Sounds like ND liked their position but the moving up of the announcement has caught folks by surprise. I’d be fairly surprised, after all his talks about relationships, if he chose UM, but the timing is interesting.

Any chance he picks Florida after coming for a visit there? It would be disappointing if he didn’t pick us but not the end of the world

I don’t think it’s a big loss. If we didn’t have Bothelo, different story then. He’d be the cherry on top to our current d-line class, but I’m not gonna lose sleep if he goes somewhere else.

Here’s to hope he picks the Irish though.

With that being said, if he isn’t Irish then someone needs to be fired! Off with Elston’s head!!

We'll see. I think he would've completed a phenomenal DL haul. We certainly have talent along the line but I think he'll be a multi-year starter.

7 or 8 out of 10 CB’s are for the bad guys. How many times do that many whiff at the same time?

Can you please elaborate?

Everyone is shocked with him moving up his date to Friday, including the ND coaches. Apparently, coaches from ND and UM weren’t aware this would be happening, however, one of the Michigan mods feels he already told UM he was heading there.

Someone at ISD brought up something funny, UF was the last team to destroy UM. They probably had that video up all weekend, lol.

In the beginning through recently I thought for sure ND would be a strong 2nd/3rd place finisher.

I go to Tosh Baker's Showcase, hang out with some industry types and they say McG is all but done to ND. I'm flipped and 99% sure he's Irish.

This happens today, I send a text out to said industry type who responds... "Asked the guys on your side... Doesn't sound good now but they don't know for sure."

So I'll call it 50-50 and wait for announcement day.

I wonder what changed. Everyone was so sure he was Irish especially after Mills committed but now it's not looking good.

What changed? The feelings of some industry guys? In reality, maybe nothing.

A lot of this stuff is a soap opera script. The "reality" we're fed is just a spun up guess of what is going on packaged to get maximum clicks.

There’s also the possibility that even Braiden has no idea where he wants to go (at this point he probably does with a commit date) or didn’t for a while. Some kids set deadlines because it forces them into making a decision when they have a hard time choosing between one or the other school. Other kids don’t know until the day of their announcement. Asa Turner was going to ND on signing day when he woke up in the morning, printed out a NLI for ND and then a few hours later changed his mind and decided to delay his commitment. That could be a little off cause I don’t remember every single detail but some kids just have a tough time making a choice. Bottom line, ND offered first, had the better season, has the strong program right now, has their best recruiter on him (Elston), has visited him the maximum number of time allowable by NCAA rules, and had him on campus for gameday visits and at least 5 times total. At this point there’s not a lot else ND can do from a recruiting standpoint and just hope the kid picks the good guys. Plus, if you were to take a 247 composite of the returning DE’s on both roster’s, Michigan actually has more recruited talent at the position than ND which would hopefully help him with early playing time but that’s sort of an unknown. Either way, i think ND has done just about everything they can.

What changed, who knows? We've seen this a number of times over the years. These are teenage kids and are vulnerable to most anything that can influence them including just waking up in the morning.

Loy has a somewhat positive update. Even mentions one of his sources saying this may be a ND/ Florida battle. Though, he mentioned he finds that hard to believe.

I guess I'm down to be pleasantly surprised, but I just don't see us winning this one.

I’m surprised not to see the CB’s filling up one way or another by now. Does this mean the “experts” don’t know either.

I know for a fact that the ND staff had not heard anything from him at the time he announced that he was setting a commitment date.

Unless that's true for the other 2 schools too, that doesn't smell good.

This is where there seems to be some conflicting reports. Driskell is saying that UM mods at Rivals have told him that the UM staff was aware of this and expects good news. However, both Loy and Freeman have said that this was news to not only both staffs but those close to him. UM 247 mods seem to support this as well. Not sure what to make of it. Considering I thought we had momentum going into this visit, I feel like we still would have that momentum. I just find it hard to believe he'd tell Elston, "thanks but no thanks", as well as to players in his class that he's spent significantly more time with than UM recruits. However, this does seems like a little rushed and that usually seems to favor the home team.

If he goes into his school gym on a Friday night were all of them are probably 98% Michigan fans and puts on a ND hat he will be my all time favorite recruit. Nothing could top that.

If he was deciding on twitter I would feel a lot better. Sometimes you can look at the venue as a dead giveaway. But I've see K Russell do it, Tony Steward do it and others spurn there in state school in their own gym. But this time? I would go 55/45 Michigan to ND.

At least rivals just came out and said Michigan. ISD said probably Michigan. Other sites will throw out random updates for clicks

Also don't listen to Driskell when it comes to anything recruiting. The way he handles the people who pay this salary and treats people I doubt many ND coaches really give him the time of day.

He does have 2 of his HS coaches that are diehard ND fans.

I know he's likely to grow into a SDE making the comparison moot, but in case he chooses Michigan and we all freak out, I'd like to go on record that I like the Hawaiian WDE we have committed more than McGregor at the WDE position.

If McGregor is a SDE then IDK who I'd rather have because that position's harder for me to watch film on. But if I had to choose 1 and they had to play WDE, I'd take Hawaii.

Seems fairly obvious he's going to Michigan at this point and everyone is trying to talk themselves into believing otherwise. That and as some have mentioned, ND sites trying to keep the clicks coming.

Agreed, if WDE is the only position under consideration. If we were creating a "Big Board" and we were drafting purely based on BPA and not need, these two would be very close, IMO. Almost too close to call.
