Here's a name to watch for in the class of '17. Nick Johnson of Portage, IN. He's a 6-5, 330lb guard.

Hearing from Ivy League & Northwestern so the books are probably there. I think Nebraska, Wisconsin, Purdue and Indiana too.

Here's the story I was forwarded.

The Times 2015 Preseason All-Area football team: Portage's Nick Johnson : Preps

That's a big dude! How many OL do you think we are going after in 2017 with 2 already on board? I would be ok with him and maybe one more, but that might be a little bit too greedy. Heistand has kind of made me that way though lol.

He would definitely be on Koons bod squad

Obviously talking about the car bodies he is standing between. I see you working the puns!

Kid is clearly enormous, I just have a hard time getting excited for any more OL in 2017 right now because I want something flashier to come our way. Give me a DE for heavens sake!!

Also, they expect Sanford down to visit him sometime this week.

Really curious to see which QB's we go after this week and who we visit. Staff doesn't really throw QB offers out so they will be picky and I'm curious to see who they target.

I'm hoping its Dylan McCaffrey that gets an offer

Me as well, I'd think we'd want to get started here soon enough as QB's have been deciding sooner and sooner.

I haven't really watched any QB highlights on the 2017 kids. I have watched McCaffery and Mills both have great arms but I like McCaffery wiggle a little more. Any chance you could lay down who the staff might go after?

At this point I have no idea. The last list of guys I saw was probably 8 names and Avery Davis wasn't one of them. So, it sounds like the list is still expanding or being tweaked/changed.

Maybe get another Ian Book type of QB in 2017 and go after Phil Jurkovec right away for the 2018 class?

I can't really blame any 2017 QB not wanting to go to ND with Malik, Deshone, and Brandon all having at least 2 years of eligibility left

Sounds like UM is getting a nice head start here.

Between this and his brother going to Stanford, I don't like the chances of him landing in South Bend.

Michigan? Come on now. Both parents went to Stanford, one brother is at Stanford, the other at Duke. Uncle went to Duke, then transferred to Vandy. Grandfather was a world record holder and Olympic track star at Duke. Aunt went to Georgetown. All athletes. You think he wants to be the public school heel for the next 60 years in that family???

Easy pitch for Coach Sanford: "Dylan, more people will see you play at your first ND home game than saw your Dad or your brothers at home...in any given season."

'17 is Malik's Grad year. Kizer and Wimbush are both done by '18 unless Wimbush gets redshirted. If not, one would have high chance of going somewhere else under the current 5th year grad transfer rules. I'll bet a Gazzilion bucks one of the 3 leaves by that way at least.

In regards to '18 QB's... Here's the guy:

Dorian Thompson-Robinson - Yahoo! Sports

Although I'm pulling for this kid just so I can buy his jersey...with name.

Colson Yankoff - Yahoo! Sports

He's visited UM twice now and it doesn't sound like Stanford will be going after him. They've already sent out a few 17' QB offers and he wasn't one of them.

I know. I read something that said Dad has basically come to grips that his son won't be at Stanford. In regards to the Michigan comment: I'm kinda kidding I think... but you know they put their cigars out on Billy's forehead for leaving Duke and bringing that pedestrian Vandy diploma into the unit. I love the opening and the fit his family's educational history would provide ND and before anyone reminds me that Michigan is a great school (which it is) it also has programs and admissions that allowed Mitch McGary to enter and stay eligible. In every Public Ivy, there's a Wayne St. or NC A&T screaming to get out.

"Coach Booker was by last week," said Blount. "I've received about eight pieces of mail each week from Notre Dame."

2017 four-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial defensive tackle Greg Rogers, uncommitted:

Washington is one of 11 offers for Rogers: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Nevada, San Diego State, UCLA, UNLV, Utah and Washington State are the other ten. However, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC are showing significant interest and an offer from the Fighting Irish could be a big swing for his recruitment.

"I like Notre Dame a lot," Rogers said. "The coaches are great and they have a wonderful tradition."

UW, not to be outdone, will get an unofficial visit from him in the spring of 2017, but no date has been set.

"The offer from Washington was really big," he said. "I'll be up there in the spring to visit. They have great coaches - I love the coaches. I love the defense they play and they are definitely one of my favorite schools. [Tight ends] coach [Jordan] Paopao is the one that first started recruiting me so I have a strong connection with him. But I love all their coaches."

USC and UCLA will also get unofficial visits from Rogers this fall. Arizona State already got one a couple weeks back. Don't count out the Huskies but if Notre Dame offers it will be hard to top the Irish.

It will be nice to get back to DT recruiting in the 17' class, lol. Some solid early interest from some good DT's for next cycle as well.
