I figured that one of our more tenured members would remember if it happened. I simply didn't have the time to go that far out. Thanks for the clarification.

So that ndnation fella thinks that if ND doesn't hand a good navy team their worst loss in 41 years, then there is something obviously wrong with Kelly.

What are they going to complain about since we did beat them by 40+?

that site had me depressed, I kept thinking there has to be a better site out there for true Notre Dame fans, glad I found this site.

You are my Shanty, my red faced Shanty.
You make me happy, when you run Gray...

and for the Holidays..

Kelly the red faced Shanty, had a very purple glow...
he likes to call his own plays, even stupid backward throws.
All of the ND Nation, need to see him win more games.
We all think he's a moran, for not running Wood and Gray.

Then one AC/DC day, Navy came to play..
Kelly, with your backs so bright,
won't you kick our *** tonight.

haha

I have recently quit NDN. Their ridiculous caste system and deference to anyone who is a "long time poster" has basically rid them of any diversity of thought. UHND is heading down the same road. You can see the ranting conversation of the same 20 people preaching to their own choir every day. I can't tell you how happy I am to have finally stumbled onto IE. I follow it mostly on my iPhone on tapatalk. It's nice to see a board where reasonable people can disagree about things but not get run off the board.

It's also nice to find a discussion where you can discuss mistakes without going nuclear.

I honestly do feel that most of the posters on NDN and UHND didn't like the hire of Kelly and would be actively unhappy if he were to go on a run and, heaven forbid, win a title.

I basically went there for the other information, but the overwhelming negativity is palpable there.

IMO, there is no more destructive force on the outside of the program to ND football than NDNation.

That entire board should be on suicide watch. I seriously think you have to be completely disgusted with life in general to be a regular poster there.

I haven't even looked at NDNation in over a year. Very few things said were intelligent or thought out. The Four Horsemen Lounge on Irish Illustrated isn't much better. It's ridiculous the garbage that people post in there.

IF we were to win a NC under BK I would hate to be a MOD on this board! (in a good way) This place would go nuts and I would imagine a crap ton of trolls would be around. We would have a million threads about "I told you so" or "I called it". This place gets down pretty hard after a big loss but rebounds quite nicely. Almost as if you can see just how much they care but are still reasonable people. However, an NC might shut this board down from all the traffic for a day or 2!

Great *ss board never the less!!

I kept getting sucked back in to see other stuff like recruiting tidbits and there were a few posters I looked for that weren't awful.

But the general theme there is being locked in the past - often locked in a past that never existed.

I don't want to stomp on our proud tradition, but holding on to a tradition just for the sake of the tradition is asinine to me. As the saying goes, just because it's a tradition doesn't mean it isn't stupid.

I think our helmets are a perfect example of evolving a tradition. Yeah, it sucks that our managers don't paint them the night before the game, but honestly, it's probably been 20+ years since that made any sense at all in modern football equipment. So they made a change, and I think the new helmets look brilliant. I absolutely love them. It's taking the gold to a new level. But we would never have had them if we had been too scared to evolve.

I don't know jack (my apologies to my cousin, many friends and JFK for my abuse of the name "Jack." My crusade against abuse of my name is well documented.) about NDNation since I've never visited the site. Maybe I'll pull a BGIF and dredge up some history of ND vs Navy scores for your edification.

Oh, and as to more "tenured," cute. Me likey, though.

BGIF: Would you PLEASE(!) use your magic fact finding skills to save me the time and frustration?

Your apology accepted on behalf of the Jacks. We do!

Other 40 points wins over Navy besides 56-14.

dshans was at the biggest ND v USN game MOV in '70, 56-7, a 49 point win.

ND shutout Navy 40-0 in '49 and '64 and 41-0 in '89.

ND won by 43 in '87, 56-13.

ND put of 58 points in back to back years, '93 and '94 but Navy had 3 or 4 scores in those games.

Of the 8 games mentioned 1 was Leahy, 1 Parshegian, 1 Devine, and 4 were Holtz, and 1 is now Kelly's. Kelly's in select company.

It's one thing to criticize occasionally the things that irk us and its another to be negative all the time. I will stick with IE myself because we really do have some great fans here and I like the info and discussions here better than anywhere else.
Its why I post here and just read the other stuff. This program is at a crossroads and a jumbotron/field turf/music is ok but not the answer. They need players-simple and to the point. Players that are on campus to win football games and if they so choose -get educated. I'm tired of no one having the $%#@! to say it. You want to compete on the level of the top tier teams with nice educated gentlemen. It does not work. We dont want hoods but I think everyone understands what I mean. I'm tired of Notre Dame doing things like the ''racoon coat days and win one for StateU' while getting pounded in big boy football games. Watch the game this weekend in Alabama-it is an exact micro/copy of the game of '66 between Notre Dame and Mich State. That game had something like 35 guys on the roster of both teams who played pro football. Neither team had many choir boys playing in that game. Let'em, in let 'em play, or you can just keep talking about the graduation rate. If Notre Dame lost $$$$ this would change. And people are fretting over twitter crap/jumbotorons/and field turf-are you kidding me.

Just documenting the madness:

In response to BK saying that he only cares what the players think of the helmets and not anyone else, a poster on NDN had this to say:

"Here's what I think-you are white trash Brian Kelly. I will not spend a dime on this program or university as long as you are the coach-that is guaranteed."

" To me this program has been dead for 67 years. Ever since the program was given up by the CSC brothers to the board of ND this program has gone all down hill"

To which i relpied, "Were you even alive 67 years ago?" i didnt get a reply, so i assumed he mustve been a student 67 years ago.

What a loser. Make us a better fan base by excusing yourself from it.

That site has really gotten me emotionally invested in Kelly. If he won an NC, they would have to shut-down.

In their defense, NDNation knows a lot about trash.

That board is beyond out of control. I really wish somebody at ND could nuke it. It's a terrible representation of the university and its fan base.

This is just hilarious. I can't help but picture that poster to be Niedermyer from Animal House - born with a silver spoon up his *** and the idea that he is a lot more important than he really is.

I wrote Swarbrick the Tuesday or so after USC. Sent it Priority Mail, return receipt requested. Got the return receipt. No response yet, however, from Jack. And while it was a strident letter, it was respectful.
I'm surprised. I figured I'd at least get a form response.

Yes... because I am sure the Jack doesn't have better things to do than write a random NDnation dude back regarding his disgust in the program.
