a fun thought experiment.

Also I think it’s pretty clear that the RB room won’t be anywhere close to the reason next year’s team doesn’t win. That position is loaded for the next few years

Nah I think I’d give the $1.3 to Keon Keeleys mother and get him signed on for $1.3 over the next 2 or 3 years.

It's a more fun experiment to imagine a top level WR, OT, S or DE.

If Tetairoa McMillan or Luther Burden were in the portal, 100% I would.

If Laiatu Latu (DE - UCLA) entered the portal, I think it'd be foolish to not put big money on him.

Also, as someone else said: No salary cap so if you have a chance to grab a monster difference maker for your team when you believe there are tons of pieces in place already, you have to roll those dice.

If the feckin skunkbears can cheat their way to the title game, this should be totally in bounds.

The only non-QB I would have dropped $1.3MM on this cycle would have been the Edge from Purdue Nic Scourton. Imagine a 13 sack guy on this defense?!

Still a valueless position. The optimal way to handle a RB is to run them into the ground and let em walk before they get to a second contract (and in Judkins' case start asking for QB money). There is no value in keeping a RB around long term.

Loy (wearing his national analyst hat) posted on the OSU board that he was set to go to Bama than OSU upped the ante.

Sounds most likely outcome here is OSU, outside shot at FSU, long shot of returning to Ole Miss.

I'd be furious as an OSU fan to spend this type of money on a RB in the portal, assuming their acquisition money isn't unlimited.

This gives OSU best 1-2 RB room in the country with Henderson . Judkins may be a “locker room problem”, but he is a tremendous back , love how hard he runs

Reminds me of Matt Millen drafting a WR in the first round 4 times. Having good RBs is great, but RB isn't what stopped OSU from beating Michigan.

Dude from Purdue who picked on a bunch of Big Ten midgets is the one with the situation. He got half his sacks in November against Minnesota, Michigan in a blowout and IU. Zero against Wisconsin and Iowa. Hmmm.

Hats off to him for cashing in.
