There’s also the possibility that even Braiden has no idea where he wants to go (at this point he probably does with a commit date) or didn’t for a while. Some kids set deadlines because it forces them into making a decision when they have a hard time choosing between one or the other school. Other kids don’t know until the day of their announcement. Asa Turner was going to ND on signing day when he woke up in the morning, printed out a NLI for ND and then a few hours later changed his mind and decided to delay his commitment. That could be a little off cause I don’t remember every single detail but some kids just have a tough time making a choice. Bottom line, ND offered first, had the better season, has the strong program right now, has their best recruiter on him (Elston), has visited him the maximum number of time allowable by NCAA rules, and had him on campus for gameday visits and at least 5 times total. At this point there’s not a lot else ND can do from a recruiting standpoint and just hope the kid picks the good guys. Plus, if you were to take a 247 composite of the returning DE’s on both roster’s, Michigan actually has more recruited talent at the position than ND which would hopefully help him with early playing time but that’s sort of an unknown. Either way, i think ND has done just about everything they can.
