Apparently rumors of Bo Pelini to Tennessee talks gaining some traction.

Husker fans are pumped at the possibility of this.

I guess that B1G championship was pretty bad, but careful what you wish for. I still think Pelini is a good coach. That defense during the Suh years ... dominating.

My goodness Nebraska, you couldn't get someone in the department to retake a pic for the website? Or did Bo look at this and say, "Nailed it. That's a good look for me"

Bo's a great DC. If he is to have success as a HC, he needs a good OC. I am a fan of UT (the only SEC team I can stand), and not to excited about Bo, but I wouldn't be unhappy either if he was hired.

With all the names falling off the board in their coaching search, I'd be happy with them bringing Fulmer back with a up and coming FCS coach to groom. Hell I'd be OK with Petrino coming in as OC if Fulmer came back to HC for a short period.

Ooh you are on to something ... Pelini as HC, Petrino as OC ... wow.

Two reservations:
1) Petrino may still be untouchable due to the scandal (though as OC I think he'd be hirable, since that's a demotion), and
2) that would be just too much Italian awesomeness for me as an Italian-American to handle. I'd have to become a UT fan.

side note on UT: I sat next to one of their linebackers, Christian Harris, on an airplane last summer. He seemed like a really cool, modest, thoughtful kid. YJ, did he crack the lineup this year? I know he redshirted last year and was hoping to get on the field this year.

sorry but why? Pelini hasn't set the world on fire but he's not been bad either

On 9/09/12 he fried his own butt, 36-30, 344 yds rushing allowed.

On 10/06/12 he singed off, 63-38, 371 yds rushing allowed.

He immolated himself on 12/01/12, 70-31, 539 yds rushing allowed.

He's got the #1 Pass Defense because he has the 95th Rushing Defense.

UCLA rushed for 344 AND threw for 309, 653 yds of offense.

OSU only had 127 passing but only threw the ball 14 times.

Wisconsin only threw for 101 yds but only threw the ball 10 times or 10+ yds per ATTEMPT.

Yeah but those wins over Arkansas STATE and Idaho STATE were impressive.

In 6 seasons Pelini is 49-19, .721.

Frank Solich got fired after 6 season with 58-19, .753.

Husker fans aren't satisfied that's Pelini is better than Callahan. They want Devaney/Osborne success, .800+.

Even if Devany/Osborne never had to play schedules like the Huskers do now.

Harris to my knowledge never cracked the 2 deep. Their D was horrible this year too. Petrino a stud on the O, just made some very, very, stupid mistakes. He'll either stay an outcast for the next few years, go to a crap HC job, or go to a good team as an OC. Hoping he has learned from his mistakes and gets a second chance. I'd be happy to see him come to UT with his tail between his legs in an OC position under Fulmer, Petrino, or any respectful HC that does things the right way. Petrino could help in the recruiting space, and UT has not done very well since Lame Kitten left.

Yep, and I will say I never liked him in the Big10. Honestly I think it has a lot to do with recruiting performance. In the last 5-6 years, Nebraska has only cracked the top 25 a few times, and when they did, they were in the 20s. I think this a product of their location, style, and changing conferences. Anyway, I see Nebraska as a school on the decline in terms of sexiness, like several traditional powerhouses. Let's face it, in today's world, the sexy places are in the South, and the West Coast. ND has proven they can compete, but we have a sexy all our own in a unique kind of way. Nebraska, just not sexy.

Definite rumblings of unrest in husker land. DeVaney and Osborne set the bar a little too high.

You know what's sexy? Winning. Certainly no reason they couldn't compete for elite Big Ten talent. But they do seem to under-recruit.

Isn't that like saying Chizik is a good coach because the offense during the Newton years was dominating?

lol, maybe. It's harder for one guy to dominate on defense, but rare talents like Suh (and our own Manti) are able to do it, let's face it.

With Barry Alvarez stepping in to coach the Badgers in the Rose Bowl. Is anybody wondering if he is dipping his toe in to see if he would want to step down from AD and coach the team again?

I mean, with the current landscape of available coaches, it would be a lot easier to find a good AD than a good head coach.

Rome interviewed him on the radio today and his answer to that question was "I can find a good coach", so it didn't sound like he was too interested. However, his answer wasn't a straight up "No!" either.

Maybe he sees what Bill Snyder has done and decided he wants to go at it again.

I read that the team captains asked him to coach the bowl game. Not sure what to make of that, if anything.

I can't see someone wanting to be HC at Cinci over Asst. HC at ND.

I agree. Cinci does scare me a bit. It's been a spring board job of late.... I don't think he goes, but it will be more interesting than the BC situation.

I agree Cincy is in the lower tier of football schools when it comes to support, tradition, recognition, etc.. They can be competitive some years, but I can't see them playing for a NC ever.
