A month ago, we'd have clubbed a baby seal to get a 4 star CB to visit campus. One's headed to campus right now (90% sure) and no one even knows about it. We're getting soft and fat from success.

That's a baby back tease. I revoke my vote for you for member of the year. You are better than this!

The exact kind of success we had last year at this position.

Question: How does ND do with kids from military families?

They tend to have their heads on straight and therefore appreciate what ND has to offer. If ND recruits them, they tend to be very interested, but that's a big if.

So the class could end up looking like this:

QB- Jurkovec (1)
RB- Steppe (1)
OL- Mabry, Hayes, Dirksen (3)
WR- Jones, Lenzy, Brown/Hightower (3-4)

DL- The twins, Vann, Mustipher (4)
LB- Ovie, Bauer, Gant (3)
DB- Gervin, Allen, Griffith, ? (4)

That would put us at 18-19. Numbers tighter this year because of number of 5th year players expected back. This year we only have three. Next year it will likely be 8-9.

Tre'Shaun Harrison. Didn't see a thread or mention of him but he tweeted out that ND offered last night. INSANE tape. From Washington.

He moves so well, both speed and quickness.

I ultimately think we will be able to take up to around 22-23 but probably come up a little short of that when all is said and done. I think there will be more leavers than people are really factoring into the equation right now.

New O and D coordinator this year, whoever doesn't fit into John Harbaugh's schemes for 2018, medical schollies, kids looking for playing time, and Tillery leaving to join the cloth after leading the team to the playoffs. I could see 22-23.

The "at risk" DL are, guys like Tiassum, Taylor, Mokwuah, J. Hayes, and J Bonner.

Personal opinion is I can't see us not asking back Hayes, Taylor, and Bonner, as I think they are, at the very least, competent depth. It seems like a lock that Mokwuah and Tiassum aren't asked back, if they don't make a move this fall.

Nic Weishar is probably another one of the borderline guys.

That's a great start. Did you forget MDT or do you think he's safe?

Yep, forgot him. MDT is definitely on the list. And let me just say, I'm not writing any of these guys off yet, but there is a real possibility that these guys could be gone.

With that many defensive lineman on the bubble, I'm sure glad we offered John Waggoner early.

5th years expected back next year:

Bonner, Hayes, Tranquill, Newsome, Bars, Mustipher, Weishar, Watkins, Canteen. Guys who could possibly leave early for draft if they have great seasons: Adams, Alize, EQ. So we really won't know the numbers until January. Still think 20 is the likely max. But who knows.

Depending on how much we actually use 2 TE's and also his progression/improvement; I view Weishar and Alize as one spot. Alize leaves early, Weishar is asked back. If Alize stays, Weishar isn't. As always, this is still TBD, but I don't see how you carry 5 TE's, especially if 3 of them are Alize, Wright, and Kmet.

Assuming Weishar doesn't progress much past where he was last season, he's probably the 4th best TE. I'm not asking him back under that scenario. Which stinks because he's a great kid, it sounds like. Hopefully he really finds his stride and this conversation never happened.
