A certain amount of attrition is really business as usual in college football. At Notre Dame, since 2000, the only recruiting class to lose fewer than three players — due to transferring, medical hardship, NCAA Clearinghouse issues or just giving up football to be a regular student — is the one Kelly signed two Februarys ago. That class has lost defensive end Aaron Lynch to a transfer and offensive lineman Brad Carrico to medical hardship thus far.

Two other classes in that range (2004 and 2006) had attrition in double digits.

And that class technically qualifies as well, since Prestwood transferred in and back out again.

I'd be more interested to know the average (and minimum) year-to-year attrition rates over the last decade or so, because that's what determines how many players we can safely "over-sign" in February. As Lax has advocated, I'd bet it's 2-3 per year.

Stephon Tuitt (sports hernia) was back in full pads this morning at ND's spring practice.

Ishaq Williams worked at second-team cat linebacker during the media viewing portion of practice.

Amir Carlisle not in full pads today at #notredame's spring practice, but he is participating in all non-contact drills.

RB Amir Carlisle, 8 days removed from surgery on his broken collarbone, was running around and taking handoffs but not having contact.

OLB Danny Spond was a spectator, out of pads and with no helmet during Wednesday's practice.

Davaris was hurt at the end of last practice. Looked really bad but apparently just a tweak of something. Should be fine

Still not reading too much into this [other than the need to get our guys back from their injuries and the frosh studs in camp --- the depth chart is horrible at the moment]. The "first" vs "second" still looks to me like 90+% Kelly's policy of Starters plus Vets get first to begin with, and others fill in the "second" as best possible.

If you see a Healthy person NOT in an expected spot, THAT tells you more. Example: "Welch in the mix" vs. Koyack on Second; or McDaniel Second, no Mahone; or no Rabasa, Hardy, Badger, etc. Onwualu in the mix on first is interesting to me.

He's one of current players I followed on twitter up til yesterday. I was losing respect for him and didn't want that to continue. Tons of tweets, lots about girls and other weird stuff. Not saying it's directly affecting his spot on the depth chart, but I think if he gave his blackberry a punt it would do him some good. I'm not friends with him on fbook but he goes crazy on there, too.

lmao....i figured as much...i too unfollowed him couple of weeks ago...thought the same thing
