I’m not sure I could be more excited to see Jafar at RB this fall. He looks great physically. Admittedly I’m really getting ahead of myself here, but he “looks” like a legit NFL RB. I hope he gets A LOT of work with Dexter out.

Also, it’s been mentioned before but hadn’t witnessed it myself but C’bo moves much better than I previously thought. Quick with good foot speed. When he gets some weight on him, he could be a good one. With how high I am on Jafar, Davis being in the mix, and some nice promise from C’bo, I really like the future of RB.

I probably wouldn’t add another to this class unless he’s an elite prospect or has elite speed.

I’ve been a big advocate of another RB in this class, but if Jafar is as good advertised and C’bo can be a player, I’d tend to agree. Might explain why the staff hasn’t gone after more RBs lately.

Matt Freeman from ISD has a source who said Wimbush had a "superb" practice today.

I hope it's true.

But it's ironic that all of the media-access practices have Wimbush between "Up and down" or "pretty bad".

And he kills it when the media isn't around for transparency.

Are you suggesting we do 2 QB formations and whoever gets the snap depends on the routes being ran!?

No. After last season, he really has a lot to prove. He could go 20/23 against Michigan for 250 and 3 TD's and I'd still have questions.
So. In recap.

When he throws an in completion it's, "I told you so."

When he throws a completion it's, "let's wait and see."

O.K.

Nah...it's more like, he's given us very few reasons to be remotely confident in his ability to be a high end starting QB. I want the guy to succeed as much as anyone but after last season... Miami, Stanford, LSU... takes more than a game or two to make people believe again.

He completed like 50% of his passes last year... that doesn't inspire confidence in people for a guy who was a junior in college playing behind an O-Line with a first round tackle and one of the best guard prospects of all time.

How do good olinemen correlate to his ability to throw accurately?

This argument is a catch-22. Even an inaccurate passer benefits from a pocket that is usually clean, and his completion percentage probably would have been closer to 45% had he not had a tremendous OL in front of him.

On the flip side, it might just be that he's destined to be a 50% passer no matter what's happening around him, because he's got the yips.

There's no way to know for sure.

Very few reasons to be confident in starting QB?

Dude had one of the highest first down conversion rates in the Kelly Era... Broke the school record for TD runs, most yards in Kelly era, etc.

He also maintained a great interception per attempt ratio (this is critically overlooked). I'll sacrifice some completion percentage if our qb can move the sticks with his legs and not turn it over... I'll take that 100 times over a Golson turnover machine.

In summary, Brandon had many, many electric moments last year. Literally the only thing (and it is a big one) is consistently. If he improves there, watch out.

So, in summary, to say that Brandon showed no signs of having what it takes to be "the guy" you are doing a huge disservice to him and yourself. Open your eyes.

Talks about the overreaction to Wimbush's erratic throws in warmups the other day. Dexter Williams rumors. Newcomers to look out for this year. Michigan game thoughts.

I'm with you but I wouldn't mind seeing Tony Jones Jr. take over the Michigan game and churn out 5+ yards a carry on 25+ touches. Jafar can get his feet wet against Ball State once ND is up a couple TDs and then do some work against Vandy and Wake.

To be clear, I don't care who busts Michigan up but I think Jones Jr. getting in a rhythm and carrying the load with Wimbush busting a couple long runs is a better option than platooning the backs.

Interesting comments about Dex. Said one of the rumors going around is that Dex may be in a position where he could play day 1 if he meets certain criteria.

Dex by all accounts isn't getting any live reps, or very few if at all.

So even if (which I don't believe), he won't be "ready" to play 1st team reps or even 2nd team since it appears they're all going to Jones, Armstrong, and Davis.

A healthy Dex would be such a huge factor against Michigan, it'd make me feel much better have 2 legit backs with him and Jones, and Dexter being undoubtedly the most talented runner on the field that night.

I don't think I've heard any chatter about Jones in camp this year. Is he doing well but everyone is skeptical based on his 2017 or is he not doing that well and people have moved on to Armstrong and Davis?

I haven’t been following every single day but how many times have you been hearing about Sam Mustipher, Jerry Tillery, Jonathan Bonner, Te’Von Coney, or Drue Tranquill? I don’t think Tony Jones Jr. is doing anything poorly and from all accounts I think he’s doing pretty well, but the media highlights the QB position, freshman, and new players to certain positions. So basically Wimbush, Book, Jafar Armstrong, Avery Davis, Liam Eichenberg, and Troy Pride. Unfortunately there are 85 guys to check out so the media clearly focuses in on a couple of guys and it’s hard to get a great read on every single player.

folks on II think Jones looked better in Spring 2017 than he does now. They also said he's lost weight possibly 10-12 lb's or so but his 40 time is still pretty pedestrian.

The one thing I hope is that Brandon doesn't read anything online about football. He doesn't need to hear how we feel about his game. He just needs to lace them up and play fast.

The questions about BW are NOT about his potential or his athleticism.

The more qualified questions are about his regression is 2017, where he went from Outstanding to Benched by the end of the season.

I really wish BW faced Ball St first and Michigan 2nd. Let him get his confidence back and then face the fire. Not jump into an inferno, Play 1
