What exactly is Loy'd? Does it have multiple meanings?

Hard to believe that's the first ND CB by an analyst. I thought this has been over for some time.

Yeah, I thought it meant something negative. At least it used to when it originated. A CB would be positive, I'd think.

In the past, "Loy'd" meant that Loy had a ND cb in for a kid and was real confident with it. Just to have the kid go somewhere else.

My understanding was that it was originally used when Loy spilled the beans on something too early, but has recently been used for Loy simply putting down a CB as a sarcastic "Oh Loy picked him to come here, so we're screwed." It's a way to announce that Loy CBd him but also to call the jinx.

Now that i've explained the joke, I'm sure it will die.

So that Hammer is saying is... Loy is Loying and he's predicting a forthcoming Loy'd with Zinter going elsewhere...

Strong call indeed.

I think Hammer is just saying that Loy put in a cb, not meaning the same thing it meant in the past when everyone got a ND cb from Loy.

I am both reporting a CB and jokingly calling it a jinx.

We can really murder a joke fast around here with the rules and regulations.

I gotcha. When I didn't see the italics I was thinking it was a positive.

We're on the same page.

Loy with a CB to scUM. Wonder if ND backed off or whats up with that. I know they are supposed to be getting a commit announcement soon and I have heard it is on offense.

Backed off, slow played, told him his slot and it wasn't likely to come up. Call it what you will but he wasn't allowed to pull the trigger.

Too bad for him and Skoronski and maybe even Monheim. Too bad these guys weren't two years older... I'll throw Chris Mayo in there too.

'20 was a bumper crop of interior linemen and ND coouldn't take advantage of it.

But Tosh, Carmody and Atteberry is great for a small class that proceeds the Valhaulla of 2021.

Yeah those are perfect for this class. Tosh is the pure LT. Carmody is the swing tackle/guard who I think can play LT as well. Then Atteberey is like a pocket knife on the line. Can play anywhere. Great class.

I watched the 20 class closely. Since many of these kid's freshman seasons/films.

I thought it would be a haul because there were a lot of RKG's who liked ND but it was not meant to be numbers wise and 2021 makes it almost pointless to be sad about.

On to '21.

Unless Carmody is not a done deal and he gets jiggy down at A&M.

Unfortunately we may never see him cause ND and Michigan have their schedules filled out until 2021 and who knows after that. Makes no sense not to play them every season

You wanna play Bowling Green more? How bout Navy every year? Does that move the needle? ND is in a position where they could go 11-1 and not make the playoffs and you want to take one of the best programs they face off the schedule. That makes total sense. I hate Michigan as much as anyone but it makes for great tv, it’s a ridiculously popular rivalry, and a great recruiting opportunity.

Interesting, I often wonder why ND does not play Ohio State more regularly in the season. When was last time that game happened (not counting 2015)?

Sad for him but he'll get more clock there and he'll get a quality education because he'll actually use what the school offers the average student.

As per playing Mich, dump Stanford in '24 and replace it with:

'25 - Mich St
'26 - @ Mich St
'27 - Mich
'28 - @ Mich
'29 - repeat

Michigan all about ND cast offs right now. Zinter tried to commit to ND earlier but was told to wait... hope Quinn knows what he’s doing with Atteberry and Carmody, because otherwise it’s going to look foolish passing on a quality prospect like Zinter.

I don't think I said ND should play Bowling Green. I wasn't trying to be combative.

ND is an independent school. They should use that to their advantage. Lets play Georgia, Bama, A&M, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Oregon, Ole Miss, Florida, Ohio State, Auburn, Penn State...anyone.

In all honesty, I'm fine with playing Michigan a couple times a decade or so but not every year. ND can play ANYONE. The only team I want on the schedule every year is USC. ND has the opportunity to be very unique and play powers from across the country every year. They should use that opportunity wisely and playing the same regional school every year isn't as exciting to me.

Imagine a schedule with say...Penn State, Florida State, USC and maybe an Iowa State and Ole Miss. No other school can really do that. ND can and should in my opinion.

Hard pass. Having a west coast presence every year is good for recruiting. And I have a feeling Stanford isn't too far away from going down the tubes again so it'll make traveling to California even better.

Playing Michigan holds little to no recruiting value IMO.

Yea sorry. Didn’t want to sound like a fighter. I just think ND has a top 5-10 rivalry in the FBS and I’d love to keep that if possible. I also think it’s necessary to play more local games if u can. Already ND’s schedule is going to be more National than others based on who they are, but if you start adding road games to FSU, Ole Miss and others like that then I think the travel will wear on these guys. That’s been a complaint from this coaching staff is the excessive travel and “On Broadway Play” that they are sometimes. It would be fun to play a lot of the teams you mentioned. I’d play Penn State anytime anywhere. That would be fun.

As long as Michigan is an 8 win team, it will always hold value. It's a blue blood with iconic facilities/gameday experience and it's a Jordan Brand school.

Michigan State because they are a real, tier one Irish rival.

F*** Stanford. Play Cal if you wanna go NorCal
