He has always come off as a whiny bitch to me. Or did I miss your implied italics?

man just 2 years away from that full pension---can't turn that down to be set for EVER

Absolutely!!!

This is all about family and his future.

The whole time I kept thinking he had to be close to getting full pension.

Hate that we have to keep playing a good Navy team, but this guy is a home run and perfect for helping train the men that are going to defend our country!

Being facetious regarding Martin I'm assuming?

Tee Martin has effectively zero coordinator experience. He has been the best coach either, by all accounts, just a likable guy that recruits well. So now USC an unproven HC with a penchant for running offenses that are underwhelming for their talent, and an unproven coordinator to boot. What could go wrong?

The only way I see them becoming a serious threat is if they get an ace DC of some sort.

BYU Cougars agree with Kalani Sitake to become next head coach

Oregon State defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake has agreed to a deal to become BYU's next head coach, a source confirmed to ESPN's Joe Schad.

Sitake, 40, played four years at BYU as a fullback and graduated in 2000. He spent the past year as Oregon State's defensive coordinator after serving as an assistant at Utah from 2005 to 2014.

Oregon State struggled defensively this season under Sitake, ranking 116th out of 128 FBS teams in total defense.

If the deal is completed, Sitake would replace Bronco Mendenhall, who was hired earlier this month by Virginia after spending the past 11 years at BYU.

Based on the article segment above, Sitake doesn't seem like a home run hire for BYU. A DC from a team that was at the bottom of the FBS defensively? Maybe he's an awesome recruiter? How much emphasis does BYU place on their HC hire being Mormon?

I am under the impression that being Mormon is a requirement, not sure if that is true though.

I am not going to bore you with all the details but yes, you have to be a Mormon to be the coach, and in good standing with the church (I.E. being a "good mormon")

That being said it's hard for BYU to make a homer hire. Who wants to recruit at a school where you can't drink, smoke, or have sex? If you do you're thrown out. Second you're in the middle of nowhere recruiting. Utah doesn't really produce elite talent and if they do , they always seem to go elsewhere (porter gustin for example.) Recruiting kids who want to serve missions for two years is also a headache trying to play with the numbers and plan around it. And to top that all off, they honestly get paid like 600,000 a year with perks. The church runs the school and they make sure to show that there is no emphasis on sports over anything else. These are just a few of the problems and I could go on for hours. Now tell me, who would want to coach in that situation?

Well, when you put it that way, it doesn't sound like a great job.

Looks like the Terps grabbed Ark State's OC. Guess Joey Freshwater had too much swag for them Terps.

I'm really surprised Kiffin stayed on with 'Bama. I expected him to go the Will Muschamp route: do a year as a coordinator at a major program, post some good results, then grab a HC job again. Maybe Kiffin realizes he has some growing up to do and can learn things working under Master Saban. Or maybe no one was interested in him as a HC.
