Andrew Luck says "Hi".

What's your point here?? Luck is a once in a generation QB, super beast,... yet even HE (an extreme case, as no one had anything but A+ grades on him) isn't making the Colts some elite team because well.... look at the team around him.

How in the holy fuck all have we gotten to a world where multiple teams chase QBs with 2nd round grades like this??? It's the ultimate team game where no player is on the field half the freakin time and yet we've all tricked ourselves into believing this bs about the pretty-boy QB savior. Much more often than not: show me a QB on a good team, and I'll show you some guy who isn't as good as everyone thinks who gets all the credit, and inversely show me a stud QB on a bad team and I'll show you some guy who is considered a bust.

Missed your qualifier bolded but Luck is not considered a bust and takes no blame for their team sucking balls. Romo is a great example supporting your statement.

I agree that teams chase QBs stupidly in the draft. Has to be much higher odds of picking a Pro-Bowler in pretty much any other position in the first round and any team with a top 10 pick likely has so many holes that a franchise QB shouldn't be at the top of their priority list given those odds.

i think there was def. some blame put on luck after this last season. Maybe not very much, but people were starting to see he has areas of improvement that haven't occurred in the last two seasons. How much of that is because he was spending more time rehabbing a shoulder he should have already had surgery on instead of practicing, who can say.

I sorta disagree with this. Don't get me wrong, he is a terrific player with loads of potential. But he hasn't lifted that team on his shoulders the way his predecessor did and he has had his share of both injuries and on the field mistakes. He is far from perfect and I certainly don't consider him to be one of the best, as many have crowned him. I'm not sure he's even a top 10 QB in the league right now. Which put him in the "average" category. He's going into his 6th season at this point, so when do we call a spade a spade?

Hey Browns... That's a nice draft you got there. It would be a shame if...

Luck is a top-5 QB when he's healthy... which is never, because his offensive line is hot trash, and has been hot trash since he was drafted.

It's amazing that the Colts have squandered so much of his time by not building an OL in front of him. You're going to create holes elsewhere on your roster by making that push, of course, but a *healthy* QB that has a good OL in front of him will mask those holes with his play. Luck hasn't been given that chance.

If this is the case. The Bears #3 pick just got very valuable.

Yeah, we can disagree here. I don't think he's close to a top 5 QB. Who exactly is he better than here?

- Brady
- Rodgers
- Brees
- Matty Ice
- Big Ben

I don't see him as being better than any of those guys. Nor do I see him as better than Cam Newton, Dak Prescott, Matt Stafford or Russell Wilson. I think its a toss up with some guys after that. Which puts him in the middle third of the league, which is average.

In terms of production, he finished above everybody but Brees, Rodgers and Ryan this past year. In 2014, he was the top QB in the league when accounting for passing/rushing yards/TD's. And that's with hot garbage around him.

He's better than Roethlisberger from that list IMO, and definitely better than Prescott, Stafford and Wilson on an INDIVIDUAL basis. I think a lot of those guys you would put ahead of him are simply on better teams.

For real? I think Dak is greatly protected by an elite o-line and a great running game. From a passing game standpoint, I can think of a lot of guys I'd take before Dak. One of those would be Luck.

I think if Luck was on the Cowboys they would be odds on favorite for the Super Bowl

Yeah, we can simply disagree. He may throw up a lot of stats, but he isn't better than any of those guys. It's borderline shocking to hear someone say they think he's better than Big Ben as well. Who has multiple rings and has 13 seasons with a QB rating over 90, compared to Luck's two. Has won multiple Super Bowls, always balls out in the playoffs and is a first day Hall of Famer.

Meanwhile... Luck is 3-3 in the playoffs with a completion percentage of 57%, a 9/12 TD/INT ratio and a QB rating of 70.8.

I'm not discounting Roethlisberger, just saying that I think Luck would be better if he had the same franchise around him that Ben does. Luck is the more physically gifted QB, and has done more with less.

But it's kind of apples and oranges, as I see that we are ranking QB's on different merits.

Big Ben is a G. Doesn't get enough love. Mike Tomlin has gotten in his way many times unfortunately

Yeah, he wouldn't make it past Cincy.

They generally draft "best available" in the first round, and they haven't ever had a chance at an elite safety as "best available." They'd jump on that in a hot second.

That's also why I think they could pull a surprise and take Budda Baker early in the second, even though most Cincy peeps think they're going RB or WR.

I'd assume we would have to trade up to get him. I'd gladly give 12 and 52 to get to #5 to take Adams.

Jamal Adams? You're gonna need to get closer than 5 to get him. I don't think he gets past Chicago.

I'd be disappointed if the Titans took less than 12 and 33.

According to the draft value chart 12+33 is a little too much for 5 and 12+52 is not quite enough. I guess it would depend how badly the Titans wanted to move down.

good article on drafting a RB in first round:
