My uncle, who just happens to be on his death bed currently, is a long time fire fighter in Tehachapi... Honestly that wouldn't surprise me... It always seemed like an odd kind of pocket....

Man that sucks. I probably know him and or his kids/ your cousins assuming they grew up there. Anyhow, grew up there and I know pretty much everyone in that town. Saying it's odd is an understatement.

Straight talk, I hate to ever see Shaun King linked. That race hustler is a huge part of the problem in this country. He intentionally distorts facts for clicks.

I think a fair criticism of Dems and a reasonable explanation of why they lost yesterday is that they ignored concerns- both real and illusory- of rural whites. You can hate Shaun King, but he reflects the concerns- both real and illusory- of urban blacks.

My point in linking was not to say OMG GUYS RACE WAR'S ON, but rather to illustrate that many people feel scared and rejected by what happened and that they're starting to gather anecdotal evidence that supports that.

My problem isn't that he is a mouthpiece to a real problem. My problem is that he intentionally lies to make his points and be sensational. I can give examples if you want.

So I don't have any objection to you doing what I bolded. None at all. I just fucking hate that what you chose had to be Shaun King. He is seriously the worst kind of human being.

SIAP, quote from Bernie:
Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media. People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids - all while the very rich become much richer.
To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him. To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.

100% correct.

I don't buy any of the shit you hear, and half of what I hear.

America has become a place where people who don't get the job, make excuses. Someone is racisist or intolerant of their religion.

They can't find a job because of discrimination.

So they're out rioting because of this. People who have jobs can't take vacation to make a "movement."

Truth is, instead of people picking up the slack and getting better, they're evolving to make excuses for this. And instead of beating it, going out and finding work, they stay in the "urban" environment and vote for a democratic president that promises to change that.

Problem is, the last 8 years was with a democrat more liberal stanced president that promised that change. During for which, BLM and other movements began.

Now, this nation is prejudice following 8 years with an African American man in office.

So the rural people, who have jobs and no causes other than labor, out vote the urban democrats.

Wake up America. Go find opportunity and stop making excuses.

I was just having a discussion with a professor a couple weeks back about Texas and succession movements, her stance was overwhelmingly against such things and how Texas and states like that need to grow up and face reality.... Today some of her students came to me complaining that she openly advocated leaving the union in class.... I'm just....

Is she always a hypocrite, or was it just today?

It's hilarious to me how full circle this board has come. From the conservatives bitching and the posters from Texas saying that secession was a real option and all the Dems making fun of them, to the literal exact opposite happening today. What a strange world we live in.

Kinda makes you think...maybe we're not so different after all?

I got called a Trump ass cracker on Sunday night. I'm shaken to my core.

Do you need a safe space?

All these millennials say they're so scared about this election outcome, they need counseling and safe spaces. I'm going to need counseling when these kids are running the country in my old age. Better hope Russia doesn't rise up under their watch, that could be some scary shit.

Dunno about all of them, but Miley Cyrus, in tears, says she accepts Trump. This was after she said she was totally leaving if he was elected. She also still thinks Hillary deserves to be the first female President. Barf.

I refuse to taint the Funny Pic thread with anything but mildly amusing, non-political crap...so political pics have to go here. I'll post for both sides to be fair. I'm sure a lot of these have circled social media quite a bit already.

I must be surrounded by too many minorities all the time or something... I don't believe I have heard someone (adults only here, kids say the darnedest things at recess) drop a major racial slur at any kind of minority in a hatful way in a really, really long time.... Last I can remember is a trip to Arkansas in 2000 where n bombs were being dropped like nothing....

But here in California? Dude, like maybe not since I was the kid at recess.... I'm going to have to think hard on that....
Same. My grandmother once complained that a Mexican guy at a Wendy's should "talk American," but other than that...

Yea, you can largely credit this win to a terrible campaign by Hillary. It was not just email leaks like people suggest; Hillary ignored states, issues, and lacked any sort of charisma to energize a larger voter base.

Agree, HRC was more like, "I'm experienced in government and he's not. Do you really want someone with no experience running the country?" America's answer, Yes please".

