So assuming Clemson wins.. let's say they win by 28.

UGA to me, proved that they are one of the best 4 teams in the country tonight. If you're going with the best 4 teams, it should be Bama/Clemson/ND/UGA.

If you say UGA isn't one of the 4 best, then you're saying you believe OK would beat UGA. If you're saying, no, they lost two, and OK deserves it more because they only have one loss and beat the teams that were on their schedule....

If you do say that, then your four should be Bama/Clemson/ND, and UCF, who has zero losses and beat the teams on their schedule. UCF would have beat Pitt by more than the hypothetical 28 point win by Clemson.

Potential is...what potential does! Games matter. Losing games should matter. I'm sick of the beauty contest/eye test bull-shit. If Georgia was so damn good then they shouldn't have lost TWO games. Why play the damn games if it only matters what you look like coming off the bus. Georgia should be out...they don't deserve to be in.

Yet another reason why the "best" is a stupid characteristic to base the selection on. UGA just had a chance to play Alabama for a spot in the playoffs, they lost. Bama shouldn't have to play them again.

I'm with you. The conference championships are essentially defacto playoff games. If you lose one, you should be out. And that includes Alabama.

HAppy for some redemption for Hurts. As good Sam Tuanwas in the game last year Hurts was even better.
Chime job for G and Frohm. That slide into a two yard short result was a bitch move.
Prior to the dorks missed GF they had third and 3 and Frohm misses a wide open receiver for a first down. On both these plays I said to myself “There goes the game”. Don’t even get me started on the mentally challenged fake punt. What a joke.
We got to see that Bama is human tonight and Tua is a huge over rated QB, he has been able to play scrimmage ball all year, the Bama playcalling kept G in the game. It stunk up the joint.

I’m liking my chances now and I bet Clemson is looking past Pitt Andy us to get back to Bama, tonight with Hurts being the man and being rewarded for his loyalty Bryant should take a page from his book.

Yes, the announcers were washing Sagan’s balls all night.

I cant agree with this. If you get your second loss in your conference championship and there are multiple power 5 teams that both 1) won their conference and 2) have less losses, you dont get in...ever. I dont care how you qualitatively decide who the best 4 teams are, it doesn't matter in this scenario. Comparing UFC to OU and OSU is apples to oranges, the SOS gap is too hard to overcome.

It’s crazy how truly untalented Northwestern is. Every single player on their offense sucks. On top of that, their game plan is absurd. Run the ball! Did no one see the Maryland game? It’s like the Pat Fitzgerald game plan was to have their defense keep it close and hit a couple miracle throws... umm, the way you challenge Ohio State is by scoring, you are not going to contain that offense.

On top of that, 3rd and 20 you cannot give them single coverage on the outside. Amateur hour.

Kirk Herbstreit can suck my dick. Just said that Georgia should be No. 3 after tonight and ND should drop to number 4. This sport is a fucking joke.

OMG! Did anyone just hear Herbstriet's spewing absolute clown shit? He says georgia moves up...YES UP! After a loss. Top four of 1 bama, 2 Clemson, 3 georgia, 4 ND. College football has officially become a beauty contest for these ass clown talking heads. This is seriously the dumbest thing I have heard so far in regards to CFP rankings, and there have been many stupid things said.

On the halftime show of the Big Ten game, Wannedstadt just said we should be out because we didn't play a conference championship game. He's even dumber than he looks.

Tommy Tubberville has a radio show down here and made a similar comment this week. I came very close to calling in and asking him if Alabama should have been in the playoff last year.

A conference title means something but so does losing a game when the team you are up against for seeding purposes didn't lose any.

I'm in favor of a new process for selecting the top 4 teams for the CFP...stay with me:

1) dont play any regular season games, because who really cares anyway
2) average the recruiting classes over the last 3 years and rank em 1-10. Note that this should include about 6 SEC teams.
3) adjust that ranking based off reputation of coaching staff. If you have any connection to Saban and/or you are under 40, and/or you have a southern draw you get bonus points.
4) adjust the resulting rankings based off the collective opinions of a panel of ESPN personalities, because they're the real experts.

It seems like a pretty fair process, honestly.

Side note: Clemson is lowkey dirty AF. Hitting people away from the ball after the whistle constantly.

Anyone who believes UGA should be in also must believe that there is no actual need to play games. Just pick the 4 prettiest teams and let em have at it.

And this Herbstreit and Wannstest bullshit is some of the most irresponsible commentary I've heard in a long while. Kirk clearly has lost his marbles. Not sure Dave ever had any. "Out of site, out of mind." Huh? See Bama 2016. Also, we don't schedule FCS teams. Why are these people allowed on TV?

Exactly, not only did Bama not play in a conference final last year but they had a final that they could have played in but werent good enough to make it...and they had one loss.

Kirby Smart seems to think it could be even easier than that. He thinks Nick Saban should pick the teams by way of the 3 teams he would least like to play in the play offs.

Yep. You could convince me that a team like Georgia is one of the best teams, the thing is....they lost games. Plural. Games. They had their shot to make the playoffs. Had they been 12-0 going into tonight and lost, you could have convinced me very easily that they belong in the playoff. But...they lost by 20 in Baton Rouge.
