On what make believe planet is Josh Adams an average back? In three years he racked up 3000 yards and placed himself sixth on the total rushing record. He went undrafted to the Eagles but by the end of the year was the starting rb for the defending super bowl champs. That’s not average. You don’t need 4.3 speed to be great at football.

One of my faves too, truly a highlight for the 2015 squad was his emergence. I think a lot of us jumped on the hype train when the news broke that he was switching positions, especially after reflecting on the end around he housed against LSU in the 2014 bowl game. Still, (I don't have the time or energy to look back that far), but I doubt that many had predicted him producing at that level.

If he didn't get banged up towards the end of the season, he would have put up Josh Adam's numbers IMO.

That's why '15 goes down as one of my favorite BK era seasons. We overcame a lot and still balled out, especially with DK and CJP rising to the occasion when two starters went down.

In general terms, we've had some very good and productive RBs. A lot of them had the pleasure of running behind some very good lines, with a very good line coach. RB recruiting has been one of the most questionable areas, so I'm not really sure what to think of our results.

Did we do a great job developing, did we find "diamonds in the rough", was it what we should expect behind some very good lines? IDK. I'm sure it's a combination. For once though, I'd like to have a super fast and highly rated stud that actually works out at ND, and gets to run behind one of our better OLs.

Well I agree it’s be great to get someone Tyree with his speed and ability but we’re selling CJ and Josh short by calling them average backs. Prosise had 1300 total yards in only 10 games in 15. Adams had almost 3000 yards in 3 years. Even in 16 Adams was close to going for 1000 yards in a terrible season. Certainly the o line play helped both of them at the first level but they were running away from people at the second and third levels. And it looks like Adams is going to play a big role in Philly next season. They’re both better than average players.
My question is what rb doesnt benefit from good offensive line play?

I think you answered your own question.....i loved josh, met him and was an absolute awesome dude....he was a huuge part of us getting to 10 wins the previous year...but if he was beyond an average back, he would have been drafted. it is not to say he can't have a great career eventually or that he had a great college career but at the end of the day if he was viewed as above avg, a team would have taken a flyer on him....this is not to disrespect him as a person or player...but the eagles had some major injuries w/ running backs in front of him go down and the other running backs couldn't produce... he never eclipsed 100 yards on the year in any game for the eagles... so he had 1 year at ND were he was excellent for like the first 7 games( i think) but then injuries...so we never got to see that on full display so when you look at the overall picture, he is an average back currently.

He also was going into the draft process hurt.

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock, who attended Thursday's workout, hinted at an impending surgery for Adams.

"He’s got a foot problem that’s apparently going to need some surgery. That’s going to hurt him a little bit," Mayock said. "I thought he was a third-day prospect, and I think the foot thing is going to hurt him a little bit, but with his height-weight-speed ratio, he has a chance."

Never called them average. Point is, I want to get a top 5 guy that's actually a good fit and works out, who gets top 5 production. Josh was awesome for us. Will be interesting to see how he does in 2019.

Josh Adams was a very good college RB. You don't run for 3200 yards at a 6.7 ypc clip in 3 years while sharing the ball because of scheme & injury.

Josh Adams was the best RB we've had at ND in the past 10 years imo. would take one of him every year and be ok with it.

I don’t think he went undrafted because he was average, I think he went undrafted because of durability issues. It seems he’s been injured in every season for the last 5 years going back to high school. But when he’s not injured he’s produced at an above average rate.

IMO, Adams draft prospects went down due to his injuries and never getting a chance to heal. When he got to the second level, he had underrated speed.

Jordan Johnson, Chris Tyree, and Michael Mayer would be our best trio of skill position commits since...

Edit: According to 247, Duval Kamara, Robert Hughes, and Mike Ragone had a higher combined rating. As did, Michae Floyd, Kyle Rduolph, and Jonas Gray. Let’s pray this class is more the latter than the former.

I doubt it, unless Henning isn't interested in playing receiver. To my knowledge they wouldn't be directly competing with each other for field time.

The couple of negatives would be Jase McClellan their 5* RB commit is coming for his OV this weekend and maybe bonds with Tyree. Second is that this will probably be the biggest and craziest visit weekend at any college in this cycle so far with a huge visitor list from what I’ve seen. However, I think OU looks like a leader for Kendall Milton (although he’s still visiting plenty of schools), doesn’t have remotely the need for Tyree that ND does, and they’ve already got a higher RB committed. He could look at this visit in multiple different ways. Hopefully it ends up with ND getting a commitment.

Another CB from the Temple analyst, Ryan Wallen. Before ya, "Who cares about him?" Historically he's just a half percent behind Wiltfong and 11 points better than Loy.
