Watching on ESPN 3. Can't believe we are ahead at the moment. Now tied....

I don't remember the last time I've seen this bad officiating. Ferrell is getting manhandled with no calls.

Real bad officiating at the end of the first half.

1.) Farrell got hammered, no call.
2.) Vasturia's shot was an obvious goaltend. How is that not even mentioned by the announcers. I mean, good lord.

Should be down 2-4, not 6.

And that is what infuriates me. It's not if officials are bad here and there, it's when they just can't make up their mind how the game should be officiated. You can't let guards play physical the entire game, and then call that for an and-1 on Farrell.

Just be consistent.

Isaac is a match up disaster for ND... He went for 17 and 12 against a big NC front court.. I feel like this game will look a lot like Purdue.. Where we can't stop him and we lose a close one

It sucks to not be able to pull out this game, but we have to play better than this if we hope to have a shot at the ACC crown.. Teams with legit post threats will continue to put up big numbers on us, esp in their house

He blew this game by not calling one of the THREE timeouts we had left while FSU was on a roll and the crowd was going nuts.
Lol he blew the game? Florida State made plays down the stretch and ND didn't make all of them they had been. Missed FTs, missed layups and bad live ball turnovers in the last 5 minutes. And they still were right there at the end. I know it's easier to blame coaches, though.

This team doesn't quit. Love that about them. Game felt like it could get out of hand a couple times but ND fought.

I mean it woulda been a gift, but why didn't we dribble it out and go for a 3 to end it there....

I didn't think the Irish would stand a chance, especially with FSU's length. For them to only lose by 3 is pretty impressive considering the uncharacteristically high amount of turnovers and missed free throws.

They might have lost, but I was definitely impressed.

Agreed. Nightmare matchup on the road and we still played them close to even. Makes me feel better about March.

So it's okay to call a coach a wizard when we are winning but not to blame him when he does something stupid? Ok...

He was not the sole reason we lost, but it didn't help he didn't stop the bleeding when we were down 5. Bonzie blew it too by missing important free throws.

He did that earlier in the season in a game, can't remember the exact one, but his reasoning was that he trust his veteran team to tame the momentum and in that game (can't remember it) they did. So it wasn't just this game, he just trust this team to take care of business.

Not calling TOs isn't necessarily stupid. He has a good feel for the team obviously and trusts them to play through things. Florida State was on fire, but ND had some very good looks that weren't converted like we are accustomed to seeing. Should Brey call a time out and remind them to make layups or save the timeouts for the last 2 minutes when they got it down to one possession? To say he blew the game with 5 minutes to go is a bit of a stretch, imo, considering how it played out.

Guh, tough loss. I missed the majority of the first half (until the comment I made about the terrible missed call and then the goaltend).

Went back to re-watch it. Had to stop, was getting mad. Then I saw this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Just finished the first half of Florida State-Notre Dame and I'm not sure I can remember a team getting a friendlier home whistle.</p>— Rob Dauster (@RobDauster) <a href="https://twitter.com/RobDauster/status/821886897924489216">January 19, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

That about sums it up.

Second half was better, and we should lose that game with 18 or whatever turnovers. But man, stealing one at their place would have been huge.

Bonzie didn't blow it, the team did. It started late in the game when Ferrel drove to the baseline with no place to go but out of bounds which forced him to make that bad pass that was intercepted and led to the dunk. That play shifted the momentum quicker than a hiccup. From there, FSU just made plays on both ends of the court.

This team can play with anyone in the country, but to beat the top ten, they have to take care of the ball.

Quite a game - had not seen FSU yet but impressed with the volume of lanky athletic guys they churn in and out of the game. Can see how they really wear down a lot of folks. Felt like we were losing by 20 but somehow take it down to the wire.

Mental error at end when they tried to get two after the steal, down three with under 10 seconds guys! Never panicked though and kept going to work to get it that close. FSU made free throws at the end -makes it hard to catch up. 13 man rotation also wears you down. Hat tip to FSU - let's stay out of their bracket for ACC and NCAA please.

Many past teams would have folded in a physical game like this. When you are playing larger more athletic kids and allowed to play that physical for the entire length of the court you are in for a long night. We fought through it and stayed in the game, still pushing into the paint instead of chucking up threes all over the place. Actually thought we should have pushed for more open jump shots/threes since we weren't getting any calls in the paint.

And as mentioned above, the goaltending no-call was almost as embarrassing as the announcers gushing over the "block" - wtf.

Depending on our first round draw in the Tourney, this team could repeat to the Elite 8 or get bounced in the first round by an athletic team like Florida State.

Honestly, there is no reason this team should be playing at this level.

I'll say it again: Just for Men, Touch of BREY!
