I don't watch the Bears as much but maybe some fans can chime in; how in the world is Trubisky an NFL QB right now? He has no idea how to go through his progressions. There was an obscene amount of times he had a RB/WR open in the flat and ended up just taking a sack or forcing to a receiver he'd be staring down the moment the ball was snapped.

He had a bad game but he went 24-12 with a plus 95 rating last year... hardly a guy who shouldn't be playing.

Biscuit sucks, lucky to only have one INT. Bears D is a lot of fun to watch.

Still trying to figure out if it was Nagy's terrible game plan or if the Packers defensive overhaul really worked. The secondary looks legit, still not sold on the pass rush with the two Smiths and co. I agree with the post that Mitch struggled to find open check downs and resulted in majority of the Packers' sacks.

Matt LaFleur equally unimpressive in his first game. Terrible game plan, and a real head scratcher when he tried to challenge for offensive PI. Especially considering losing it moved the Pack to only 1 TO remaining in a 4 pt game in the 4th quarter.

Jury still out on the Pack, especially offensively. I think this one was more Bears losing than Pack winning for sure, if that makes sense.

Both, really. That secondary is damn sticky. Damn the Pack for getting Jaire and Kevin King

That game last night as the first NFL game since that horrible Super Bowl really isn't a good look.

Both offenses looked bad.

Why didn't they do the usual thing and have the defending Superbowl champs open the season?

Goodell hesitant to go back to Foxboro?

No, with the 100th season they opted for the the rivalry and flexed the champs to SNF.

Epic fail given last night's result. Obviously I'm happy the Pack won, but I'm not dilusional to the fact that anyone who isn't a fan of the Bears, Packers, or punters was actually enjoying that.

He has some issues. Maybe CTE related, maybe not, but they're there. It goes a bit beyond the selfish WR bit we've seen over the years.

If that's the case you think he'd actually want the new helmet.

In all seriousness, he really seems bat *hit crazy. His offseason has been an absolute circus.

NFL will want to consider building teams around Khalil Mack instead of Antonio Brown. Raiders have figured this out the hard way now. Too late.

That Bear defense is sickly good. The two kids from Georgia looked very impressive. 58 is a player. 96 abused one of the best NFL OT in the league for a good part of the night.

They may need to score a TD or two a game, but they're very very good. Easy to understate it.

Defense and QB... and both off and def lines are by far the most important to a football team.

RB used to be the position everyone wanted to play but its becoming a bad business decision.

There have been far more teams win titles with elite defenses and average to below QBs than have won with elite QBs and average or below defenses. This goes across generations, defense is what wins titles,... not QBs, not WRs... if the Raiders forgot the obvious then screw em.

Nagy really screwed up the preseason IMO.

Trubisky isnt Tom Brady. He needed reps, and didnt get them.

Year 3 is historically the make or break year for a quarterbacks career. Not a good omen right now.

The Packers defense was like 25th out of the 32 teams last year. It is more than concerning they couldnt move the ball against them.

I don't think Trubisky played as poorly as some on here.

Nagy REALLY screwed that offense over. His playcalling and personnel choices were abysmal.

The first half was the Eagles game all over again. Nothing but dink and dunk with very little supplementary running.

I just don't get how you have a stellar talent in Montgomery and he touches the ball ONE TIME the entire second half.

It was a total failure by the head coach in terms of preparation and putting his offense in position to succeed.

Really man? They spent HUGE money in free agency, signing Za'darius Smith from Baltimore, Preston Smith from Washington, and ya boy Amos, and focused heavily on D in the draft with Gary and Darnell Savage, who made a ton of plays last night.

Not to mention a healthy Kevin King at CB made a big difference last night. He was hurt all of last year.

Hardly the same defense. Not calling them the '84 Bears, but I'm not going to sit back and act like they weren't going to improve dramatically (it showed...they did), either.

Moral: They deserve some credit for what was going on offensively for the Bears.

Moral: They deserve some credit for what was going on offensively for the Bears.

95% of what happened offensively for the Bears was on the Bears and no one else.

- They looked absolutely unprepared in all facets.
- Several key drops by the receivers.
- Trubisky sailed a couple passes.
- The OL was totally out of sync, and I imagine the switch between Whitehair and Daniels had a lot to do with it. Also, Long looked awful. Don't know what becomes of him. End of the road nearing.
- They didn't spread things out at all.
- They ran it TWELVE TIMES all game!
- Some maddeningly awful personnel decisions by Nagy, including minimizing Montgomery's and Cohen's touches. It's ridiculous when Montgomery touches the ball once the entire 2nd half and Patterson gets more touches than Cohen. It defies any sort of logic.

I don't give the Packers much credit, because regardless of who the Bears play, that kind of preparation, or lack thereof, will yield a similar result. You have an out of sync line, a struggling QB, frequent bad penalties, dropped passes and a total abandonment of the run, you get this kind of pathetic result.

The Raiders couldn't have resigned Mack even if they had wanted to. Not even in relation to the cap, they literally didn't have enough cash on hand to pay his signing bonus. They would have never moved him if they actually had a choice.

Is that really true though? Just looking since 2000 the vast majority of super bowl winners had hall of fame QBs.

Brady x6
Manning x2
Manning x2
Roethlisberger x2
Brees
Rodgers
Wilson

vs the non hall of famers

Trent Dilfer
Brad Johnson
Joe Flacco
Nick Foles

All but ONE (Colts) off memory had legit defenses... so,... Yes it’s true.

You have every Giants SB, Every Redskins SB, the Fins SBs, The Bears, The Raiders SBs,... and others to add to my list. A legit defense is more important than a legit QB. I think you can find maybe a few SB teams with below average defenses all time,... you already listed more below avg SB QBs than that just in this century.

4/19 years a defense carried a no name QB. I think I could list at least 4/19 defenses that were bottom half of the league.

You’re misstating my point but whatever. On the timeframe... I was pretty clear before you chimed in dude,... and if you want to live in a fantasy where one guy is that important to football game have at it. You’re used to being wrong so why change now?

Sure,... there is less than a hand full all time,... far more the other way. I’m positive a number of the ‘elite’ QBs you’re gonna cite aren’t even and just ride elite defenses....

QB is SO over rated as a position, I’m not even sure it’s a top five position in sports, most of y’all act like it’s more important than the POTUS

The Chiefs offense should improve this year. Mahomes is in his second year starting. All the skill position players are back and almost all the big uglies. Mitch Morse, C, who is a great talent but often injured, was a free agent and signed with the Bills becoming the league's highest paid center. But he averaged playing only nine games for KC over the last two years and has already been put on concussion protocol by the Bills. His replacement, center Austin Reiter, started four games last year and played in eleven. The RG, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who had started thirty-eight games there from 2015-17 and the first four games in 2018 before a season-ending injury, is fully healthy and back. Tyreek Hill just signed a three year $54 million extension with the Chiefs. Sammie Watkins is fully healthy. Andy Reid can also throw Mecole Hardman, their first pick of the 2019 draft (#56), who runs a 4.31 forty, into the mix as a punt or kickoff returner as well as a WR.

KC just needs to overcome the truism that defense wins championships. The injury report for their first game's opponent, Jacksonville, is that their starting LT, Cam Robinson, is out while their second string LT, Cedric Ogbuehi, has been previously ruled out. Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said second-year lineman Will Richardson would start at left tackle. Richardson, who had been a guard in the NFL, played right tackle at NC State, but has never played an NFL snap in his career. He will match up against Frank Clark.

I'm going to say both Mahomes and their total O regresses a bit. They are not surprising anyone this year, and they play some good Ds.
