Hillary is more concerned with winning votes than the platform. I think she has to move to the center to take the rust belt swing states and that's what I expect her to do on issues like the environment, immigration, and safety both domestic and foreign.

I don't think either party has really paid more than lip service to their platform (except the parts that any candidate truly likes) for quite some time now. That is more to appease the party faithful without truly doing anything.

Serious question, not trying to sound like a dickhead:

Has anyone ever felt their vote truly mattered in an election? I've never voted, but also have only lived in Illinois, Arizona, and Indiana, where your vote TRULY doesn't matter.

Only in an election that was decided by one vote would it really matter.

I live in Indiana. Presidential election-wise, no. However, because so many people only vote for the big offices and skip the rest and the resolutions, your vote can very much matter on that local scale.

The problem is that there is no viable 3rd party option at this point. Like it or not, it's going to be Trump or Hillary. A vote for anyone else may be a nice protest vote, but will simply help Chewbacca or Darth.
"At this point." Gary Johnson just polled at 9% in a national survey. 15% gets you on the debate stage.

I think 15% gets you on stage, but I could be mistaken.

He has to be at 15% in 3 different polls. What polls you ask? Who knows?? Probably whatever 3 polls have him under 15% come debate time. Neither party wants him in those debates.

You’ll Never Guess What Quality Obama Thinks Hillary Has – twitchy.com

During a CBS interview that aired on Sunday, President Obama revealed the one major quality that he believes any president needs to possess.

According to Obama, a president must be, get this, HONEST.

Seriously Obama?

My vote goes to Clinton but I can't bring myself to actually push my ballot for either Pres Candidate, at least not currently and while I'm willing, I don't see that changing. I will vote, just leave that portion of the ballot blank.

I voted for other candidate because I'll be writing someone in, so technically I'll be voting. If I'm voting for my wife or one of my friends, does that mean I'm abstaining/not voting? I wasn't sure which to pick.

Off to a great start, eh?

Are they constitutionally eligible to serve?

If you write in a candidate then you should pick Other Candidate.

The DNC is off to a ripping start. DWS getting booed off stage, Bernie getting booed by his own supporters, chants of "lock her up." And this whole time we were told Republicans were the divided party.

Voted "Other Candidate," but between Trump/Clinton I would go Trump.

I'm probably going to do a write in for Lou.

I'm not a Hillary fan, but I will be voting for her in November. Trump is completely out of his mind. His speeches are full of bullshit. He doesn't talk about anything meaningful. And where are his tax returns?

It's doctored, but I laughed. Posting here because the Funny Pics thread is no place for politics.

If that were real I'd actually consider voting for Trump over it... lol

Big cheers for adopting party platform. This convention may be a shitshow -- most gatherings of Democrats are -- but not yet a clusterfuck.

While you can easily say Trump is nuts and his speeches are BS(I don't think he is but I can see that thought process), what the heck do you think HiLiar is full of?

...as it stands there's no reason not to 3rd party protest vote, which is why I'll be doing just that and won't have to live with the shame of supporting either of these candidates.

Agreed.

I've done that a number of times in my many years of voting.

Hell, I've "written in" myself in local uncontested elections when I detested the incumbent.

I felt good about being among the 1%.