SIAP, but 538's podcast yesterday was great, imo. It touched on a wide range of topics that they feel are reasons Trump won. A lot of which are talked about constantly in this thread, but still good to hear broken down in a 40 minute podcast.

-Establishment Democrats ignoring heartland, union-working, democratic voters for years. Finally there was push back.

-Anti-PC/Social pushback. They explained this in a simplified 'coastal/big city liberals moving the moral center left and forcing these small towns to do the same or else feel the wrath of PC/SJW.' Small town Dems don't HAVE to accept the same social values that big city Dems do. But if they didn't, they were "racist/bigotted/etc" and so they pushed back.

-Voter turnout was low. 1) Enthusiasm for Trump. Lack of enthusiasm for HRC. 2) Voter suppression cannot be ignored. Not fraud. But suppression. To say it's THE REASON Hillary lost would be wrong, but to say that it doesn't exist is also wrong. In the end, Hillary underperformed every metric set by Obama and that's why she lost. Trump dominated the smaller counties and Hillary underperformed the big city counties. Ball game, folks.

-Back to the Dem Establishment and forcing a flawed candidate through

-Lastly (although I'm sure I'm forgetting some other points), unlike the mainstream media who is forcing the race card into this as an extreme generalization, 538 simply pointed out that the white vote does factor in and some of those voters are perhaps racist and Trump gave them an avenue to freely express it. But it's not the be-all-end-all to this. They said we shouldn't normalize the Trump campaign (he did say/do some things that I believe anyone with a moral bone in their body would condone), but it's not THE REASON why he won. And the mainstream media needs to quit w/ that narrative (my words, not theirs).

On the other foot, I just recently got out of 7 years of higher education, 3 of those were with some very opinionated law students. The only place I've ever seen a true SJW is on the internet. I was more frequently harassed by crazy preachers with loudspeakers telling me I was going to hell for going to a football game than SJWs telling me I was a bigot. Based on you, ND, and ACamp's experiences of having to apparently dodge PC police on a daily basis apparently I've been extremely lucky.

Safe spaces? LULZ. My God. Half of millennials are as soft as the Notre Dame football team. I am embarrassed to be apart of that generation. However, I will use the excuse that college kids today are on the brink of Generation Z so I will classify them as so.

I hope Miley Cyrus does go to Canada along with all of the other celebrities that said they would. On your way through please pick up Bieber and Drake and take them back with you.

I had the complete opposite law school experience. I'd say 60% of my facebook friends from law school are very vocal SJWs that link to Shaun King and other sources like that on a daily basis.

Okay, so this is going to come out of nowhere, but I've been thinking about how Hillary is supposed to be this "women's champion", but there is nothing about her that makes her appear to be a strong woman. Her, along with her assistant Huma, both have husbands who have been PUBLICLY found to have been cheating on them, and yet they continue to stay with them. For everyone, this makes it obvious that the marriage is only for political gain and hardly real. In the average American's viewpoint, she is not a strong woman. She is hardly a role model for young girls. She is a sellout and a sham.

She might have won more female votes if she had divorced her husband.

They're afraid because no one is going to hold their hand and give them handouts. No more participation trophies. You want something? Work to get it.

Listening to Clay Travis on Fox Sports radio this morning. A student at LSU called in. Said the 30 something history professor came into class yesterday and started to talk about the election and bust out in tears in front of about 60 students. Dead silence for about five minutes before he could compose himself. Not sure I could face that class again if I did that.

I can agree with all those points.

Do I think that 59 million people in this country are racist? Of course not.

(IMO) For the vast majority of Trump voters this election had nothing to do with race, and he would have won even more handily without all the rhetoric and attacks.

But for non-Trump supporters, it's hard for them to separate a vote for Trump from an approval of bigotry.

Even though, ironically, many (most) Clinton voters were voting for her by default.

Fair warning to all that if you attempt to quote this post with the video still in the post, it may cause scripting issues.

But not only do they beat up an old man for his political opinion, but it looks like they're trying or threatening to steal his car too. And why is no one stopping and stepping in?
