I'll be the guy. McG is the best DE in the country and nothing is going to make me feel better about losing him... IF that's what happens.

One thing to watch IF he goes Weasel, Mich "leads" for the following '20 DE's:

4* Van Filliger - UT - 6-4/240
3* Brandon Taylor - OH - 6-3.5/250
4* Antuan Powell - NC - 6-3/235
4* Bryce Mostella - MI - 6-6/235

They won't sign them all.

Fillinger has played the Michigan is my dream school card and balled out at the Opening Oakland.

Brandon Taylor is a Khalid Kareem 2.0. Love his tape from this camp season.

Antuan Powell is an ND Offer but as soon as UM offered the CN's started rolling.

Bryce Mostella is from E Kentwood and has visited ND numerous times - Dad was All-SEC at Auburn, they are recruiting him but not yet offered.

I think they'd start by turning up the heat on guys like Ivey (try and get a visit) or Yurosek (when he visits) while throwing out a new offer or two. Personally, I'd really like to see them make a push for Jay Hardy. A lot of similarities between him and Mills but things would look pretty interesting with those two lined up at 5T's with a couple of ROLB's on the outside (maybe one inside).

This is where there seems to be some conflicting reports. Driskell is saying that UM mods at Rivals have told him that the UM staff was aware of this and expects good news. However, both Loy and Freeman have said that this was news to not only both staffs but those close to him. UM 247 mods seem to support this as well. Not sure what to make of it. Considering I thought we had momentum going into this visit, I feel like we still would have that momentum. I just find it hard to believe he'd tell Elston, "thanks but no thanks", as well as to players in his class that he's spent significantly more time with than UM recruits. However, this does seems like a little rushed and that usually seems to favor the home team.

Maybe UM got ballsy and said we need an answer because we have a bunch of guys in line that are ready to pop and you could be without options and BM bit and made a hasty decision to set a date.... you never know whats going on with HS kids.

ISD has not said "probably Michigan".

Matt has stood by his prediction to ND multiple times over the past few weeks.

Mike also stated that while he's not as confident as Tyree (who he basically implied will commit to ND), that he still likes ND's chances with McGregor. Mike is generally the most pessimistic of the ISD group. He's not one to sugarcoat things.

I still think ND and a big reason is because of Mike Elston. To say he has a good relationship with McGregor is a massive understatement. I think it's pretty easy to draw the conclusion that he's the single most important person involved in his recruitment from any school.

ND has 4 DLine commits and he’s publicly acknowledged he’s very close with Rylie Mills and he’s spent a weekend with Aidan Keanaaina. ND’s got Mike Elston, a top 25 recruiter in the country, on him vs Shaun Nua who’s had 1 4* commit to him while he was at Arizona St under Herm Edwards. He does have NFL playing experience over Elston. ND offered 4/10/18 while Michigan offered 4/21/18 (has to be close to a moot point at this point but could matter a tiny bit). It’s not like McGregor is going 10 visits vs 1 visit either for ND and Michigan as he’s been to both many times that the comfortability probably won’t outweigh one school vs the other. Lastly and I think importantly,

.9003 4* RS SR Ron Johnson
.8696 3* SR Kwity Paye
.9734 4* RS JR Luiji Vilain
.9498 4* JR Aidan Hutchinson
.8742 3* RS SO Taylor Upshaw
.8694 3* RS SO Julius Welschof
.8986 4* RS FR David Ojabo
.8891 3* RS FR Mike Morris (likely 3T)
.8655 3* RS FR Gabe Newburg

.8584 3* RS SR Ade Ogundeji
.8415 3* RS SR Jamir Jones
.8427 3* RS JR Kofi Wardlow
.8755 3* RS SO Ovie Oghuofo
.8709 3* RS SO Justin Ademilola
.9164 4* RS FR Isaiah Foskey
.9014 4* RS FR Nana Osafo-Mensah
.9424 4* FR Jordan Botelho

Strong recruited depth chart for both schools and I think there’s a compelling path to playing time at both schools honestly. I’ll be optimistic and say 51-49 ND but I honestly have no clue.

Honestly, no idea where he is going.

But this really would be an incredible class. The German kid is like an Ade and will have time to develop if we land McG.

The Skunkbears don't seem to know either. A couple of alumni with some "connections" in the office are confident but for no other reasons than we have to be optimistic; pure speculation. No insider knowledge.

You're right though, what a huge amount of momentum heading into the summer for this class if we can nab both.

I still believe this will be a fluid recruitment after he announces. Will be a battle between these two until he signs in (assuming) December.

Good Sampson article on Rylie Mills on the athletic. Pertinent tidbit: if McGregor comes to ND, he and Mills plan to EE and room together.

FWIW, maybe nothing. I know kids talk all the time, but that one made me a bit more hopeful, that they're not just boys but have talked details about possibly EE and rooming.

Crazy question, but if he chooses scUM, is there concern for a possible decommit/switch by Rylie or is he all Irish?

I feel like if you take out the Rylie Millis connection and Mike Elston relationship, this one has been fairly easy to see.

And McGregor's corner is too smart to let a friend and a coach tip the scales. Coaches rarely stay put.

Why, Michigan sucks?

Not saying this is happening but it's what you are inferring and what others have as well. I wouldn't call it smart to keep your son from going to a program he may want to go to because of a 4 hour difference in drive time, round trip.

Also, you could say the same thing about UM. You think if Harbaugh/Don Brown would leave UM, he'd be happy with that choice?

But isn't he a Michigan fan? I know they were his immediate favorite - perhaps he wasn't a fan but living there and early favorite, I would assume he is/was.

That plus location really mattering, IDK, this one would be a tough pull.

The use of the phrase "upset" doesn't exactly bode well.

I don't know why Loy's CB is still on the Irish when he has sources in the Gug basically telling him they're not favored.

Because he literally does everything for clicks. That’s why we have every 6 hour updates. That’s why his headlines the way they are.

Generally I agree. Pick the school not the coach, largely for that reason. But Mike Elston is pretty rare.

Clark Lea over Don Brown? Never mind it was fixed

Also I thought we only yelled uncle once to Trevor Lawerence not twice?

Next I will have to hear about Phil being on Trevor Lawerences level again

Never mind me, posted was edited.

My <<< must’ve been hard to read lol. I have Don Brown as better in Braiden McGregor’s eyes than Clark Lea. Just a guess but I’d bet 35+ years of being a D-Coordinator and a damn good one at that is an easier sell than Clark Lea who had a fantastic first year but had just 1 year of experience running a defense.
