This bodes well for Notre Dame. Notre Dame may not get a top 4 slot and sure one less game wouldn’t hurt but I’d rather be 5 than 4 at this point. My only worry two more games basically puts them at almost an NFL schedule. Hope they don’t weather down in game 3 and 4.
Someone broke this down on ISD, but with the revenue difference between NBC and Big 10, ND would have to win the title each year to break even. Big 10 has collected $28M so far for playoffs, and splitting it goes both ways. Even if you miss the playoffs you're getting millions. It's a bit more make or break for ND.
If ND wins a title I guarantee none of that will matter. Their value instantly increases with a title and negotiating another contract with NBC or whoever will see those returns.
They should give the money to NBC and say do a real product. ESPN's coverage and broadcasting of the 1st round made NBC's look like study hall.
Does that account for the $17 million they get from the ACC for a partial payout?
They can leave it where it is. It doesn’t need its own dedicated day. Just start the playoffs that day anyway.
They can do that on Friday or Monday. Why does that even need a show, as a matter fact?
