I only have strong feelings about AB, I actually don't care about the Patriots either way. You're happy how that played out? You think that's a good dynamic in the NFL?

There needs to be a rule that prevents players from basically forcing their way out of a team. They should be banned the first half of the season or something that makes it financially untenable.
Counterpoint: The Raiders are the cancer. AB didn't choose to sign with them, he was traded there.

He's also out something like $20 million. You're acting like he got his way with no consequence. That's a pretty huge consequence.

Was that all in a single season? If not, he didn't lose much and gained the option of playing on a competitive team. How are the Raiders the cancer? They traded for him. They wanted to build around him and he refused to show up for anything. How can the Raiders be vilified in this? He threatened the GM and kept bailing on the team.

I don't see how this can be viewed any other way, even by Patriots fans.

No I don't like it. And I also don't like franchise QBs bailing on their team 2 weeks before the season starts at 29 because they don't want to rehab a calf strain.
And when I voiced my displeasure at that, you posted the exact response that I did to you.

Just jabbing you back a bit :) But yes, it's a punk move and I wish they had just suspended him indefinitely instead of letting him get released like Blount did just to join the Patriots

This will be his last year in the NFL. Patriots gave him $9 mill in a signing bonus of guaranteed $10 mill. Stupid except for the minimal impact on the cap number.

I remember my response. To be fair: I believe there is a distinct difference in those two situations. If Andrew Luck quit the Colts, and refused any money and then went and signed with a different team, I'd be irate. And dropping expletives.

I don't blame Luck for making a life decisions in terms of quitting football. He didn't need the additional money.

If Brown quit football, I wouldn't be upset at all. But he was the kid in the corner who screams and kicks the ball when he gets picked by the green team. "I want to play on the blue team! They're the best"

I have no choice but to hope terrible things for AB all season and hopefully a shortened season.

Jets have four punts on four drives.
Bills have four turnovers on six drives.
Dolphins on pace to lose by 60.

I think the Patriots might have a shot in the AFC East this season.

Adam cost the Colts the game today. It's probably time. Brissett and Mack were fine.

Cowboys looked great. Dak probably gets his deal this week. I have to say, he looked accurate and decisive. Moore and Kitna doing work.

These are the only two teams that really matter in the NFL ;)

I'm always surprised that people often have more than a casual interest in the NFL. Phone constantly getting blown up.

Those Giants DBs looked bad did Love get on the field at all? I didn't see him and he isn't on the stats sheet.

Colts shot themselves in the foot and lose on the road in OT. AV misses an xtra point and two FG's. Throw in a blocked punt for good measure. Make any of those kicks and the Colts win on the road. Brissett looked pretty good behind that O-line. He's not Luck, but if he keeps playing like that, the Colts won't be as bad as many think. Hooker's interception was insane.

I see the Steelers humiliated themselves again. Mike Tomlin is trash. I'm just gonna assume this was his fault.

I've never felt so hopeful or encouraged after a Bengals loss. It's usually just frustration and anger.

Andy Dalton looked nice in Zac Taylor's offense. Zac Taylor's offense looked nice. We'll see if it holds up once there's more film out there. And we'll see if they can sustain good passing success if the run game doesn't improve.

Still, impressed with Taylor's gameplan to throw the ball all over the yard against a good pass rush and with a patchwork OL. Excited to see how they do when the OL gets healthy and when AJ Green gets back.

Also, and this can't be overstated, they looked so much more composed and organized than they ever did under Marvin Lewis.

They're one soft-as-hell personal foul call or a missed field goal from giving Seattle their first home loss in September under Pete Carroll. Pretty good start despite being a loss!

He will hit rock bottom, get traded to the Bengals, get a worse attitude and sit out half the 2019 and then half the 2020 season before being traded to the Patriots for a 7th round pick.

And then Belicheat turns him into the league leading WR who also leads his local church choir. All for a 7 round pick...

I'm just waiting on the church choir confirmation....

In the Antonio Brown fiasco, Oakland lost their third and fifth round selections but lost no money, voiding his contract guarantees, with fines negating his bonuses and releasing him before the season. They could not find any trade partners before the release.

The Patriots reportedly tried to trade for Brown in March but the Steelers would not trade him to them. Now the Patriots reportedly have added an option year worth $20 million onto Antonio Brown's contract for the 2020 season, which becomes guaranteed if the option is executed.

The Steelers got Oakland's third and fifth round selections but have had to eat $21.1 million in dead money from their contract with Brown against their 2019 cap. In trading Brown, who made it clear he was not returning to the Steelers and manipulated a trade, the Steelers willingly turned 11 percent of its salary cap into dead money. Their current cap space is $3.9 million after the dead money hit from Brown's contract.

Patrick Mahomes needs only one quarter against the Raiders to flip the entire regression argument on its head

After throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns last season, Mahomes probably won't be able to do it again. To this point in NFL history, only two quarterbacks have ever thrown for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a single season: Peyton Manning in 2013 and Mahomes in 2018. Doing it once is a near-impossible task. Doing it twice is literally unheard of.

It goes beyond his raw numbers. While throwing for those 50 touchdowns, Mahomes averaged a touchdown pass on every 8.6% of his pass attempts. One doesn't need to scour through history books to discover that a touchdown rate like that isn't supposed to be sustainable. To name just one recent example, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson threw a touchdown on 9.3% of his passes in 2017. In 2018, he threw a touchdown on 5.1% of his passes. The point being, it's almost impossible to consistently throw touchdowns at as high of a clip as Mahomes did a season ago.

A year ago, Mahomes averaged 8.8 yards per attempt. Since the 1970 merger, only two quarterbacks have averaged 8.8 or more yards per attempt in multiple seasons (minimum eight starts per season). The point being, 8.8 yards per attempt seasons should be treated as hurricanes, not thunderstorms, and multiple 8.8 yards per attempt seasons should be considered rogue waves.

After his performance against the Raiders, Mahomes has now thrown for 821 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions, which puts him on pace for 6,568 yards, 56 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He's averaging 10.7 yards per attempt and a touchdown on 9.1% of his passes after averaging 8.8 yards per attempt and a touchdown on 8.6% of his passes last year.
