Got a message elsewhere that sites received their commitment info to prep for the announcement.

Solid pick up.

In fact, here I am taking the call.

The Irish have plenty of RB’s. The need is created because the Irish took too many rb’s like Diggs the past 3 season, Tyree being the exception. IMO I would pass this season and go after 2 high level recruits next cycle.

That carries it's own risks which the staff apparently isn't willing to gamble on. I'd like to take at least 1 RB a year to hedge against busts and transfers, so if our options are Diggs or no one for 2021, I'll happily take him. Tyree isn't a bell cow, and needs to be complemented by someone who can grind out tough yardage. Diggs could easily be that guy.

This tweet has sparked a convo on the II boards and then Lax thinks he's the next to commit. Evans is fully expected to commit this week, so that would mean Diggs would have to commit this week as well.

Also, some people don't seem to be too impressed with his film and would rather pass on him. That is insane to me. He plays that way that we hoped Jafar would. Catches the ball out of the backfield, runs like he's 220 pounds, and has the patience/jump cut ability of Lev Bell. I would be perfectly content if he's our running back this class.

I don't know if I want us to pass but I tend to agree that it really wasn't anything special. Doesn't have the burst you'd want from a smaller back. The jump cuts are nice but the lack of explosive, 30+ yard plays, in the tape was a big red flag to me. If I'm 247, 87 feels like an accurate rating. I'd like to think that ND could do better considering the O-Line success but maybe not.

Besides Armstrong and Tyree, there isn't a running back on the roster like Diggs. We seem to have a lot of running backs that belong in a pro style offense.

I apologize, but did you just compare Diggs to Tyree? If you did in what way do you see them comparable?

I think Theo Riddick is a good comp. Theo was productive on a very good team. And part of that was he was complimented well by Cierre Wood.

Is this the thunder to Tyree's lightening?

I still think people are sleeping on Kyren....

I like Logan too though.

Give the current state of affairs of RB recruiting for this class, I am happy to have Diggs.

But I hope that people recognize how we got to this spot and avoid the exact same thing for 2022. If this happens two years in a row, there are zero excuses.

I can see how my comments could be interpreted as Logan is ‘THE’ compliment to Tyree but I’m with you. I think Kyren could very well be as well.

I was on record saying I like others more due to top end speed which I still do. But, he would be a very nice compliment to Tyree. I still think it’s important they add that speed. So if we take Diggs, I’d really like to see them get after some more speed even if they are smaller APB’s. Looking at JP Martin as an example.

I agree with this 100%.

In my opinion RB is such an important position that I would be prepared to have "too many" RBs on the team in order to find a couple of good ones. I'd happily take Logan and then also keep trying for this guy from Michigan and take 2.

The only thing I see comparable between Diggs and Tyree is their receiving abilities out of the backfield. I think Logan's best comparison is Leveon Bell. Will Diggs be an All-Pro like Bell was in Pittsburgh? Probably not, but he has a similar running style.

Diggs would be a good compliment to Tyree.

It's how IE rolls!

Some bitch just to bitch. There are some dialed in people on here and those are the ones I appreciate their insight. The others, just want to feed that post count.

I'll take this kid all day.

I think he could be a Theo or Tony Jones Jr quite easily. I know everybody wants the speeds but nowadays there is always a place in college football for physical running backs that have good vision and can catch. See also, LSU football 2019.

Riddick is by far the most successful NFL back ND has produced in well over a decade. Not every RB with pass catching ability is that level, and I don't think it's fair or accurate to expect Diggs to reach that level. He was a special, versatile talent.

When I watched the film the first RB. I thought of was Mark Ingram. Yes I may be a bit biased but Diggs looked just like him running. Mark was a 4.5 to 4.6 fourty back but he made the cut, hit the hole low and hard, took his 5-10 yard gain and repeated. Put this guy behind a very solid Irish OL and I think you get similar results.
