dang it, Malik going with #9 this year?
bought my 3 boys #8 jerseys before the texas game last year...

now you have to buy 3 #9's and ND's sales plan works like a charm.

The family is going to be big-time Avery Sebastian fans this year.

I've been there, too. Number 5 seemed like such a sure bet with Manti and Golson... then a few months later one was in the most bizarre scandal of all time and the other was kicked out of school.

And the other #5 apparently couldn't beat out Joe Schmidt. :banghead2

Jaylon Smith throwback.

5 and 9 are the surest bets in terms of buying jerseys.

You're going to have, at most, two years between stars wearing the 5 or the 9.

7 is a decent shot, too.

Even if you're on #TeamMalik, you're playing with fire when you buy an 8.

I think that 3 is another good number for a ND jersey.

Isn't CJ Sanders wearing it this year?

I think so. But Floyd's immediate successor was Carlisle. I respect Amir, but he wasn't a worthy successor to Floyd, Montana, Mirer et al. I think that Sanders is electric, but I'm not sure if we should expect much from him this year because of that hip flexor injury. I guess I'll have to wait until Texas to see if I'm wrong.

He's working with the 1's thus far, so it appears that he's good to go. Set aside your worries (and your hope for a redshirt haha).

Cole Luke is a stud...that is all

He really is. And with the solid depth at the other CB and nickel spots, we should be in really great shape at the back end. Not to mention our safeties. I really like the combo of Redfield and Tranquil. Tranquil as the big hitter and Redfield as the experienced playmaker breaking up passes etc. love our backfield this year.

Redfield has little experience as a playmaker or at breaking up passes. Many thought he'd be moved to strong safety because he seems willing to make a big hit but gave up a lot of big plays from his FS spot during his time at ND -- resulting in being benched several times during his career. I'm anxious to see what Studstill can do back there, too. I hope Redfield puts it all together this year, but I'm comforted to know that we have some potential at FS behind Redfield.

Hopefully Max has learned to stay home...he's been caught biting on the play-action and trick plays. Love Tranquil...hope his wheels are 100%.

For Notre Dame, the jersey you want is clearly . . . # 75!

Edit :

Okay, you want proof?

#75

Yup. A lineman’s number, number 75, is the most common jersey number for Notre Dame All-Americans. That number has been worn by seven different players: Aaron Taylor, Tim Grunhard, Larry Williams, Greg Marx, Myron Pottios, Bob Toneff, and John Mastrangelo.

Jersey numbers with six All-Americans are: 9, 32, and 85.

Jersey numbers with five All-Americans are: 7, 23, 44, 60, 76, and 81. 7 just made the list after wide receiver Will Fuller’s All-American accolade this past year.

Numbers that have NEVER seen an All-American at Notre Dame are: 11, 13, 15, 17, 26, 29, 35, 45, 53, 62, 68, 87, 91, 92, 93, 95, 98, 99.

What’s interesting, is that if you asked Notre Dame fans what the most sacred number was, I would wager that most would say #3. The number 3 has only had 2 All-Americans in Rick Mirer and Ralph Guglielmi.

Tim O'Malley, Scout, did his Monday Musings. Some highlights:

- If he had never seen ND before the first practice, the most impressive offensive players were: Nelson, McGlinchey, Hunter Jr., Weishar and Wimbush.

- Most impressive group was the DBs. Liked Coleman, White and Vaughn (after Crawford and Luke)

- Thinks Irish fans will really like Nyles Morgan this year.

- Redfield was always confident, but O'Malley actually believes the words coming from Max this year.

- Liked Luatua slimmed down and making plays. Could add another variable now.

- Thinks slot WR has some nice options with Sanders, Stepherson and Finke

- An unnamed backup DL was upset with post play contact. Player got up and started to go after the OL, putting his shoulder into the OL. Player realized it was Nelson, paused, slapped him on the helmet and congratulated Nelson.

Isd podcast is raving about Nyles morgan. Said on one play he ran stride for stride with tori hunter. Said he's every bit the athlete Jayson Smith is.

This is a guy who couldn't get a snap over Joe schmidt. Good thing we never had to witness Nyles and Jaylon on the field at the same time..

Thank God Nyles stayed mentally committed to the program. Let's not think about what-if because it serves no purpose. Let's think about what can be, Nyles Morgan can help save BVGs career.

Let's hope that happens because we all need to see more from the Irish defense.

And Coach Kelly deserves a little blame too, if we're spreading it around.

Notre Dame Football 2016: Complete Preview of the Fighting Irish | Bleacher Report

Wonder if our new contract with them has anything to do with their opinions lol??? (Hope not)

(Sorry, not sure how to embed the video)

Thank God Almighty they didn't sign a deal with the curse makers at SI...

I don't even know where to start with that video when it comes to discussing points. I ran out of ink while taking notes at #100.

That video needs its own thread, maybe it's own forum.
