I hope u guys are right on Alize. Until he actually does something and stays eligible, the only way he leaves early is via transfer imho. Scouts would like to see 2 years of stability if they are going to pull his card on day 1

Who says he can only leave early if he's a 1st rd. draft pick? I don't know if I've ever heard that before. Lots of players leave early that get 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rd. grades.

A lot of guys who have one year of college production get drafted 1st or 2nd round. Mitch Trubisky is a clear example this year.

Yeah. Those guys have tremendous production not just hype and bad grades. I hope he tears it up and goes rd 1! However yr one he was fragile. Yr 2 he dq 'd. Saying he's going to be a one and done to the NFL is insane speculation to me. Like i said ...I hope u r right

Update the commitment list on the home page of IE (not this thread, I'm trusting Crusader to keep up with that). Just figured I'd post that here so if anyone notices any discrepancies, they can let me know.

Lenzy says he's recruiting Thomas Booker for ND. Don't know anything about him other than he's a 6-4, 260 ATH with a 4.0 GPA.

He's actually the reason I don't think we've offered Waggoner or O'Rourke yet. Have no info on that but he's of a similar build, will probably grow into a SDE, and seem to be higher on the board. Again, this is just my opinion but it seems fairly obvious.

Now watch, both will get offered later today.

Luckylucci;1866546 Assuming Weishar doesn't progress much past where he was last season said:
Any chance Weishar turns around and becomes a DE? Don't know what he played on D in high school, or how well. But he's got some size and quickness. Would be a way to keep him for another year.

After 4-8, the goal isn't to find ways to keep players around. Its to get them ready to compete at a high level or find players that can. I am by no means for processing players, but if after 4 years they aren't making an impact and we have young guys with a lot of potential behind them, time to move on.

? Lenzy is from Oregon and Booker's from Baltimore. Are they friends from camping somewhere or something?

ND has *19* WR offers including the 2 commits! That's almost 20% of the offers to one position.

- I think it sends a GREAT message to PJ that ND is serious about getting him weapons
- Wondering if they are trying to apply some "pressure" on the higher-rated WRs i.e. ARSB, Hightower, Babb, Moore to either commit or show their intent so the staff can focus on the right guys
- Maybe just a really deep class for WRs and ND can now be somewhat selective with the last 2 or 3 spots (especially with the versatility of Lenzy)

Thoughts?

Great points/questions. I know I'm thoroughly confused myself. Obviously ASB is a take no matter how many WR's we have committed but for majority of that list that probably isn't true. There are guys like Hightower I really like, but I've liked the film or pretty much everyone we offered. I become conflicted when a kid like Bush (who I really like) could potentially commit and steal a spot from Hightower etc. I don't know what to think, but that's why I'm on my couch and the ND staff is behind their desks. It's nice to have options, there are very few positions that I feel like we may struggle to fill up on with plan A guys. Remarkable off a 4-8 season, a good season and we'll be fine a great season and well...

Per an interview with a recruit on ISD. It's in the weekly Intel portion so I'm not really sure what to link....

Mods feel free to clean up if necessary and my apologies

Cool, thanks. Been talking with a buddy who has a grip on current roster workings back home in Michiana and he says there will be a lot housekeeping this year. 5 WR's screams roster realignment. The IE joke is take 30 per class and they'll still be under 85 but something had to give next year or it was gonna be a small class... and it's a BAD year for a small class.

I think the class ends up around 23

5th years expected back next year:

Bonner, Hayes, Tranquill, Newsome, Bars, Mustipher, Weishar, Watkins, Canteen. Guys who could possibly leave early for draft if they have great seasons: Adams, Alize, EQ. So we really won't know the numbers until January. Still think 20 is the likely max. But who knows.

Let me preface this by saying that some of this opinion is based on continued success recruiting the 18' class. As well as, solid progression from some of the young players, which both I think are reasonable.

So, to go back to your previous post. I could easily see some of these guys not asked back.

- I could see 1 of Hayes/Bonner not asked back.
- As of today, I think only 1 of Weishar/Alize comes back.
- I highly doubt Canteen is a two year player regardless of performance.
- If Watkins doesn't win a starting job, and you can add a player like Griffith to this already good DB class, then he might not get asked back.
- At this point, I'd expect EQ to be in the conversation, and I'll be surprised, if after this season, he isn't considering leaving.

There are a lot of scenarios that could affect this. But with how recruiting is shaping up, and the current production of some of these players, I wouldn't find it surprising at all. With all that said, I do think some of these players could have breakout years and be wanted men, but that's TBD.

With regards to Canteen this was discussed on a recent podcast. He has two years eligibility remaining. Highly likely wherever he was going he was going to have assurance that he would get two years. Otherwise he has to look for yet another school for his final year. As of now with eleven recruits we are at 86 scholarship players for next season (2018). This includes 5th years already mentioned. So a class of 19 for example would put us at 94. Nine guys would have to leave whether early draftees, transfers or expected 5th year returnees not coming back. This year the numbers truly are going to be tight.

Just as the sun rises in the East, there is always room on the roster in the end.

I can almost guarantee you the staff did not promise Canteen two years. It's unlikely teams were beating down his door. He can play a year and if he blows the doors off then he may earn a 2nd year but he'll have to be damn good to take a roster spot from a 4 year player, especially with our current recruiting heat.
