Fox just said Oklahoma should jump ND.

Big surprise that a former USC QB and a former Pitt coach were out there saying ND should move down.Fox just said Oklahoma should jump ND.

Yeah, this is going to be a bumpy next three days. I'm actually not convinced anymore that ND is going to get in. Every other conference has people in that room that will lobby for their team, ND does not. Big Ten got screwed last year, too, so they'll be looking for their pound of flesh.
I never realized how fucked this system was until this year when I actually had to follow a team through it. It is way worse than just using the polls, because the wisdom of the crowd cuts through the nonsense and angle shooting.
There is no legitimate argument for Oklahoma being ahead of ND. They have struggled with almost everyone they have played over the latter half of the season. Their defense is rated outside of the top 50. They do not pass the eye test, at all. They have no top 10 wins. They have no large-margin wins (3+ scores) over any ranked teams. They have worse game control metrics than ND.
Well Im definitely not here yet, but moving to #4 is my concern, and IMO, as big a slap in the face as being left out.

Just in case anyone wants to see how the average fan feels about the team, check out this fun thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/a28shu/cfp_discussion_thread/
1) Bama vs 8) UW
2) Clemson vs 7) UCF
3) ND vs 6) Georgia
4) Oklahoma vs 5) OSU

Honestly, when I went and sorted by "top" comments I thought people were surprisingly fair to ND and almost everyone had it: Bama-Clemson-ND-Oklahoma
There were a handful of people lower down there that were absolutely obsessed with ND. Big Ten fans absolutely HATE that ND isn't in a conference, and in general Big 12 fans seem to live in an insane bubble where they don't realize that people laugh at their no-defense conference.
Only way I see ND getting left out would be if they decide to put Oklahoma and Ohio State in because some new voices in the room try to emphasize "conference championships" above everything else. It could happen, but it would seriously break precedent.
He and Finebaum should just get a room and wait for Saban to come knocking.
I can hear all of the below and then some...
OSU/Big10 vs ND conversation - ND only beat NW by 10. We beat them by 21. ND only beat scUM by 7, we boat raced them. We got F'd last year, you owe us.
UCF/AAC vs ND conversation - ND beat Pitt by 5. We beat them by 31. We beat the team that beat #1 and #2 less than a year ago.
Clemson/ACC vs ND conversation - Our margin of victory over common opponents is 145 vs ND's 96.
OK/Big12 vs ND Conversaton - Our only loss was our biggest yearly rivalry. We avenged our only loss, so have we really lost a game? And it was a 13th data point.
Bama/UGA/SEC vs ND - Bama boat raced them in 2012, and we/UGA beat them @ND last year before our QB took his training wheels off. Do you really want to see another boat race? Vegas has us as the clear top 2 teams in the Nation, and our only losses are to Bama, and in the arguably toughest road environment in all of football.
tomorrow though...
I think it’s clear it’s bama, Clemson, Nd, Oklahoma in that order, and I completely expect that will be what happens. I’d be shocked otherwise.
That said, I HATE the “best four teams” narrative. Frankly, it’s bullshit. It’s an unknowable concept. It’s formed completely by biased, flawed opinion of what “best” is. Honestly, why play out a regular season slate, if it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose? Because that’s what you are saying if you favor a 2 loss team over a one or no loss team because you think they are “better” or their conference is “better”. The CFP has painted itself into this vile corner by using that terminology, and they now have no way out. It’s time to go to 8, and the three wildcards need to be determined by some kind of meaningful criteria, with HIGHEST emphasis on wins and head to head results. Anything less is a farce. Rant over.
Pretty much everyone hates ND, other than us ND fans. We have to have thick skin.
A Sparty fan earlier today told me that he thinks the team will fold in the playoffs because they haven't played anybody. I asked him who Clemson played. Crickets
